Rauno upped the masters world record by the same amount Eddie upped the open record, and made it look easy. Absolutely insane strength.
In relative terms, he upped the record by more than Eddie!
Except that Rauno didn't hitch four times and rest the bar on his knees.
Rauno improved it more right? Took it from 436 to 476, which is a 40kg jump, while Eddie took it from 465 to 500, resulting in a 35kg jump.
@@danoontjeh123 prior to that day in 2016 the record was 463kg which was a 37kg jump, you'll have to excuse me for rounding up the 3kgs
@@zaineridling mate wtf are you talking about he didnt hitch 4 times on his 500 kilo he did barely one at the knees which he quickly pulled past and for such a heavy ass weight he pulled it really smoothly and quickly to.
No superflexible bar, full range of motion. Rauno is on another level
Why wouldn't he get full rom.
I mean we had thay one Como with embarassing calls calling right above the knee pulls lockouts, but giants live is usually good on calls

I tend to overlook Rauno but he was, at least for me, the guy who was looking the best in his training videos. I never really considered him a contender for 505 but he was looking by far the best at the deadlift tonight. His reps look way cleaner than both Mitch and Ivan from my perspective. I hope this helps get him the recognition he deserves. Rauno may actually have the best deadlift technique of any strongman currently. Im not sure if 505 is in the cards for him, but the other guys who want to get the record could learn a ridiculous amount on how to be a more technically efficient lifter by watching Rauno. Watching him deadlift the same way every time is kinda like watching Big Z do every log press the same each time
Technique wise, probably Martins is the best, but Rauno should be the strongest at the moment.

Id also add Hicksy to the technical pullers list. His pulls always look so dialed in, and he does not have the best leverages for deadlift, making it even more impressive imo.
Rauno, Hicks and JF all have the smoothest technique for the strength of their pulls.

That looked so easy that he could have done 485, maybe even 490 today
He said during the show he wanted to give 505 a try but felt a bit of pain in his hamstring on this pull, so he decided not to do it and save himself for the rest of the competition.

That moved so freaking smoothly. Rauno is definitely one of the best deadlifters in the world and I believe he can get 505 in the future. Big congrats to Rauno!
I'd say he has 2 3 years left in him to try it. Hope he stays healthy and gets the record (or at least close to it) cause he deserves it.
475 to 505 is a massive jump. Rauno isn't getting younger and you tend to peak in compound strength around the late 30s. Some people that strength phase may last into the 40s but father time starts taking a toll and heavy training gets increasingly difficult. I suspect he breaks his record again with a 480-485kg lift but that last 20-25kg might be insurmountable at his age.
Imagine setting a 505 masters deadlift world record. A record for the ages.

My deadlift P.R. is 258 kg. I felt my soul leaving my body. 476 kg is insane...especially for a man who is much smaller physically than peak Thor and Eddie...

Loz you were saying the other day that Thor and Eddie made 470kg+ deadlifts look easy and that's what made them strong contenders for the world record which they both pulled. How do you honestly feel about Raunos chances now you've seen this? I think that was pretty smooth and he made it look relatively easy for the mega amount of weight he pulled.

Yes i think he had a minor hamstring injury and didnt want to risk.
Nah first event fresh doesn't rival a pull 3.5kg less on the the 11th event of the most heavy static based WSM ever in a roasting hot country. Eddie's was slightly faster too. Rauno insanely impressive though for a masters lifter, but it doesn't rival that pull.

Looked good for 490 to me. Smart to leave it for another day though imo. Would love a masters head to head on co-efficient with Heinla. He's by far the best masters heavyweight, I'm the best lightweight. How about in the future we get some weight classes going for a promoted Strongman deadlift world champs 80/90/105. If I had the cash I'd do it myself.
