Your topic makes me think about my mom. My mom gives birth to 7 children. My dad is not really a supportive husband and a good leader in marriage. My mom find a way to earn side income while being a full time housewife. Sneakily learn how to drive and get driving licence when my dad against it. I'm really thankful my mom decide not to be an obedient wife at that time because her driving skills helps a lot. She could manage my siblings and I without entirely rely on my dad and my dad also receive the benefit when my mom could drive.
All my life I never see my mom hangout with friends. Never. We are her friends. She's been through a lot alone and I'm grateful God keep her being strong physically & mentally. I don't think I could survive going through her life experience.

I was literally liking everything you wrote until you did it. You texted the last line. WOW that's a shame you think your mom did wrong instead of you saying, I love my mom AND dad because life was harder because nobody had time to show both of my parents
      Disney storytime.

I didn't realize I had postpartum depression with my first because I didn't realize it could look different. I had intense visions of horrible things happening to my child. I thought I was just being paranoid. Thankfully, all turned out well, but beware that it can be different for you than what you've heard or read. Also, be aware of prepartum depression, I had that with my third pregnancy.

@sheenamelwani I would also add, don't feel the pressure to breast feed. My first ate every 20 minutes, I was so tired. He was never satisfied, we figured it out but it wasn't easy. My second feed until she was 2yrs+, mamas need to care for themselves so they can be the best mamas for their babies. ❤️

I was watching all your videos as soon as they came out while I was pregnant. It’s the first time after giving birth that I have time to watch you guys again and this is the first video that I had not seen. It feels serendipitous and a gift from the universe that THIS would be the video I would catch up on.
My first born is now 3 and a half weeks and it feels like I have “wasted” time and at the same time that there’s been no time at all. Super weird feelings and definitely have PPD.
All the best to everyone going through it. We got this 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

The term "Irish Twins" comes from the fact that historically the Irish being very Catholic people, abstained from any forms of contraception and thus would have huge numbers of children, oftentimes born in the same calendar year on 2 separate days.

Birth month: October. And for for farm fresh groceries, you might try Thrive Market.
Side note: Sheena, that problem you've talked about where you are always cold, it stems from your diet. The vegan diet is sorely lacking many nutrients, including iron and magnesium. You do need some animal, egg and dairy proteins in your diet. Being perpetually cold comes from needing iron, specifically from red meat. You must factor on your blood type. Certain blood types require way more meat than others. Meanwhile, lots of vegetables contain toxic proteins called lectins that destroy your health by causing inflammation throughout the body. Some points of research for you to look further into.

Nothing last forever but the love we give. Those things you struggle with having kids will be the things you miss the most when they leave. Once your are on the roller coaster, you can’t get off. One might as well embrace it and laugh at the danger. Remember, nothing stays the same. How many divorces happen when the kids are grown? Life in general is a challenge and most ppl hang on to those experiences that reinforces our desires. Believe me, you will end up broken physically, your kids will leave, your love will grow cold, its all a challenge and the only question is will you accept it.

16mo pp and I agree it gets a lot easier with time. I don’t think I could have fully understood the imbalance breastfeeding causes until the resentment started. Even though my partner and I fully discussed 50/50 prior, it was totally different once baby was here. Thank you for sharing and validating. ❤

  • @erinh13

Sheena's experience as far as postpartum after having her first child is so relatable. I felt very much the same - cut off and just under a cloud. Regardless of how excited I was to have my baby girl and be a new Mom, I hadn't considered that I wouldn't be the same person. I mean - I was me (still am), but in my new role I suddenly was also very different. So there was a little mourning period for the person I was before I became a Mom, I suppose.
And I hated breastfeeding. I stuck with it for 10 months, then my supply started to dry up. The day I decided I was done, it was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders and the clouds over my head cleared.
Having my second child was a completely different experience, just like you talked about. Nothing felt as serious (even in the delivery room). And she was such a chill baby, probably because I was more relaxed with her.

My "baby" is turning 18 and from being pregnant till now I deeply believe "It takes a village to raise a child" and I'm very sad to see young mamas and couples suffering by not letting no-one help them, like they have to do everything by themselves or they don't feel good enough 😢

Trid is right. We watched and learned from other new parents and experienced parents before we had kids. Nailed it. Thank goodness we are both strategic and thought a lot about things before they happened. Heck we got social security numbers to get 529’s for both kids right away. Also we committed to losing ourselves and becoming an US. A team that we defined together. Maintaining the self isn’t good for the marriage.

Mom of two, one being a new born. Agree with everything said and want to add a few points:
    1. Please please please have your partner take photos of you and baby! Or else you are left with plenty of photos of baby alone, and baby with hubby doing cute things and NO BABY AND MAMA!
    2. Try out baby wearing, a life saver
    3. Belly hold position will help tremendously with gasy baby, all the farts and poop will come 😆

Watching this i think looking back when i had my daughter 18yrs ago i believe i had postpartum depression and my drs. Or myself didnt figure it out. Neither did my husband at the time. And due to the delivery and my dr not knowing i had preeclampsia i wasnt prepared and the dr yelling at me during delivery and all kinds of things during my delivery i ended up getting my tubes tied

What most people don't know is that men can also experience PND. The statistic is 1 in 10 for men and 1 in 5 for women. With our first child, I went through this for 4 months. I couldn't bond with him at all. I was just overwhelmed with everything that I was doing at work, for my wife and for him. It was a tough time. Thankfully, I had a great support system that helped me through that so I could give them what they both needed while also making sure I was taking care of my mental health too.

Loved all this! I agree with the breastfeeding making losi g weight tough- its the hormonal aspect. Sleep also messes with weight. I think 9 months from when you stop feeding and the baby is sleeping enough for you to have atleast 1 rem cycle ( so 3 hrs)

We had a GREAT routine!! I’d go to bed at 9:00 when I feed the girls (yes, twins) bc I’m an early riser & he’s a night owl. So if they woke up in the middle of the night he would warm breast milk & bottle feed them then come to bed. We’d sleep until 6-7 then I’d get up & shortly later the girls would get up, then him & off to work he’d go.

So many marriages end in divorce before even attempting to work things out. I think culture plays a huge part in it. Maybe I'm wrong but I assume that in Trid and Sheena's culture divorce is a trivial thing like it is in Westernized cultures. So there is more incentive to work things out. In western culture the divorce papers starting flowing the second conflict arises.
