    The keycaps are really not my type of aesthetic, but the sound is gorgeous!

      The keycaps come stock with the board. We just added our services to it.

    Do you perchance know if the MonsGeek M1W/SP allows for reprogrammable buttons - specifically for the knob?
    I'd like to make its functionality entirely focused on media control. Not mute volume on pressing down, but pausing and playing music etc.

    • @kdxjj

      Monsgeek has their own dedicated driver which allows you to customise the keys and the knob.
      You can get it here: www.monsgeek.com/download/

      My original plan was to find out if the aforementioned feature existed on the M1W or the SP model (both are practically the same, as far as I'm aware), but I decided on just getting the QMK/VIA-compatible DIY kit instead. For one, I don't really care for wireless boards because charging every few hours (with backlight on) is a huge hassle. And two, I never travel with my board.
      The M1 is a fantastic model, regardless of being wireless or not. I never take it anywhere. It's always on my desk, so corded is no problem - as long as it's a coiled one of high quality ;)

    Do those stabilizers come with the board or did you need to order them separately?

    I really like that non shine through gradient version of keycap for M1W , but sadly they went with the side printed shine through keycap for the international launch. Very bad choice IMO.

    • @kdxjj

      You can actually find similar gradient keycaps on the market. But the upside for international M1Ws is you get Akko Piano Pros.

    By plate foam do you mean the thick foam between the PC plate and the PCB? Then you also removed the bottom case foam and IXPE pad on the PCB? Am I correct?

    • @kdxjj

      Yes, the Poron plate foam was removed to allow the sound to reverberate. And no, we left the bottom case foam and IXPE switch pad intact.

    • @TrueRuizu

      @@kdxjj I have the IXPE with a PE foam on top, replaced the case foam with polyfill. Do you think I should take out the IXPE foam and leave the PE foam instead? Trying to achieve a creamy/marbly loud sound. Kinda not satisfied with the loudness of mine.

    Love this video! I'm new to this, so can I check what is a silicone mod for the spacebar? Are they pads or did you pour liquid silicone in it? ^^

    • @kdxjj

      Hey there, no problem. Silicone mod is a method we used for filling up the spacebar to eliminate the hollowness. The purpose is to achieve a thockier sound. There are pads available, but for us at KD x JJ we found this to be a better solution.

    • @Keebmen

      @@kdxjj thanks for the reply! So by filling up you do mean liquid silicone inside the spacebar and letting it dry? :)
      Also, when you mentioned force break mod, did you use the included Teflon pads that came with the keyboard? :)

    • @kdxjj

      @@Keebmen Anytime! Yeap, better get a syringe to do it so you don't make a mess.
      And yes, we used the provided Teflon pads.

      I just stuck a 3M double side tape under my spacebar for Keycron V1 and it is working marvelously.

    Curious about the silicone mod on the spacebar, do you just pour some silicone on the spaces?

      Yes, we used a syringe for better precision and control.

      We got this board as a pre-built - switches and keycaps come together. You also get some basic accessories like Type-C cable, USB Dongle, dust cover, user manual, some modding accessories, etc.

    • @kdxjj

      @@nunonobrega5090 For this M1W, all we did was removed the keycaps and the switches before opening up the case by unscrewing the 6 screws at the bottom. Be careful when opening the case because you will need to unplug the JST cables for the daugther board and the batteries. At this point you'll be able to remove the bottom case foam. Then unscrew the 6 screws holding the plate and the PCB to remove the switch pad. At the same time, we also installed the screw-in stabs. After you're done, just carefully re-assemble the 6 screws back to the plate, reconnect the JST cables, close the case and screw in the 6 case screws. Then install the switchs and keycaps.

    hey there, planning to buy this board and using the stock switches. do you guys reckon i could use the stock switches the akko v3 piano pro switches to achieve a pretty similiar sound with the same mods?
    please let me know as i am really interested in this board. thanks
