I so agree Kit. I watch this every once in awhile and am always amazed at her performance. I don't know of anyone else who could have done the role justice

Worked at a theater showing this back in 95. Loved watching the audience reaction to the end of the movie.

The 90s saw many weird news stories. This and Natural Born Killers really capture how sensational the news was when cable channels were building their empires. Cheerleader Mom's, OJ, and Lorena Bobbitt. Life was simple back then ..
Edit: PS: I love everything about this movie. Nicole Kidman is fantastic! She is still doing great work. Everyone around her gave a wonderful performance. And the script is perfect satire.

Watched it recently and I remembered the film and ending. I must have watched it as a kid or teenager
It is pretty timeless. The performances are really spot on

3 oscar winners. Nicole Kidman won a golden globe for best actress in musical and comedy and this was back in 1995 and
Nicole Kidman was also in Batman Forever, This movie made Nicole Kidman huge and she wanted that part so badly.
She nailed Suzanne Stone. Nicole Kidman had a so so career and then she won an oscar for The Hours. I hope she wins another oscar. She also has the Hollywood Walk Of Fame,

That Nailbomb track is a belter isn't it?! ('Wasting Away'). I remember being completely ecstatic when hearing it during that scene when I first saw the film 😃
Though have to say, I very rarely listen to that album anymore, Point Blank, its levels of nihilism are a bit too depressing to tolerate for any extended period of time. Soulfly on the other hand, they're still very intense and damning in many ways but the overall feeling from their style/message is more uplifting. I've recently been reacquainting myself with their first and second albums, pretty damn good. If you haven't heard it before I'd recommend Son Song featuring Sean Lennon. Inspirational 😁
Another fine and interesting review guys, thank you 👍

Point Blank is quite depressing, you're absolutely right! I listened to it for the first time in many years the other month and yes it very nihilistic, it's still very good though. I never really listened to Soulfly past the first album, I saw them live on that first tour here, but (and I know they're a different band) for me I just preferred Sepultura, plus around that time I wasn't listening to so much metal anymore, or at least getting into new stuff.
Thanks for the continued support Alan, so glad you're enjoying our content 😎

@@cineXplorers Yep, Point Blank, it's a powerful, incendiary album, but depressing. Trying to get a party started with the likes of 'Sum Of Your Achievements' is... Impossible! I know 'cause I tried 😄 Quite a misguided choice, many years ago.
But yeah, in your mentioning Sepultura there, I have to emphatically agree, Soulfly and Nailbomb are both interesting bands and sounds but at the end of the day, for me, Roots and Chaos A.D., are the quintessential death/thrash/groove metal sounds/albums that have stayed with me over the years. Never get tired of them. Arise is good too but it's those 2 that entered my orbit in my teens and made that permanent impression. Tastes and experiences change over the years don't they? And it's always healthy to explore different and diverse sounds. Of recent years I've been enjoying more jazz and electronica stylings. And the two together if possible! Actually, just today I was listening to my first F*** Buttons track after learning of their existence after watching your Greasy Strangler review haha, great stuff (the music as in 😉), cheers.
So, yeah, I'm really enjoying your channel, love how eclectic both of your tastes are... You keep makin' 'em, I'll keep watchin' 'em 😊😁👍👌

Well if you can't give out spoilers for an almost 30 year old movie, when CAN you? I would've loved to hear a more detailed discussion. But thanks for the video.

That's very true! However, there will always be someone out there who hasn't seen the movie and that's who we initially hoped we would cater for, although I think the majority of people that watch our videos probably already know the movie. Thank you for the comment 😎 ~ J.

Why do Brits call Joaquin "Whakkin"?

    • @cyny6305
      @cyny6305 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@cineXplorers "Whakkin" as in "Wackin' my butt" No. "Joaquin as in " Wha-Keen" emphasis on the second syllable. Sounds a bit more "walking" as opposed to "whackin'." Just in case you run into him :D. Tell him Cyn said "HI"

Ah yes, I watched some other videos and you’re right. When we next do a Joaquin film, we shall correct ourselves, thanks for the comment ~ J
