“Be cool when no one’s watching - That is life well lived.” So well said! I’m fairly recently retired, and my adventure level is apparently too much for my peers, and those adventurous enough are stuck working. So I have learned to love adventuring on my own, and often now even prefer it.
I always see American TH-camrs teaming up for videos. Usually musicians, but sometimes other stuff two. Two British TH-camrs I'd love to see Team up are Abbie and Wildbeare. Going on an adventure together. Abbie chooses the area and plans the route and Wildbeare gets to pick the campspot for the night. I could totally see both of them having their own TV Show or even just a spot on another show, back in the day. Like Friday evening. Back in the 90s, early 2000s, when TV was still relevant. Home from school, Neighbours at 5:35pm, then 6pm would be some show with features from Abbie and Wildbeare.. And then 6:45pm would be Buffy the Vampire slayer. Perfection.
Thankyou Abbie, some much needed motivation there. Great to see you've taken the plunge into cold water swimming, the endorphin rush is amazing and always trumps that initial 'what the heck am I doing?' thought. Keep smiling 🙂
Well that’s was both informative and hilarious. Definitely put a smile on my face 😁😂 Great tips Abbie and defo making ‘unawarely’ part of my daily conversation 👍🏻
Great tips. Agree, agree, agree… especially the bright colors (orange is my fav), doing what you do with or without others… and def despite others and limit screen time (as say as I type on my phone 🤷🏽♀️).
Love this, Abbie. Fortunately, I live in California. The weather is kind to the body. There are plenty of nice trails to hike. I was busy crocheting a baby blanket for a new family member while I was listening to your vlog. I love multitasking!
Thankyou as always Abbie.I am not planning on adventuring far.Just daily life is a massive challenge at the moment. But your humour and your tips help me find my grounding strength.x
Love these tips! If I don’t get away and out amongst trees daily I don’t feel well…… def need to be outdoors regardless of the weather. There is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong sort of clothes😂 Stay Wild Abbie ❤
Re Tip #1: if only newspaper were still available! It’s been three years now since the newsPAPER became unaffordable. I do save paper packing material from the occasional delivery box, but it’s not a reliable enough supply to always have on hand for wet boots. Have other folks found a substitute for newspaper?
Abbie, I was back on Arran last week, actually quite enjoyed walking amid the drizzle and moderate rain, even when it was very windy up North Glen Sannox. On Tuesday I walked up Glen Rosa valley to the Saddle, down the Saddle cliff (combining terror and wonder in equal measure) and on to Sannox. On Wednesday I walked from Brodick to Machrie via the String road, then inland again to see the standing stones and stone circles of Machrie Moor (highly recommended, the tallest is more than 5m high). Lastly on Thursday I walked from Brodick to Lochranza, along the way going up and then back down the North Glen Sannox valley (I would liked to have gone up the ridge line a bit towards Caisteal Abhail, but the cloud layer was far too low, the drizzle heavy and way too windy), rainbows visible the whole time. Overall, about 46 miles in three days. If anything I would have been happier with somewhat colder temps, though I was glad to be wearing a proper coat at the top of North Glen Sannox (I bought a Glacier II Extreme from Mountain Warehouse the week before, it worked well, good waterproofing, though I wish it had a lot more pockets). An added advantage of walking during this time of year: virtually no bugs to worry about. I don't like doing walks in summer, far too many midgies, and the plant growth all around can get so high it obscures the views. IMO it's better in winter, especially in mid to late March, all the heather and bracket has died back, so it's easier to see where one is treading, and the views are clearer. Pick the right day and it can be clear skies, cold but with some snow still on higher ground, which looks awesome. Just now at the end of October though the plant die back has already commenced, so the treading is easier than during summer.
👋👍🤗❤️ Thank you for the tips. They are always helpful even if you're not planning a trip now. Maybe the future will allow me to be able to plan a awesome adventure.
I loved the image of the trail blocked by temporary Heras fencing. I once lugged a bike over an eight foot deer fence in Scotland. I did find a different way back!
This was just what i needed to read, thank you. Im planning some multiday hikes next year, which ive never done before. First one April on Speyside Way. I need to test my kit on a walk in/camp/walk out and i live in Cumbria. Ive kind of been a bit timid about starting but youve given me the verbal kick-up-the-a$$ i needed 😏 Now to plan some small and medium training goals 💪🏻
You had me up until cold water swimming!! Sod.....louder for the people at the back ... that!! :) Seriously though. Bring on winters. I am lucky to live close to Dartmoor. A cold crisp winter overnighter waking up to a frosty tent and sticking some hot porridge on.....happy place!
Great video, I have enjoyed much your content, especially the mountain hiking content - out of interest for Mont Blanc how heavy is your backpack at the start? Looking to train for this sort of a climb and would like to know what sort of a weight I would need to get used to
@AbbieBarnesWILD well, if snow is forecast in Snowdonia or the Lakes this winter, I'm gonna set off to camp, so I reckon I need to get equipped to be safe and not be an idiot! Love your energy, inspires me.

Cheers Abbie! Highly entertaining but some serious food for thought too - and not just bananas 🍌 and bagels 🥯! 💪💪💪
Absolutely!!

Well this was fun to watch :). But great tips indeed. I like to spend as much time outside as possible.

Hey Abbie! Nice Tips & Energei!
I loved the image of the trail blocked by temporary Heras fencing. I once lugged a bike over an eight foot deer fence in Scotland. I did find a different way back!
Great tips and reminders!

Cracked me up! ❤
I love that black and white woolly hat. Where did you get it from. Ive been searching for that shape?
Hi Abbie, what’s the make of your orange coat with fleece?x
The dry robe? It's Fourth Element:)
@Thank you! I've been following your videos for a long time and you have been an inspiration. Please keep doing what you're doing!xx
After tip 8 I wanted to turn off my screen, luckily I didn't. ☺
I want to camp in the snow I never have....😢 that's my ambition but wondering should I buy mini spiky things for my boots?
Depends on where you are going!!
