I have never cried after watching either national conventions.. yet this hit me hard. I’ve always only voted for who I believe would have the best intentions for the people, democratic or republican. I choose who I believe in my heart has our best interests and Obama saved my life literally. When he passed Obamacare I was able to see doctors and receive life saving medication which I’m still able to receive today. The Obama’s made me cry, missing this kind of leadership and dedication to people gives me hope.
I am so glad you got the care you deserve. We are so lucky in Australia, EVERYONE is covered by Medicare with access to all we need. Barak Obama is an outstanding human being.

I used to sell health insurance years ago and it would break my heart that some people would be denied because of pre-existing conditions. Whoever doesn’t like Obama care should be working to help improve it. Don’t get rid of it and start from scratch that’s what was wrong with this country… We keep fighting each other to tear down and start over instead of looking at what’s good and making it better🤦🏽♀️

Was it just me or did anyone else feel a calmness in your chest when the Obamas spoke? Having President Obama in the White House gave me such a peaceful reassurance that an adult in taking charge and making mostly good decisions for the good of the country. Biden did too, until his age was becoming very apparent. Mad respect for all the Democrat leaders who do the right thing. And to the mayor of Mesa, AZ too.
And in full sentences also 😂. I brain cells shrink when I have to listen to Trump's speech. And I use the word speech very loosely here 😂

I'm an American and I cried when Michelle gave her speech. When Barack spoke, I was compelled to get off the couch and stand for its entirety. When he was elected in 2008, my husband and I were driving home when we heard his eclectic speech on the car radio. I had goosebumps when I heard him talk over the car radio. I wish I had a Dad like Obama. I always wanted to meet him, his family, and his dog!

Well …..all I can say is ……..I cried …..I just cried listening to him ……….what a great speaker and what a great man ……..
Listening to his speech live gives me a throwback to Obama's speech in the 2004 DNC. You can hear it in the crowd of how excited they are and to me it amazes me how he's able to maintain most of that momentum within a 35-minute speech. To list a few, he uses a lot of storytelling, anaphoras (repetition, see I Have A Dream speech by MLK), and themes of unity in his speech.
You may agree or despise the stuff he does during his presidency. But you can't deny that his public speaking skills and charisma are OFF the charts.

I was an independent at the DNC in 2008 and was part of the protests w/ Iraq Veterans Against the War, but Obama listened to them and he won me over more with every speech since then.
I am also an indepdent. When I hear people like Pete Buttigieg and Obama talk, it resonates with me. When I hear Donald Trump speak, I get angry, upset with the things he is saying to me. I think the choice is clear here.

In 2012, I went to Costa Rica and was talking with a staff member at the hotel. He asked where I was from, and I said “Chicago, where President Obama is from” and a big smile came across his face and he said “Presidente Obama.” I felt extremely proud to be an American at that moment.
