In this video im going to be talking you through the basic techniques and hints on how to win a match on company of heroes.
After having played the game for over 150hours (yes sad i know) ;) sweatty gamer! these are the best tips i could come up with to help you to win your first game.

Summary of this video
tip #1: blitz ahead, cap off the points closest to the middle or otherwise the front, then slowly cap off the points further back.
tip #2: rush MGs or riflemen to the established front to defend your points
tip #3: build defenses along your front to better defend your front from attacks
tip #4: Once you have established your front, build an offense force
tip #5: Catch your enemy in a crossfire, so there will always be at least 1 unit not under fire and firing at the enemy
tip #6: block off any routes the enemy might take to advance on your newly capped points
tip #7: dont advance too much else you might run into enemy defenses
tip #8: send units back to your base to reinforce to save on manpower
tip #9: build a triage center to heal up injured units
tip #10: never, ever show the rear of your tank to anti-armor fire
tip #11: use crab mine clearers to literally mow down enemy infantry
tip #12: cap points to increase your own pop cap while decreasing the enemy's pop cap
tip #13: for the most part, f*ck airborne doctrine
tip #14: knight's cross holders are most OP infantry unit
tip #15: a checkmate beats a few cap points any day
tip #16: marking the map with a bot ally will "order" them there

Thank you for this video. Have only just started playing this game (a bit late i know but really like the look of the modern combat mod). Such a steep learning curve after playing Dawn of war for a little while. I'm currently about 0-10 in skirmishes, and thats against easy bots lol. I start off well but end up getting obliterated once the enemy start building vehicles as i never have the resources to counter them. Will try implementing your techniques and hopefully start winning some battles. Thanks again for this.

LOL, right as to why i just Botted my self but i uninstalled CoH and got Men Of War AS2 and played that till my GPU burned out, but i wanna give CoH one more chance and instead of playing campaigns, think i will just play Skirmishes and learn.

Hello sir, i would like to request some advice from a USA player, how would you go about defending yourself from a USA armor blob? My friend pulls this tactic on me all the time, and i can not find a good answer to it, I can play both Panzer Elite and Wert. at about the same skill (aka non)

I just spam PaKs now, works pretty well.
A blob can be countered by protecting your flanks with mg/mines and then attack your front with your infantry/mg with for the fatherland(if defensive) or propaganda(offensive)
Suppression of that blob would be of most importance though
@@jamyangbhutia9936 MGs wont do good against armor blobs and Propaganda ability only works against infantry.

that's why it's hard for me to play this game, cuz of moments like this 12:52 Its a Tank Destroyer. And it cant destroy a half-track, come on Nah. You dam well that's a one-shot., it's stupid ridiculous. Don't know why i even bought these 2 different versions of the game, well didn't know it was gonna be this Ridiculous.

Terrible strategy. You wasted your money on both the machine gun nests and buildings. You only need one at the start. A sniper can easily fill that role, or a machine gun team in a building.

Hello first that nothing, my English forgives, is bad, like that for that I hope that you deal, sides I play escaran with my brother we play annihilation with the high resources, I play with the Americans, the airborne, and it plays with the doctrine of difence, sincerely, I cannot win him, the combination of artillery of the Germans (who have it in all the facial features) and the strong antitank defense they do that ultimately it loses though always it starts by winning, and want advices to know I can win him with the Americans
+Emilio Colon Infantry is better vs Wehrmacht players, while AB is better vs PE.
The Rangers from the Inf company are hard hitting, with a reasonable AT, it does very heavy damage with rear hits against german armor. The AB rifleman have bad anti-inf, but their Recoiless Rifles have high accuracy and high penetration of front armor, but doesn't do much base damage.
Americans are meant to be played in combined arms attacks. The inf company will also level the playing field in artillery, with both off-map and buildable arty guns. Using tanks and AT guns to force enemy armor to face a direction and flanking with Rangers make short work of Panthers and Tigers. Using Shermans and M10 on the offensive will give you an easy time, using the infantry to take out AT units, with the M10 taking on heavy armor and the Sherman taking on infantry and medium armor. Most of the allied armor are glass cannons, they do extremely heavy damage, but they are fragile. Usually the best way to vet them up is keeping them behind buildings and hedgegrows and move out to attack tanks when they pass-by or show up.
Also, upgrading the Sherman cannon, and the smoke ability will give you an upper hand in most engagements. Don't use fire up unless you are pinned, because it increases the damage the unit receives from small weapons. Grenade, Sticky Bombs are BAR make the rifleman an amazing all around unit, the sticky bombs can get the enemy tanks disabled making them easy targets, while the BAR can suppress infantry units, Frags are good to take out entrenched or blobbed units. Mortar teams are good to defeat the 88's as you can bombard them and even steal them if you can get a 2-3 man unit to it. Armoured cars are good to counter the early game vehicles, you don't really need the AT guns until StuGs start showing up. The halftrack is also very good, as it can reinforce units on the field, even with the quad .50 upgrade.

going vs online players mmm americans work your ass crushing your keyboard while the germans face roll their keyboard, early game capture as many points and u can and defeat your enemey as soon as possible otherwise late game your going to lose since germans are OP late game, never play annihilate since thats more of a late game and only play victory point, last have fun doing the same thing every damn game cause thats all americans and british can do while germans can do whatever the hell they want. this game is unblance, the proof is even in bots vs bots the american and british bots can never beat a expert german/wehrmacht because the utility the germans get compared to american and british thus this is why company of heroes went down hill, cause it's a damn RTS game but a A-hole NAZI made this game.
The AI in this game is rubbish sometimes, of course the american/british AI cant defeat a hard german bot on their own. So I wouldnt rely on help from the bots. One CAN defeat a hard german bot, you just need alittle help from a friend and basically just spam american howitzers and armor company. Taking on a hard german bot on your own is suicide, unless you know this game inside out. Yes, germans are strong in the late game, that is why one should not wait and get defensive against germans, it doesnt work. Just spam untis at them, and they will fall eventually.

If you don't expect your Sherman to 1v1 a King Tiger from the front you can defeat most german players easily.
+Çağatay Sunal Germans are op in annhilation.I played around 200 matches now (most of them as germany) and if you just hold your front until you get panthers then you can just roll over them.Oh you got 17 pounders?I just make my panthers vet3 and I got no problem anymore.
1 Tactic I always do with my friend is on redball express.Someone builds stugs after he established his front and the other one waits until he can get panthers.The last guy can just do whatever he wants :)

jeez, this would not work against anything other then normal and hard AIs. 150 hours you say lol. I got to beating hard in about 10 hours which is where I am at now. 1v1 against hard, I usually win with the odd loss at about 2 in 5. 1. engi --> barracks, then shift click to capture a couple other points. All this while training another engi, stop at 2, train a rifleman squad, and then a car to deal with the possible sniper. Then pump out another 2 rifleman, leaving me with 3, get a triage centre, then bars or grenades depending on situation, and then I tend to got for my first T17 or M8, again depending on who I am playing PE or WM. Anyhow, this tactic is horrible, guys, dont listen to this guy.
Sometimes, I manage to win against hard AI with only getting one rifle squad to hold territory, building a couple observation posts on key resources and border territories, then focusing on pumping out as many T17s as possible. Then, after your forth, work on getting a tank depot, and pump out hellcat tank destroyers. This tends to work, SOMETIMES. Now, if enemy can get out enough ATs in time, then you are buggered, but if not, or if there is only one, you can easily kill that off by flanking it. T17s can then be moved into his base to kill retreating units. While your rifles quad deals with the meagre units left behind by the T17s, and with the M18s being pumped out, you can quickly get rid of his hq.
+Antypas Andreas Instead of bashing on a tactic that someone makes, why don't you try to make a video like Smurv did? Smurv's intention was not to show off how he plays video games, but giving insight to new players and possible alternative to old players.

In short, you are saying, that the only opinion that matters it the one you support. Things are supposed to be criticised, it gives more "insight" into whatever is being criticised.
Antypas Andreas I wasn't saying one person is on the right or wrong, I was just saying that you've just made a very long comment on how bad this tactic is, it's honestly not as much constructive as you were saying not to listen to whatever Smurv is saying on this video. Maybe try to make a better constructive criticism without actually, as I was saying earlier, bashing on it? I was basically saying that perhaps you should make your own take on better tactic to win a game for beginners like Smurv here did, as I see you've got a better understanding about the system of CoH. If you're saying yours is a criticism, maybe try to see mine as one for you too. Thanks.
Nipplestroke I did write my tactic, or what I usually use. It takes time to master coh, you just have to play it. I thank you for your criticism, but dont fully agree with it. Anyhow, I think we both understand each other's opinion.
