You are absolutely right about this knife being a sleeper. Not many people even know such a knife is available. On top of that it is made in the USA. The tolerances are just as good or better the Microtech , the action is just as good or better then a GT. The the fact you can buy a DLC blacked-out version of this knife for about $180 right now is crazy to me and that is with Magnacut steel. Easily over $100 less then the closest compeiteion. Also, The anodizing on this thing is very, very, very, well done. I mean honestly the whole thing is just amazing. Its a Gem. Im currently buying another one right now I just hyped myself up for it all over again, gonna go with a blue one just like you have in the video. I cant find another OTF that has the ergomonics, such an elegent but at the same time fierce look to it. And I have had so many issues with Microtechs misfiring, This thing hasnt had a single hickup and to be honest I like the action a lot more then Microtechs, it now feels clunky to me in comparison to the Kershaw 9000. Now if only Kershaw would stop making all the unbelevably stupid assisted opening knifes that are a complete waste because the novilty of the assisted opening flipper wears off within days and you start to hate it and wonder why it couldnt just have a thumb stud, why on earth did they make the knife harder to close and not any easier to open at all. That shit needs to stop. But, this was and will be a BIG win for years to come. I would love to see them capitalize on this and stop wasting R&D on asssisted shit and go all in on OTFs. But at the very least get as serious as they are about this knife with all of their other USA made knifes. AND ONCE MORE KERSHAW IF YOU DIDNT CATCH THAT, STOP THE ASSISTED CRAP ,NOBODY LIKES IT. Anyway, great video!
I’ve never used a Microtech, but like you said most people I’ve talked to said this is just as good or better. This one has still been flawless for me. I hope you like the blue one, I think it looks great. The deal they have going on the black version is so good! I haven’t tried any of the assisted opening ones lately so I don’t have much of a opinion on them. I did have a negative opinion on Kershaw for a long time because of some poorly made knives in the past. But my experience with this one has changed my overall opinion. I’m going to try another knife from Kershaw this year. I don’t know which one yet, but I hope it’s as good as this one. Thanks for checking out the video!
I just ordered this knife from blade HQ and it's supposed to arrive tomorrow. This will be my first "high dollar" knife and first OTF knife as well and I'm very excited! I spent a good 2 hours going over the different models and colors and decided upon the black magnacut to to blade.
I'm about 30 min from the factory and had them fix the messed up edge on a 20cv Iridium I had dropped. Took them less than 10 minutes, and it looks brand new. Given the convenience of this service, I decided to pull the trigger on the Livewire. I love the blue, but I couldn't resist taking advantage of it being an OTF and opted for the new Double Edge dagger version, which as of right now only comes in an all black version. Haven't gotten it yet, but looking forward to it!
That’s awesome!! The double edge one looks nice! I was pretty happy with the Warranty process. I’m about 2 1/2 hours away. If I ever have another problem, I’ll probably just swing by whenever I travel that direction.
Hey yo Steve! I’m happy they took care of You. I happen to like that blue color, based on what is coming through on my screen. The body on this knife looks like it will feel sorta clumsy, or really great, in the hand? I’ve a few Kershaws, and all are good. USA made and good quality. You might want to revisit this down the road, with a follow up on if the knife worked out as EDC, etc? More content potential? Peace
Hey bud! Yeah I wasn't sure about the blue, but I have to admit I really like it! I think it has a good feel in the hand. It's slim and lightweight in the hand if thats something you like. I would like to visit this one down the road. I plan to revisit many knives, but I have to get some use in. Thanks for checking it out!
20CV is basically CPM M390..Magnacut isn’t as good but it’s still great..Knife informer has it listed as a tool Steel..Magnacut is tougher but M390 has better edge retention 🤷🏽
@@stevesgearThat’s a really good point that so many people miss! If you use your life to cut 9 hours a day, steel becomes important, if you take your car to a track and race it, you want a Corvette, a 911 or am M3… CPM anything (S35, S45, 20CV, Bohler M390 are exactly the same for casual edc - no one will notice the difference). I sharpened a Large Inkosi in S35, 4 years ago and it’s still hair popping sharp. Magnacut is very hard to properly heat treat, if it’s 60 then it performs exactly the same as S30, S45, if it’s 63, you see better edge retention but at the end of the day, if you casually use a knife - all of these steels are fantastic.
Man, that’s a tough decision! I really like both of them. if you prefer a little bit more of a premium feel, I would say the Livewire. The LiveWire also has a better action in my opinion. But I am one of the people that also likes the ruggedness of the FRN handle on the benchmade. At the end of the day, I think the Livewire has the best value for the money. But if you plan to be rough on them, I would say maybe go benchmade.
I saw that color! I think that color looks good. But honestly this blue has really grown on me. I don’t have a many OTF’s, but I’d agree for the money it can’t be beat.
Thanks for the update! Sounds like they took really good care of you. I think that speaks volumes on Kershaws warranty.
Had a little wait, but they did take care of me. Thanks for watching bud!
Thanks for the update-glad it worked out for you. The blue looks good 👍
I like the blue also!

My experiences with Kershaw's warranty and repair dept have been similar to yours. They're not always speedy, but I'm always happy.
Sweet blade brother ❤
Thank you!
I just picked up the Olive Green Spear Point and WOW. Its super light and The blade is sharp AF. LOVE the Magna Cut.
That’s awesome! Glad you like it!

Sounds like decent customer service. I do love the blue handles!
The wait was longer than expected, but it worked out well. The blue has really grown on me!
Kershaw has always had exceptional customer service.

Either way it’s probably more steel than I really need haha. Just have to be able to get into the bags of jerky!

How is the switch channel doing? Have you noticed if the blue anodizing is wearing on the inside (where the switch moves back and forth)?
I have not so far. I don’t use it a lot, so I can’t say it gets a ton of use.
Still doing well, the action works good for you? Considering getting one after a bad experience with microtech
This one has been flawless!
glad to hear it@@stevesgear
What would you recommend the shootout or the livewire? I’m about to get one of them

Thanks for the info man I appreciate it and great video btw. I went with the bench made haha
@@cadecunningham2594 no problem bud. I hope you like it! Can’t go wrong with that one.
I’m serial # 152 on that bad boy.
Nice! You like it so far?
@@stevesgear best otf for the price right now. Can’t wait to buy another. They just release olive color.

@@stevesgear agreed. Hopefully we get some more blade options soon.
Blade HQ just dropped a grey variant today.
Needs silver pocket clip and hardware 😭
Silver would have been a good look!
