would agree. Im a Ford guy and love the 7.3, but the 5.9 just sounds like a beast. Personally think it sounds better in any configuration vs the 6.7 cummins or powerstroke
@@dieselcanuck87 believe it or not it actually does, the bigger the dip, the deeper the tone it gives the exhaust. there is plenty of videos that prove my point as well if you dont believe me.
This helped me make up my mind. I have a 4" straight pipe on my truck and wanted to go to a 5" because it's in need of replacement. But I'm thinking now 4" to an 8" tip is the route I'm gonna go.
I have a 2nd gen manifold swap on my 04.5 with afull 5 inch straight pipe. Its damn loud.. really loud. Im curious to know how it would be with a 4 inch. I would say i def. Enjoy the 4 inch more on a 3rd gen with a 3rd gen manifold. Deep, bassy and awesome. A 5 inch can take away that "cummins bellow" that can be heard off idle and low throttle conditions.... hard to explain.
If the point is sound or loud macho sound, why not just do an electric cutout up before or just after the cat? It will be Louder than the 5" all the way through the straight pipe to the rear, and you can go back quiet when needed.
I don't get why people buy 400-600$ exhaust kits plus pay for labor or yes they can do it themselves ..wene I asked a reputable exhaust shop for 4 inch straight pipe to a 8 inch rolled tip axle dump and was told 350$ Is there something I'm missing??..oh and do you no my stock exhaust pipe diameter on my 07 ram 3500 mega cab
First of all great job on editing this video it’s truly amazing with the comparing of them both. I like the 4” the best haha, I keep my exhaust stock it did have all new pipes but way to much drone so put stock back on with cat delete
I like the 4 inch better. It sounds better. The 5 inch is great for breathing but it sounds kind of funny. The ticking sound is weird. Is there something wrong with the grey one?
Yeah I got a straight 5 inch with an 8" tip on my 24 valve and idling it sounds like the the boys. Your 4" sounds good because of the big tip. I think I'm going to a straight 4" and big tip on my 07-5.9. :) :)
4 inch's sound awesome... Dude I saw the headlights, I have some ideas with mines,, I'm really busy working 7 days but I will retrofit them. Probably 2 in each headlight or 1 but for sure Hid Hi/low 100 watts... I I'll be posting a video later on....
Hey I’m kind of new to the whole diesel thing. Will one of the these exhaust tips fit onto my stock exhaust? I’ve got an 04 2500 and as long if the measurements are right I don’t need to get all new pipes right?
You would need to look and see what size your stock exhaust is. For example my after market mbrp is 4in to 8in tip but the inlet would have to be the right size for your exhaust so it would fit. I’m pretty sure the stock exhaust is 3.5in so if that’s the case one of these tips wouldn’t fit because it has 4” inlet. If you have any other questions feel free to comment dude
Justin Fio My confusion is that I don’t know if I’ll need a whole new system. As long as all the measurements are good from the stock exhaust these mufflers that have the matching inlet will work, correct?
Dry Knees as long as you get a tip that has the size inlet of your stock exhaust you should be fine. But if you have the money honestly In my opinion I would straight pipe it! Sounds great/more air which lowers egts /better fuel mileage overall a great upgrade
Where does one find a new 4in or 5in with downpipe anymore? I'm having a hard time finding a kit. I only live about and hour and half south of ya'll. I'm down by the Delaware Memorial Bridge
I have a 06 2500 5.7 hemi. And it has 160k miles. I plan on keeping the truck. But want to do a cummins swap. I dont know anything about these engines. But everyone says these engine will last till the end of the world. I seen lots of people say the 24v 1998-2002 5.9 I6, is the best engine ever created by mankind. I want something with powerrrrr. Nothing to crazy. But I do want something built like DCF DIESELS Create engines. Can anyone help me or give me advice. Should I just stick to 6.7 V8 cummins. Or get the 24v that comes in 3rd gen 5.9 I6
Austin Johnson it all comes down to turbo housing for egts but 5” would definitely decrease egt also if youre having big problems with egt upgrade to a bigger turbo
Day 26 without a cummins. Spilled some oil in my driveway to make it look like I parked there recently.
what happened to your cummins
Fr mine doesn’t leak any fluids
Do you mean a Ford? Had 3 ford diesels that leaked like a sith but was still damn good trucks ain't leaked a drop from either dodge I've owned
My 04.5 HO 5.9 makes a drop here and there then I have a whole bunch of drops 😂 love the truck 🛻 😂
🤣
Maturing is realizing 5.9 Cummins are the best sounding trucks at idle and on the run
😈😈
would agree. Im a Ford guy and love the 7.3, but the 5.9 just sounds like a beast. Personally think it sounds better in any configuration vs the 6.7 cummins or powerstroke
put an 8 inch tip on the 5 inch than compare.. bigger tip on your 4 inch is making it more throaty. compare with same size tip
Will do plan on gettin similar tip on project Cummins anyway.
Exactly what i was ruining
Tip size makes absolutely no difference in sound
dieselcanuck87 8 inch sure does
@@dieselcanuck87 believe it or not it actually does, the bigger the dip, the deeper the tone it gives the exhaust. there is plenty of videos that prove my point as well if you dont believe me.
The white truck at the start of the video wins. What exhaust is that?
I agree, that dude almost went back in time. That was a hell of a pull.
His IG is g_mirm
Just got my first 03 5.9 today!
congrats dude!!
I absolutely love the sound of the 4in I have a 4in on my 2000 2nd gen 24 Cummins and I love the raspiness of it when you put her down to 3,000 Rpms.
4 inch sounds better, 5 inch always sound to “airy”
Ya I’ll stick to the 4”, just has that sweet rasp noise I like so much.
Awesome video man that intro with that white common-rail Cummins was nice that turbo sounded amazing
This helped me make up my mind. I have a 4" straight pipe on my truck and wanted to go to a 5" because it's in need of replacement. But I'm thinking now 4" to an 8" tip is the route I'm gonna go.

That 4” to 8 sound like a monster
I'm a dual 4 inch guy myself... So 4 inch for the win 👌
👌👌
I run a 5” on my 2nd gen 12v to give it that 24v deep tone
Harley Davidson guy buying his first Cummins ever here. I can't wait to modify and make it a crazy adventure.
Yup 👍 4”-8” tip that’s what I got perfect.
Love both exhausts 🔥💯 Great vid
i do too man hard to choose one appreciate the support man!

That first white dodge dam that sounds good
How much did you pay for the project truck?
5" ALL DAY!! Got a 5" tbe w/ 8" tip on my 2010
I have a 5in on my 06 and like it more than my 4in
So what did yall do the 6.0 dump truck did u bulletproof it?
Put the same size tip on the 5” and see how it sounds
In the plans thanks for the feedback 🤘
4 definitely sounds better
Thanks man!
@@justin_fio No prob 🤘🇺🇲
Did you get a kit or just chop stuff off to make it a straight pipe? Cause that's what I did and it really doesn't sound raspy just deep
So proud of you brotha keep it up 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
appreciate it boey!
Besides the sound's which one benefits more HP and Torque...
Whoever was driving at the beginning is gunna blow his shit up in no time if he keeps driving like that 😂
5 inch ftw 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Appreciate the feedback!

What all have you done to the black truck?
Justin fio- nice vid man. What all have you done to the black truck?
Great video man. Keep it up.
appreciate it man!!
Real genius here... covers the plates in the beginning of the video but later on shows them. 😂🤦♂
Why cover the plates? Than show them later lol
Love the vids man keep up the good work you are a 12k subscriber channel with 1 million subscriber quality you have a lot of potential
appreciate that baker you the homie!
I like the 4 inch better. It sounds better. The 5 inch is great for breathing but it sounds kind of funny. The ticking sound is weird. Is there something wrong with the grey one?
Injectors???
I have a 4” to a 7” and it sounds amazing
5” for sure!!
Thanks for the feed back
Justin Fio idk that raspiness of the 4 sound good
4" straight ,with a 5" tip. Thats the ticket.
How can I get my pos 6.0 powerstroke to sound like the black cummins exhaust at this point sick of the jet sound all the time
I prefer the sound of the 4 inch. It just sounds better. The 5 inch sounds like a tin can.
5inch drones in cab to much on the common rails....4inch sounds nice
Yeah I got a straight 5 inch with an 8" tip on my 24 valve and idling it sounds like the the boys. Your 4" sounds good because of the big tip. I think I'm going to a straight 4" and big tip on my 07-5.9. :) :)
What inch is ur truck justin the 05 Cummins? 3 or 6 or is it just a leveling kit if so what inch.. I would love if I had the answer asap👌
2.5 in skyjacker leveling coils
What was done to the white truck sounds amazing
im going to make a whole over view video on it! stay tuned
The 4 inch straight pipe on the black truck
Both sound dope !!!
thanks matty catanzi!
What year is the one with the 5inch straight pipe
Are those straight pipe turbo back or what?
i would do 4'' straight pipe cummins (the black one)
appreciate the feedback!
Definitely 5inch exhaust
4 inch has a more distinct sound I like it better
the white truck at the first clip sounds like a supra😂
Warning 1k month of diesel 😂😎
4 inch 💪
Nice video 👍👍
thanks juan!
I like the 4 straight. Pipe
What is all done to the black one?
I run a 4" to a 5" tip but I'm thinking about going up to five .
Where did you get your exhaust system from?

What wheels and tire size on the blk ram? Stock height?
My dad has a 5 inch and it sounds good
sweet dude!
4 inch to 8 inch all day long. It sounds like a freaking Peterbilt when idling.
hell ya dude appreciate the feedback!

On my 06 I put a 4 to 8 inch tip on the stock pipe
I say put the same size tip on both then see how they sound, 5 inch is deeper
Jesus... kid looks like a junior high student.
4 inch
Do you have a tuner on the black truck with the 4inch pipes?
Were did you get the 5 inch exhaust
Does that straight pipe trigger the engine light
did not trigger mine especially if you have a tuner you should be good
@@justin_fio thanks man. That's my main concern. In way too paranoid about that stupid light.
yes do make a video on the 6.0 dump
4inch all the way man
How do you get a 6.7 in an 08 to smoke more
Straight pipe meaning do I take off the muffler and the catalyst converter
sinn lpz straight pipe is an exhaust system directly from the headers to the air so yeah no cat conv or muffler
I choose both
perfect answer hahah
Or is it just the size tip?
Dont know shit about trucks and didnt know until now that I need one, what year and model is the black one
that black truck is a 2003-2005 style, its considered an early 3rd gen.
Does the 4" have a lot of drone
Where does one find a new 4in or 5in with downpipe anymore? I'm having a hard time finding a kit. I only live about and hour and half south of ya'll. I'm down by the Delaware Memorial Bridge
If you go to Parley’s Diesel Performance Website they offer a WIDE variety of turbo back exhaust systems for I think 1-4th gen Cummins trucks.
Damn I got this banks monster exhaust on mine kinda want it gone
Paint match everything on the project Cummins
in the plans!
Just the plastics leave the chrome alone 🙌🏻

I did a full exhaust DELETE on my 6.4. Sounds nasty.
The 5” seams more quiet.
can someone explain to me why no one does dual exhaust on diesel trucks like they would normally do on gas trucks?
It doesn't look very good. I don't like it. Just like a JDM car, they need one exhaust, two looks dumb.
He sounds like Lip Gallagher from shameless
4inch sounds better
Appreciate the feedback !
what’s that wheel and tire set up
5in for the win. The 4in sounds like shit accelerating
4" sound best on a 5.9 and 5" sounds best on a 6.7
whats better for egt's?
Austin Johnson it all comes down to turbo housing for egts but 5” would definitely decrease egt also if youre having big problems with egt upgrade to a bigger turbo
4" ftw. Got a 4 mbrp and it sounds nasty af
4in dual exhaust
Warning..... Some boss trucks only
5in all day 4in = rice
Good video, need the same size tips for a true comparison, please lose the music it sucks.
