This video was one of my first and I did not set a good example of responsible driving. I didn't realize it until watching it over again and I've addressed that in my later videos. Thanks for watching and drive safely out there!
+Ryan Courts Fair assessment based on this video. Believe it or not neither previous wreck was the result of driving distracted. I won't bore you with the details but it was humbling to see myself on this one.
PNWreckage my man, can you please tell us what forums you went on to get info about the best / cheapest dealers in the northwest please? I'm new to buying cars and I don't make a lot of money (I'm 24 and made about 26000$ last year) and the reason I need a new truck / car is to get into construction / whatever line of work I can make decent money through, and like I said I'm new at it and don't have much money to throw around and from the sounds of it you got a pretty good deal and I wouldn't mind doing the same thing, and if it involves me traveling to get it I'd be willing to make it work, and thank you for the video, one of the most helpful I found so far 🙏🙏
+Mo Elyaddase honestly man eff the forums. People get emotionally attached to the "good deal" they got on their truck and spew misinformation. The only way to get the best deal is to make the phone calls and be willing to travel.
Appreciate your video. Im in the process of buying a RAM 3500 twin cab diesel, long box and reading all the comments below managed to find the dealer in Idaho. The base price was $44,945 with extras including the big horm package it came up to $59,355 and then with various discounts that were applied, all on line without speaking to the dealer it came down to $49,245, plus tax, title and licence. I'm impressed as I only wanted to spend about $40K and had been looking at second hand, maybe one of two years old and about 50-80k miles on the clock. So now, for another $10k I can get a new truck, without wondering about its previous history. I think I owe you a beer ot two. Again thanks. Rob
I used to work as a salesman in the industry and this is how the system works. The manufactures have what is called "Volume Discounts". In other words the more vehicles sold by dollars the larger the discount on all cars. So what may look like a sale with a loss on one vehicle, increases the profit on those sold in that year. They also have sales goals so the closer to the end of the month/quarter the sales is the more likely you would get bigger discount as incentive to buy. So at the end of the year you can usually get the best deal. So if you can wait and have dealers work against each other the better for you. Any one who calls you names makes you purchase cheaper.
+Eric Teeter Great info and thank you for being willing to share. I would love your feedback on the "As Low As" video at the end of this buyer's guide series if you're able.
Searching for the best dealer is definitely important. I went with a dealership in North Carolina (Kernersville) that is probably the #1 competitor to the Idaho dealer that you referenced. They ended up having the exact truck I wanted in stock (which was unexpected), and I got a similar out the door price for a similar MSRP to you, although you definitely did a bit better. Whole process took about 4 days from the time I saw the truck online to the time I drove it home. No haggling required, and they paid for my plane ticket out and picked me up at the airport, so all I had to pay for transport wise was my fuel and hotel (well, and food) for the 1,000 mile drive home, which was a good trip to break in the engine and test out the sport suspension on the twisties through NC and TN on I-40. Like you, my local dealers wouldn't come within $4-5k of what this dealer I bought from ultimately charged, and they were also fairly unwilling to order me a truck, telling me that options I wanted weren't available in that combination (meanwhile, the truck I'm driving today has all of those options). High pressure tactics by at least one of the local dealers, too, after they crashed the truck I test drove into another truck (another story...). The irony of all of this is that in 2004 when I was looking for my last Ram, I had almost the exact same experience. Local dealer (different state) outright refused to order me a truck, said I had to buy what was on the lot, high pressure "We've got 5 other people who looked at that truck today, it won't last long" etc. I ended up finding a dealership in Dallas that had exactly what I wanted on the lot, gave me a great price, flew down and drove it ~1,000 miles home.
You can go to any dealer and go to the Sales Manager and tell them you want to order a truck and only pay $500 over dealer price. I did it at my local Ram dealer and saved almost $10k on a 2018 Laramie 2500.
I ordered my 17' 2500 6.4 Hemi Laramie Sport from the factory around the same time you did. Same color as yours too but with a sunroof. I too was anxiously waiting for it to arrive on the rail system. It was the best feeling when the truck came in exactly how I ordered it with my name on the window sticker. Also, I was able to get it a lot cheaper than any model that was on a lot. I'm loving every minute of ownership of this truck. Enjoy yours!
Nationwide and highly variable depending on location. When I bought, they either came from Saltillo (HD) or Detroit (1500). There is also a network of trucking companies once the shipments hit major rail stops.
wow, I did the same thing on a Jeep Rubicon by keeping a dealer on the phone while at another dealer for the exact same Jeep right down to the same color. best deal I ever got. 30k for a loaded Rubicon with free extended warranty.
Hey Christian, I stumbled upon your video after trying to buy a new truck yesterday (new years eve 2019) and I am not going thru with the deal now! THANK YOU for your very EXCELLENT advice! I've watched a couple video's before your's and my mind was changing but after your's, I can see a totally new path to my new baby. I truly want to thank you for what just 1 of your video's has done for my buying experience! BTW, keep up the good content (I watched a couple more on your channel) your humble approach is working. Happy new year.
One thing to keep in mind, some state, Oregon in my case has a tax if you buy a new vehicle or a vehicle with less the 7500 miles out of state. When you are talking 1-2k savings. That's the price of taking time off work, a plain ticket and the cost of fuel home. Often will equal the tax
We have done this ... but we went threw USAA Car buying site, you find the car you want they give you a low price, you try contact a dealership and ask to have them honor USAA price. I like that you made all the companies compete though, ill have to try that when my first truck.
God bless you for sharing this ! I’m glad I came upon your video before I purchase a truck because I was planning on for to the lot with my husband in a couple days to trade my car in !
I did the same thing when I bought my 3500 Limited. I couldn't find what I wanted anywhere in the US and when I was going to spend $$$$ for a vehicle, I didn't want to settle for what was on the lot. I worked out the build online and shopped around. without leaving the house I found two dealers in Idaho that Sell High volumes at Invoice so I ended up driving up from Florida to pick up my truck which was special ordered from the factory. It took about 9 weeks but I paid < 63,000 for a limited trim level worth about 78k msrp. Great video, I highly recommend ordering from the factory rather than looking around at what is on the lot.
Dealing with whomever answers the phone is playing their game. If you're doing your homework from home, ask for the sales manager, he knows what he can sell it for, the rest of them are sales crew that go to him for answers and decisions. Play one dealership against the other. They do it to you, if given the chance. Never buy the same day you negotiate, ever. Sleep on it, or make them wonder if you really want it, then, you'll win.
I've used the internet to pit the dealers against each other numerous times.. I bought a new Rav 4 last year doing this and get this. The dealer I bought it from got it from another dealer I contacted. I was turned down by the one (for the same vehicle) and got it for $500 less with the other dealer who did an inter-dealer trade.
Would definitely like to see your build-out for your truck and tips to navigate the 'option' packages. I am looking to get back into a truck after driving a Challenger for 2 years; shooting for a 2500, diesel, Black Edition (or whatever it's called now) with a Mega cab. Was pre-approved by Chrysler to basically drive off the lot with a truck but dealership made it the worse 4 hours...and leaving without a new truck. Anyway, knowing is half the battle.
OMG! Awesome! I stopped looking locally (California) and did what you said...looked out of state. Whoooooaaaa! Found that a Nevada priced Subaru Crosstrek Premium was $22.3k, where as a Texas Crosstrek Premium was $15.7k! Great info while I look for my next vehicle post-lease end.
I know this video is older, what I found out that works, go see the fleet manager. They typically deal in volume and not price. Just bought a 3500, Limited Tungsten and no negotiating at all, they gave me $12k off the window sticker price and included oil changes for 3 years.
The problem about buying a vehicle out of state when you live in Georgia is you have to pay local sales tax when you register the vehicle so it really isn't worth buying out of state unless you get an amazing deal.
I’m sorry about your accident. Glad you recovered. With your experience with truck purchases- Could you please recommend the best truck for a 2013 Livin' Lite / Camp Lite CLTC10, 2,190 lbs/ slide in truck camper? Brochure requires a 3/4 ton (or higher) 8 foot bed and I’m partial to dually as the back end squats with full tanks. I would very much appreciate any help from anyone in the know. Thank you so much.
When you emailing other dealers trying to beat your written price from the Idaho dealer where you showing them the written price or just saying what price you can get from the Idaho dealer? Im sure they would want some sort of proof. I’m going to start the truck buying process within a couple months and all your videos have been helpful. Thank you. Although I was definitely going to get a 2500 Cummins mega cab until I saw you videos about the mega cab vs. regular cab. You brought up valid points, Now I’m torn!
I'm really enjoying your video. You and I have had the same buying experience with our RAM trucks. As I told you previously I ordered my truck in April 2015 and it arrived 7 weeks later at Benoy Motor Sales in Woodstock, IL. The dealership is owned by the two Benoy brothers who I know from Church and from our local Catholic school to which they are extremely generous. Every year they donate a brand new Jeep Wrangler for the fundraiser and they also gave the money for our new baseball field. I digress. After Church one day I was having coffee with Tim Benoy and told him that I wanted a RAM 2500 Laramie Mega Cab with the 6.4 HEMI, 4.10 gears and NO SUNROOF. He told me that I'd almost certainly have to order it which as it turned out I did. I spent all of 10 minutes with him in his office during which time we "built" my truck on the FCA system and it spit out an MSRP of $58,008.00. After that he applied all the cash back and other discounts available (business owner discount, "lettering" discount which I got but did not actually do) and after it was all said and done my price was $47,822.00. My trade in covered all the taxes and doc fees so I was basically out the door for $48k. I got every option other than the sunroof. I love the fact that my name is on the vehicle sticker which I keep in my glove box.
+METALITHrevetments Talk about a success story! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for the validation. I am thinking about having my window sticker framed hahaha
Well I already know the place in Idaho was Dave Smith motors in Kellogg Idaho. Northwest's biggest dodge dealer. I'm from Montana and I have friends who work there & even though I now live on the Washington coast now, that is still the only place I go to get a dodge truck!
It's funny many people say that, but when I called them they didn't gave me the best price, local dealer had an even better discount closer to 5grand extra off... so I dont know why people are so fond of dave smith.
I am looking for a gas 1 ton dually for hauling a truck camper. They are like unicorns. I have done a search for 300 miles. I don't need a diesel to haul a camper but I do need a dually. 1 ton DRW are hard to find to so I will need to special order. A BigHorn crew cab DRW 6.4L Hemi with 8ft box and auto leveling air bags will carry an Arctic Fox 990 camper nicely. I want air bags because I have been told by multiple sources that RAM suspensions can be stiff and 5000 lbs can make the the back end squat and the head lights point into the sky. Hearing that diesels hold their value is interesting but even with diesel instead of gas I can't find the truck I want. I know what dealer PNWreckage is talking about that is in Idaho. I have done the "build and price" and printed out a pdf and sent it to different dealers. I have got the "what is it going to take to earn your business" . Try selling me what I want, not what you have? I am in Washington state. I would be willing to go to Idaho or Spokane to get a good deal.
I've bought all my trucks over the phone , the line is I can't give you what I don't have this what I m spending and this is what I need , so far 3 units have come home this way the last was delivered to my house from a dealership 300 miles away , no chatter needed I'm not dating you or a family member ... Money talks B. S walks
I know exactly the dealership you are referring to for the pricing. DD has the most ridiculous pricing. I was lucky enough to only go to 2 dealerships in PA to get me within $1K of them. I ordered mine as well. Waited 5 month for mine in 2014 because I wanted the air suspension. Ordering does make it feels more “mine”. I have the window sticker with my name on it even👍. Love my Ram.
I bought my 2017 3500 Ram diesel from Dennis Dillon in Idaho it was the most awesome experience I've ever had there's no hassling and they offer a lifetime warranty on your engine and transmission as long as you personally own the vehicle for $2,000 I paid 47k out the door for my crew cab long bed. but I did buy in December at the end of the month in the end of the year sale.
PNWreckage yes they did but I didn't go with Chrysler for the loan. but I would buy from them again in a heart beat. the experience was amazing and there was no BS there was no Shady deals we're they try and make you buy something you don't want.
Holbit ram in Sacramento still has new 2018s. I was there yesterday looking. 2 many trucks trying to get rig of them qnd 2019s make room for the 2020s. Got like 100s on em. Thinking of picking one up for work new 18
I am looking for a truck for the very first time. I did some research and maybe sum and have noticed price differences than I start to say to myself whats wrong with this one its 30,000 miles on it but at 28,000 $$ this isn't bad. No back up camera and its a 2017 Ram red. . Im a single mom thats been in a country raising a son whom served 4 years and now is earning his last 2 semesters and I always need a truck so I thought to get a truck feeling its a bit safer for my only son to drive back and forth. He won't drive it allot so I thought this could work. I drive a c max hybrid but I owned a commercial van only for a year till I didn't use it allot so I sold it after a year but trucks are different...dont you think? I would love to hear back from you asap. Im taking a test drive tonight around 4pm ...would like your feed back. Ram truck 2017 red no back up camera
I got a build sheet quote from the dealership in Idaho and then i called multiple dealership here in Northern California that said they couldn't come close to the price and a few said they couldn't offer any additional discount when custom ordering..
I am also looking at purchasing a RAM after previously liking the new Titans. The 2019 RAM Rebel is my choice now, and I am in the research phase at the moment. Here in Portland, Oregon area , it seems all the dealerships are asking about the same price, with very little inventory of the Rebel trim. The Dodge dealership in Idaho you referred to, is it Dave Smith motors? If not which one is it. Thank You.
Dennis Dillon is who I originally got the quote from. As a fellow Oregonian I sympathize with your price experience so far. I really wanted to keep my business within my home state but I couldn't make it happen
Thankyou for the post. I would like to buy a truck but i dont mind haggling down on the proce to get the best deal possible at the risk of coming off as a cheapskate i will take that risk. But haggling on line sounds much better than doing it in front of other customers other salesmen and or dealership staff. Thankyou for the info.
What was the msrp and what did you wind up paying before tax title and license fees? I have been looking for a similar truck but with the 40/20/40 bench thanks
I got 40% off a 10 month old 2015 2500 RAM truck QC 4x4 Cummins stick. $50k vs.$30k but the oil company sold it at $24/barrel oil price, and I paid off the loan when they were close to bankruptcy!
Help! I looking to buy a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited in December. The dealership is selling it for $32,919. I’m thinking of lowering the price by $4,000. The car has been in their lot of a while now. Is this a fair negotiation? Any advice?
When your videos I was watching you stated what dealership you bought your truck at I was looking through your videos again trying to find out what dealership you bought your truck at and I was just wondering if you could give me the information on what dealership you bought your truck st because I'm in the market of buying a 2500 like yours
Thank you for the information and also great job on the videos of your making on your truck and everything it gives everyone a good idea what to expect from there Rams
Great video. Just purchased my first Ram (Coming from a tiny Honda S2000) and love it. Looking to the future now and this video has some fantastic tips. Thank you.
Haha that's one of the many reasons I found myself in need of a truck. A complete lack of storage space, lowered on coilovers and living in a flood zone, and having to transport five dogs is impossible in that car. Fun weekender though. Also I've subscribed, keep up the good work.
+Ayygo Thanks for painting that picture for me, lol. Thanks also for the feedback and I will keep at it. Feel free to make suggestions, I want to put out the stuff people need.
Great info. Can you post a link to a FCA site where they say they will honor rebates and incentives on custom order trucks? I want to do a custom order but cant get dealer to agree to honor rebates. Thanks
I learned that trick in 2007. Went to a class and the instructor used his vehicle as an example for getting equipment. He would draft a specification and requirements sheet and sent it to every dealership within reasonable travel distance and let them compete for his business. Like you, he used other dealer pricing against them and he never once set foot on a dealership lot. I've used that same model since and now kinda laugh when some people say they got a good deal cause the got Invoice Pricing...I've been way under that. I look forward to seeing what your other vids have in store.
+You Tuber That is awesome man, on that note I'm glad I didn't claim I invented it! Thank you for the comment and really glad it's working for others. Invoice price is NOT the best price and I have the same reaction you have. Glad to have you here and I hope you like the rest.
Good video. Question: When you were shopping over the internet with other dealerships about the vehicle you wanted Did you email those other dealerships a copy of that Paper with the pricing from that Idaho dealership ?
great info I am also In the process of ordering my truck. I agree Idaho Dennis Dillon has amazing prices. I live in California and prices are high! would like some more info from you and what price you paid. I have been checking this truck out for months.
Hello, I really enjoyed your video. My next vehicle purchase will be a truck and I'm trying to learn as much as I can before then. It sounds like you were able to get a better price on your new truck than many used ones. Would you mind telling me just how much of a discount you were able to get pitting dealers against each other? Thanks!
This is such an informative video. Is it possible to get a copy of the "order form" you used for sending a dealer all the options you wanted? I'm going to be buying a 2018 Ram 2500 Diesel in the very near future.
Do you think a new 2017 ram 2500 longhorn megacab with the limited package is a good deal for 62,150? Sticker price on it is $73,315 and it’s only got 100 miles on it at a dealership
Hey PN, without getting into too much detail about how you worked the finance on your deal, how do you set yourself up for success in financing with the dealership. Thats what I have the most trouble with and thats what puts my family and I in the dealership for hours on end. Thanks for any advice.
+Erik B totally hear you on that one. While there's nothing you can do about the time it takes to sign the required paperwork, you can save a ton of time by going in pre-approved for the loan (I would recommend a credit union but shop around by phone). Do not let the dealer run your credit! They ran mine at least 7 times and we just found out when we applied for a new home loan. Watch the next video in this series and let's talk after
Do you think you received a better deal by ordering it vs. one on the lot? I understand wanting a truck with everything you want and nothing you don't, but if you found that truck on a lot would it have been more expensive or less than ordering one?
+Bruce Hudson it was about $500 more expensive to order it from what they told me. I was getting bottom dollar anyway, but it was easy to justify the extra coin since I didn't have one single option I didn't want. Hope it helps!
I’m in the market for a new truck and a 2500 Cummins is exactly what I’m looking to get. Any way you could point me to the dealership you went to? I live here in Idaho.
So did you email those 30 other dealers the printout of what you ordered from Idaho and see if they could beat it? Or did you just email them what you wanted and they contacted you with a similar printout?
I would like to know if you can still get the discounts that they offer on a vehicle sitting on the lot between 8 to 9 thousand in savings I have dealer say they can't discount like that and what kind of tuner are you using for your truck I seen you messing with something
In your process, did you tell the other dealers what the competition was going to charge for the same vehicle? Also, does this process work well when looking to purchase a used vehicle (obviously not order a new vehicle)?
+Jorge Lopez I didn't share the exact price until I nailed down a few competitors who were in the same range. I wasn't sure how low was possible and didn't want to show my hand at first. Once I realized that the first price I got was a great value, I shared the document that showed the price and asked how much they could beat it by. By not telling them at first I was able to avoid the stealerships who were trying to rip me off. I think it can work with a used purchase as long as you have closely matched comparison vehicles if that makes sense. It's a lot easier with a new purchase because exact comps are everywhere.
So, while you "Sat on your couch drinking beer " you jerked 29 salespeople around and screwed the original dealership who dealt with you in good faith? Just checking.
Recently purchased used 2016 Ram SLT Cummins 4x4 Auto w/14000 miles. Winshield stated they wanted 44999 but got it for 26400 out the door. With the issues i had on last deal with them (2014 Ram Tradesman) i think they just wanted me out of their hair. I think i got a good deal what you guys think??
Hey I am in Washington as well and am open to go to Idaho or Montana for my truck. I am still debating on waiting for 2018 2500 or just waiting till end of this year to get better deal on the 2017s. I am curious with all the shipping you did to recommend a store to order or a month (truck month) to buy a new diesel? Also what did you press when you gunned it from the stop sign ?
+OSTAT16 haha good eye, I pressed the traction control OFF button to keep it from killing the throttle when the tires spun a little. I would hesitate to recommend a store because I don't trust any of them, but I did like the sales guy I worked with. His name is Jason Sperber and he's actually at the Lithia dealer in Spokane. Deals fluctuate month to month so that's a tough question, but I think you can find a great deal on most months. It would also benefit you to wait till the end of the month because of how dealerships structure their sales goals.
PNWreckage ya agreed. I have a Laramie 1500 with the 5.7 and it's been a great truck with all the options but now it's time for the Cummins. I like the Ram box option to store guns or beer. Now I just need to decide to get mega cab or not . I am not sure about sales and or state taxes but I will travel out of state to get best deal for sure. Spokane is about 4 hour drive so I can check out that dealer. If you can send me message with what you paid or what is a good price that would be great to give me a range to shoot for
+SilverStakcer What type of watercraft? If it's well within the towing capacity of a 1500 (or 2500 gasser) then the Cummins premium may not be worth it. I don't know the weight of a dirt bike off the top of my head but payload capacity comes into play if you wanted to haul those while also towing a watercraft. The Ecodiesel scares me and I think there is an argument for getting the $9k Cummins even if it's a bit overkill. You will not find a superior diesel and it is really fun to drive, fuel efficient and easy to upgrade if you're into that.
You hitch pull almost the same weight gas or diesel. It's not until you're up past 15,000 pounds that it matters. A half ton hemi will pull 11,000 pounds. Enough for 20 dirt bikes
+Dave Roil Thanks man. I crashed my first truck in a snowstorm 30 miles up a logging road. A tree ripped the sunroof off and showered me in glass. That sucked, but the biggest middle finger was that I couldn't take shelter in the truck because of the giant hole in the roof.
+anzkary Under 54,500 for a 68k sticker price truck. I see your point. Since the vast majority of fees are negotiable I would say it's somewhat relevant, particularly for people living in the same area.
PNWreckage solid deal ... Well not only that fees are all different depending what state and county you live in. Be it that I live in CA I have to pay an additional 9% to 10% in fees alone
+avalanche Because a specific number distracts from the point of the video, which is to get the lowest price you can during whatever time you end up in the market.
@@PNWreckage But it helps to see Numbers to get a basic idea. People can always go back as see what they worth at that time to help them get a ball park figure even if it is not practical at the time they want to buy.
I'm interested in getting a Ram 1500 night edition crew cab short box. There are quite a few on auto trader just not in my area. Would you recommend having them deliver it if it's out of state, going to pick it up if within driving distance, or doing a dealer trade with a local dealer.? My current lease isn't up until February. I don't know what the 2018's will bring but I'm pretty dead set on this truck. Do you think the over the phone method will be effective closer to say November December. I'm sure they'll be a few laying around still.........I'm assuming they'd be a little cheaper to make room for the 18's
+Ogre Doug I think it's cheapest to go pick it up. Having it delivered or doing a dealer trade will add $ to the process. I spent 50 bucks to rent a car, drive it up and drop it off. And yes I think deals are better closer to the end of the year but I guess your lease is up at the beginning of the year, of course.
PNWreckage Thanks for the quick reply. I plan on making the final payments all at once and turning it in early. The advice is greatly appreciated, your truck is awesome
smartest young man i have ever personally met..his wife is equally majestic…im 47 and didnt have much hope for the future until i met this couple..i actually have asked them to look out for my 23 year old son when i die..and that is a testament to Laurel and Christians character and intelligence….buy bitcoin!!
This video was one of my first and I did not set a good example of responsible driving. I didn't realize it until watching it over again and I've addressed that in my later videos. Thanks for watching and drive safely out there!
PNWreckage what was your price??
+Ryan Courts Fair assessment based on this video. Believe it or not neither previous wreck was the result of driving distracted. I won't bore you with the details but it was humbling to see myself on this one.
I would love to see what type of form you were sending/receiving the dealer with your option selection. You can email me scottinconnecticut@gmail.com.
Im in the process of buying a RAM 3500 twin cab
diesel, long box and reading all the comments below managed to find the
dealer in Idaho. The base price was $44,945 with extras including the
big horm package it came up to $59,355 and then with various discounts
that were applied, all on line without speaking to the dealer it came
down to $49,245, plus tax, title and licence. I'm impressed as I only
wanted to spend about $40K and had been looking at second hand, maybe
one of two years old and about 50-80k miles on the clock. So now, for
another $10k I can get a new truck, without wondering about its previous
history. I think I owe you a beer ot two. Again thanks. Rob
+Rob Wallace badass man!! That is exactly what inspired this video
How about the end of November? A good time to buy?
You Tube it was 7k cheaper in November than it was in August??
The government profits the most off new cars, so Dealer ship doesn't make $7000 gross profit on a new car
Ted DuPuis how did you get them to pay for your plane ticket lmao
Us3rX100 is this for most dealerships? Thank you for the info btw and what is “31 dodge”?
So what was the msrp on your truck and how much did you end up paying?
+davethewave32 Best buying experience ever. Thank you for sharing!
davethewave32 the “rail system” you referred to is a state specific process or is this a nationwide process for dealerships?
I am in Oregon and that would be news to me. Cite your source please
www.oregon.gov/dor/programs/businesses/Pages/Vehicle-privilege-and-use-taxes.aspx
0.5% tax
Damn glad I dodged this little treat
@@coolHandLuke5150 - funny how Oregon calls that 0.5% vehicle tax as a privilege. LOL
We have done this ... but we went threw USAA Car buying site, you find the car you want they give you a low price, you try contact a dealership and ask to have them honor USAA price. I like that you made all the companies compete though, ill have to try that when my first truck.
God bless you for sharing this ! I’m glad I came upon your video before I purchase a truck because I was planning on for to the lot with my husband in a couple days to trade my car in !
this man should run for president!!
What dealer helps you?
Dealing with whomever answers the phone is playing their game. If you're doing your homework from home, ask for the sales manager, he knows what he can sell it for, the rest of them are sales crew that go to him for answers and decisions. Play one dealership against the other. They do it to you, if given the chance. Never buy the same day you negotiate, ever. Sleep on it, or make them wonder if you really want it, then, you'll win.
+redroofretriever agreed
+suberizedwrx damn that is a huge difference!
I know this video is older, what I found out that works, go see the fleet manager. They typically deal in volume and not price. Just bought a 3500, Limited Tungsten and no negotiating at all, they gave me $12k off the window sticker price and included oil changes for 3 years.
+122276mjs sounds like that has worked for a few people and I wouldn't have known about it. Great info
I've bought my last two rigs this way. Fleet guys don't care about you just a number. So much less BS to deal with
How do you contact the fleet manager?
You ask. It's really that simple
At any dealership?
Great video buddy. I'm glad you addressed your driving habits and glad your still here.
Thanks man
your
The problem about buying a vehicle out of state when you live in Georgia is you have to pay local sales tax when you register the vehicle so it really isn't worth buying out of state unless you get an amazing deal.
Can you make a video saying whats a good ball park range for us to pay for a truck like yours?
Would be incredibly helpful
No but I can tell you I paid under 55,400 and MSRP was about 68k
Thanks a lot. You have very informative videos, keep them coming!
I just found your channel and really like the commentary you provide on your truck likes/dislikes.
+kyle450rider Thanks man I really appreciate it and am glad you found it
I'm really enjoying your video.
Yeah, why not have it framed? I didn't think of that but it's a good idea.
+METALITHrevetments Didn't want to look pretentious but I think it's going to happen
METALITHrevetments. Hey im from the area how workable is benoy motors for a random walk in?
Im in the process of doing this exact strategy right now. 2 months in and still working on getting my 2018 Ford F150 Lariat
Did you buy it already?
Well I already know the place in Idaho was Dave Smith motors in Kellogg Idaho. Northwest's biggest dodge dealer. I'm from Montana and I have friends who work there & even though I now live on the Washington coast now, that is still the only place I go to get a dodge truck!
It's funny many people say that, but when I called them they didn't gave me the best price, local dealer had an even better discount closer to 5grand extra off... so I dont know why people are so fond of dave smith.
What dealer gives you better deal?
I’m purchasing a new Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited (already have a RAM), trying your method now and will post results. Appreciate the advice.
Wheres the result
Get the Diesel buddy, you won't ever regret it.
I've bought all my trucks over the phone , the line is I can't give you what I don't have this what I m spending and this is what I need , so far 3 units have come home this way the last was delivered to my house from a dealership 300 miles away , no chatter needed I'm not dating you or a family member ... Money talks B. S walks
+markbuilt Well said
this fucking comment. preach it bro 👏👏👏
markbuilt did you pay cash or did you finance?
I know exactly the dealership you are referring to for the pricing. DD has the most ridiculous pricing. I was lucky enough to only go to 2 dealerships in PA to get me within $1K of them. I ordered mine as well. Waited 5 month for mine in 2014 because I wanted the air suspension. Ordering does make it feels more “mine”. I have the window sticker with my name on it even👍. Love my Ram.
This video is going into my favorites, thanks!
+Ryan Minnick Nicely done. Did they require financing through Chrysler for a $1,000 discount?
PNWreckage yes they did but I didn't go with Chrysler for the loan. but I would buy from them again in a heart beat. the experience was amazing and there was no BS there was no Shady deals we're they try and make you buy something you don't want.
A brand new 2017 diesel for 47k? what trim level? Sounds like a bargain. I was more looking at Chevys/GMCs tho :D
+Eliteage No one's perfect 🤣
lol convince me to get a ram and maybe I will .
Holbit ram in Sacramento still has new 2018s. I was there yesterday looking. 2 many trucks trying to get rig of them qnd 2019s make room for the 2020s. Got like 100s on em. Thinking of picking one up for work new 18
Did you end up getting it from Hoblit? I am in Sacramento and willing to go to Hoblit
Hope you didn’t wreak your last truck talking to a dash mounted camera. (Sorry, couldn’t resist)
Good news lol
Came across your very informative video. I am in the process of researching for my 2500. Thx for the info.
+Mitch Trujillo very glad to help
I heard rams have bad transmission. What do you think
+John Jason Chun talk about right place right time
Help!
I looking to buy a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited in December. The dealership is selling it for $32,919. I’m thinking of lowering the price by $4,000. The car has been in their lot of a while now. Is this a fair negotiation? Any advice?
What dealer did he buy from?
Idaho I believe you are talking about dave Smith in Idaho. I am in Cheyenne Wyoming everyone talks about them, the place to consider
January 17 is when I went to basic training
I'm in the mid stages of negotiating now, for a 2017 Ram 2500 Crew Long bed w/ Cummins. No big moves have been made yet...
+redroofretriever congrats on starting the process. I'll be interested how things progress for you.
When your videos I was watching you stated what dealership you bought your truck at I was looking through your videos again trying to find out what dealership you bought your truck at and I was just wondering if you could give me the information on what dealership you bought your truck st because I'm in the market of buying a 2500 like yours
+Wes Rosenlof Lithia of Spokane and the guy is Jason Sperber, no worries man
Thank you for the information and also great job on the videos of your making on your truck and everything it gives everyone a good idea what to expect from there Rams
+Wes Rosenlof thank you
Great video. Just purchased my first Ram (Coming from a tiny Honda S2000) and love it. Looking to the future now and this video has some fantastic tips. Thank you.
+Ayygo Thank you for the feedback and congratulations on your purchase. I've always liked the S2000 but there sure isn't much elbow room.
Awesome video. Can you please tell me how much was the sticker price and how much did you pay. And also the dealership info.
Approximately 68,960 MSRP and I paid under 54,500
It would be great for me to know the actual prices you paid. I am going to try to do exactly what you did. I am down in orange county CA.
no no did you get your vehicle?
How do i find the best dealership to give me the first offer for a tacoma trd.
Good video. Question: When you were shopping over the internet with other dealerships about the vehicle you wanted Did you email those other dealerships a copy of that Paper with the pricing from that Idaho dealership ?
Some of them, yes
I watched you driving your new truck while doing this video. Fortunate for me, i'm not your insurance carrier...
great info I am also In the process of ordering my truck. I agree Idaho Dennis Dillon has amazing prices. I live in California and prices are high!
would like some more info from you and what price you paid. I have been checking this truck out for months.
+Sean Ware shoot me a private message or an email PNWreckage@gmail.com
PNWreckage just sent you a email.
Hello,
I really enjoyed your video. My next vehicle purchase will be a truck and I'm trying to learn as much as I can before then. It sounds like you were able to get a better price on your new truck than many used ones. Would you mind telling me just how much of a discount you were able to get pitting dealers against each other? Thanks!
+Lauren Riley hi Lauren, send me a direct message or email PNWreckage@gmail.com
Watch the next video in this series and let's talk after
Will do shortly. Doing Cummins QSK78 liter engine training at the moment....these engines dont fix themselves you know.
+Erik B I have been led to believe they fix themselves. My whole life is a lie.
PNWreckage damn. I ruined it for you. Welcome to the world of Cummins Sales and Service. I apologize lol.
+Erik B Erik was the name of the sales manager. Was that you?
Do you think you received a better deal by ordering it vs. one on the lot? I understand wanting a truck with everything you want and nothing you don't, but if you found that truck on a lot would it have been more expensive or less than ordering one?
+Bruce Hudson it was about $500 more expensive to order it from what they told me. I was getting bottom dollar anyway, but it was easy to justify the extra coin since I didn't have one single option I didn't want. Hope it helps!
Did you use Truecar to see where on the bell curve you paid? Was yours the lowest price on there?
+WELLSNOOPY1 I wouldn't take that or similar websites as the authority but I didn't check
I’m in the market for a new truck and a 2500 Cummins is exactly what I’m looking to get. Any way you could point me to the dealership you went to? I live here in Idaho.
Why didn't you want a sunroof??
How do you order the truck online? For a Ram, would I just go to the website?
So did you email those 30 other dealers the printout of what you ordered from Idaho and see if they could beat it? Or did you just email them what you wanted and they contacted you with a similar printout?
Both. I had them give me their price just in case it was lower and then sent the other offer to see if they could beat it.
I would like to know if you can still get the discounts that they offer on a vehicle sitting on the lot between 8 to 9 thousand in savings I have dealer say they can't discount like that and what kind of tuner are you using for your truck I seen you messing with something
13k off MSRP and no tuner I swear
I am looking for a new Silverado truck. My truck was stollen. I bought that new 18 years ago.
I just bought from the same dealer and they were awesome. 2018 ram crew cab long bed
I’m looking to-order 2019 2500. Can you tell me your options and how much you paid?
What did you end up paying?
+Alex Moore 😂 favorite comment of the week
what was the "sticker" price and what did you end up paying?
+Landon Young shoot me a message or an email
PNWreckage is this how I message? sorry not on here a while lot.
PNWreckage nope that's definitely wrong. haha
+Landon Young it's okay I suck at operating TH-cam. PNWreckage@gmail.com
+Landon Young lol
When you say you ordered it, was that on the build a ram website or thru a dealer website?
Great vid btw.
+Lawson Fan thank you and I ordered it through a dealer since the only direct sales car brand is Tesla from what I understand
Don A what was your issue with the tradesman?
My husband s wants a ram truck . i need help
That's what this channel is all about!
If you can send me message with what you paid or what is a good price that would be great to give me a range to shoot for
+OSTAT16 I got your email and will respond to everything as soon as I can, work just became slammed so it may be a while
I'm in the process of ordering a 2500 limited. If I'm only towing dirt bikes and water craft. Is the cost for a diesel worth it?
AT 6 mpg
what was the company you ordered from?
So when you showed the dealerships at the time lowest deal did you show the dealership info to other dealership or did you senor that?
just curious why you didn't want the sunroof? I'm looking to buy a 2500 just north in Canada. really l
enjoying your channel keep em coming
+Dave Roil Thanks man. I crashed my first truck in a snowstorm 30 miles up a logging road. A tree ripped the sunroof off and showered me in glass. That sucked, but the biggest middle finger was that I couldn't take shelter in the truck because of the giant hole in the roof.
PNWreckage oh wow. lucky you weren't hurt.ill keep that in mind. thanks
so what was your OTD price?
The OTD is irrelevant ... What did the truck cost you ?
+anzkary Under 54,500 for a 68k sticker price truck. I see your point. Since the vast majority of fees are negotiable I would say it's somewhat relevant, particularly for people living in the same area.
PNWreckage solid deal ... Well not only that fees are all different depending what state and county you live in. Be it that I live in CA I have to pay an additional 9% to 10% in fees alone
+anzkary which is total BS that CA does that.. dicks
I am trying to get 2017 Laramie 2500 for $52k ($67k MSRP)
So why didn’t you just buy it from the dealer in Idaho if they gave you the lowest price?
They didn't
How much more did u get off the total?
So l'm looking for the same exact truck. What did you end up paying?
+Qkhd 1500 shoot me an email
PNWreckage why don't you just fucking say it.
Whats the idaho dealership you started with ?
How does taxes work when you buy out of state? Can you still roll them in with your loan?
How do I contact you about the out the door price? Please let me know, thanks.
+Brandon McCreary pnwreckage@gmail.com, I'm a little behind on my emails but I'll get back to you
That resources did you use to find the best dealer in your surrounding area?
Thanks
Have watched several video's and am curious as what gear ratio your truck has to get the mpegs you are seeing?
did you deal with taxes from purchasing in a different state. will all dealers order the vehicle or is there an associate fee?
Do the Washington or Idaho dealerships honor oregons no taxation?
+Michael Laatsch Yes, both
great videos! I'm hoping to take your advice and apply it in the near future
+Ogre Doug thanks a ton man I really appreciate it and congrats on your upcoming purchase
I'm looking for a 2500 deisel can u tell me what dealership you went to?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
