A lot of people don't know that his father, Malcolm H. Kerr, was assassinated in Beirut, Lebanon in 1984. He was the president of the American University of Beirut. Steve's family has been entrenched in helping the disenfranchised. I've seen him grow from a sharp shooting guard at the University of Arizona, to a gold medal winning coach for Team USA. He has ALWAYS spoken out about the travesties in this world and civil rights. Love this cat 🙂

The reason I support pro-choice is simply because of how impartial and contextual I view America and our communities. My entire life I’ve always made it a journey for myself to be kinder, more open, yet still sharp in my logic. When one does that, it’s easier to put oneself in the shoes of others and connect/empathize with them. The problem is that politicians, who ostensibly should have this characteristic of mine, are few and far between (yikes!). Every circumstance relating to abortion is different, confounding, and personal. WE the people, we have a social contract with polity, we give them their salaries, we elect them to represent us and our defining issues. We the people did not choose concentrated opinions from religious extremism, corporations’ greed, or racial (white) supremacy. We the people didn’t choose this for us, but those oligarchs picked by those other ones at the very polity top -who will never be able to place themselves in other women’s’ shoes, understand them, empathize with them on their situations, or improve upon solutions and policies that will help women- will only continue to damage the progression we’ve enabled as a democratic country. Abortion only became so politically charged, not even a partisan debate at first in the 1960s. We as women, as people, do not want the government to be meddling in our personal choices anymore not as women, as healthcare recipients, not as Americans.
When you begin to open up your mind, your heart up, and your curiosity… I think that’s when every one of us in America will succeed and understand -within and the extent of issues like abortion. So let’s re-think about our political stances shall we?
@@rainrubio962 You don’t think the U.S. government has enacted policies that help women? Frankly, since women attained the right to vote, that’s all the government has been about, slowly granting women what they want since they outnumber and outvote men.
Second, some things are just wrong and immoral. The termination of a human life because it inconveniences the mother in one way, shape or form, is WRONG. Women should not have exclusive rights to kill their own children, no one should.
America one time went to war with itself because more than half the people thought slavery was okay and agreed with it. It took one leader to eventually say this is morally reprehensible.
I’m sure some of the slave owners 200 years ago were “kind” people, who gave to charity, who would serve you some lemonade if they saw you walking by on a hot day (assuming you’re not black). But they had one huge moral blindspot, and so they _were not and could not be_ good people.

I don't follow sports and so I had no idea who this guy was when I heard him speak. But I gotta say...IMHO...this was THE best and most IMPACTFUL speech of the night. @@michael-wj7scI would say vote blue (vote Kamala and Walz) for the presidential election specifically because, as Kerr said, the country will be best when everyone can collaborate rather than argue over our differences. Kamala and Walz lead in a way that’s much more collaborative.
On the other hand, Donald Trump’s leadership and campaign employs division and hatred, which will prevent a unified nation from forming under his presidency.
For all the other elections that will happen this election season, vote for whoever you feel has the best policies and values for the place they are leading, red or blue.
But for the presidential election, because of how much the president relies on party support, voting for the party that in recent years has had a much less divisive track record, imo, is the best for our country.
