+KLM I have seen all the videos of KLM Cockpit Tales series and the whole series is awesome, but this video is the best one, definitely! Thank you KLM!
+KLM can you makes these a little longer please? Also thank you for making this series these are so great and I've learned a lot through this series I want to be a pilot in your airline! Even though I'm only 10 I know a lot about planes
Wonderful impressions from the cockpit of that beautiful 777. This is such an informative series, I enjoy those videos very much! Always happy landings!
Great work KLM. This is one of the best aviation videos ever I have seen. Please keep uploading such awesome videos. I am waiting for them. I wish I could fly with you guys, and that will be the best day of my life. ..😌
Hey KLM! Great work you guys! This series motivates me even more to continue with my studies for my licence! Regards All the way out of South Africa...
+patrik streng Time in the simulator is mainly to practise extreme situations: difficult landings, engine failure etc, apart from training young pilots before letting them fly a real jet.
Very interesting! - Do you disconnect the GPWS to avoid annoying terrain messages in final? - If 144 is the Vapp for Quito, what would be the Vapp for Amsterdam at the same weight? - Autobrakes 4 will provide a very high deceleration rate. Would 3 be enough really and 4 is used for extra "caution"?
+jibeneyto -I think they didn't, as far as I know the altitude call outs on final are also disabled when disconnecting the GPWS (although I am not 100% sure about that), and you can still hear the call outs ;) -Exactly the same, the Vapp depends on the weight and is expressed in IAS (indicated air speed), IAS and GS (ground speed) are two different things. Because of the elevation of Quito the ground speed is slightly higher compared to Amsterdam, but the Vapp is the same ;) -I'm not sure about the autobrakes here, but you can calculate the required autobrake setting depending on runway length etc. Hope this helps a bit ;)
Thanks for your comment! On the speed, I really meant approach GS, not IAS. I calculated the difference myself and turns out that 144 IAS at 10.000 feet roughly equate to 167 GS, so about 23 knots faster than at sea level.
One of my favourite airline I wish I could work for them as a pilot. I'm currently working as a corporate pilot. KLM please let me be part of your beautiful team.
KLM is flying to Taiwan and China for many years. In the past these two countries were in a conflict with each other, so as a result of this conflict China would not allow airliners into their airspace if they were flying to Taiwan. To avoid this situation KLM created a subsidiary called KLM Asia. The KLM Asia aircrafts were flying to Taiwan and the original aircrafts were flying to China. Nowadays KLM has several KLM Asia liveries so they can choose which plane to use for the flight to Taiwan. The other KLM Asia liveries fly to other destinations around the world when they are not used for the Taiwan route
+KLM oh and I forgot to mention I'm very interested in planes and how they pilots work so I really appreciate these videos thank you very much for making my day better
When I saw the title I thought, "That must be one strong airplane to fly 'through' the mountains instead of around them. Is there a drill on the front of the plane? 😃
+alphaklg It's about the same; at 250T the Vref at 10000ft is only 1kts higher compared to sealevel. On the other hand the true air speed (TAS) increases with approximately 2%/1000ft. E.g. Vref Quito 163kts gives a TAS of around 184kts.
+dericktor5 It's easy to tell by it's cockpit. It's a Boeing 777 variant (probably the 200-ER, since KLM doesn't operate the LR version. It might be a 300-ER as well)
+Jasper Kleine Hallo Jasper, helaas kunnen wij geen uitspraken doen over de video's die op JetStreamTV worden geplaatst. We raden je aan om met hen contact op te nemen.
Magnus Årøy Used to, its to much bugs ..even with the addons of every sort ..the prepare3d thing ...even that has bugs.. So i am waiting for the new thing coming called Dovertail Flight School! :) Coming out 26 april , also they are releasing the full simulator in the end of this year. Called Dovertail Flight Simulator 2016.
This video series is incredible, especially for those who aspire to be pilots. Much thanks and go Skyteam!

+Nils Cassiers i know i have done the mission its pretty hard the approach
The FSX misión is set in the old quito airport.
Nils Cassiers You have it so easy, sitting in your chair and flying a computer game. Try it for real.

Uncalled for, unnecessary, and idiotic.

+KLM Thanks, I,ll hope too! ;) But i need to wait some years, im 11 :)
Awesome video!
Do you actually sit in the simulator for the whole flight or is it sped up?
In this case i think they start close to the airport and practice the landing from there
Okay, because ain't nobody got time for 10+ hours of cruise
+patrik streng Time in the simulator is mainly to practise extreme situations: difficult landings, engine failure etc, apart from training young pilots before letting them fly a real jet.
Exactly
Very interesting!

Epic! How to determine appropriate airspeed for high altitude airports?
Screw the plane and the scenery. LOVE that jammed up music bruh!!

+MTB crossers We have one direct flight to Aruba a day!
+KLM Thanks and i enjoyed the flight in economy class 👍🏼😉
We are happy to hear that :-)
Why on a view from outside at Quito the 777 has the Asia livery?
KLM is flying to Taiwan and China for many years. In the past these two countries were in a conflict with each other, so as a result of this conflict China would not allow airliners into their airspace if they were flying to Taiwan. To avoid this situation KLM created a subsidiary called KLM Asia. The KLM Asia aircrafts were flying to Taiwan and the original aircrafts were flying to China. KLM I need that music it's so good please
+megaregigigas111 The music is composed by KLM. Unfortunately, it's not possible to download it but we are happy to hear you like it!
+KLM that's what I meant I wish I could download it and I know you guys made it so its just sad that I can't hear without the pilots talking over it
We are sorry we cannot inform you more positively.
+KLM it's not a problem you only said it how it is and there is nothing wrong with that :)
+KLM oh and I forgot to mention I'm very interested in planes and how they pilots work so I really appreciate these videos thank you very much for making my day better
How long does it take to make these types of videos?
+TAWProductions Thank you for your question. It takes approximately 4 weeks to make a Cockpit Tales video!
+KLM woe thats long
+Mai Bastiaens wow*
The beard gives nice dignified look to the captain.
Hope US one day will drop their implausible and unfounded beardofobia for flight crews!
KLM you're aviation empire mobile app needs updated I want to see a couple of new planes mostly hoping for an A-380
And you're B-747 does not have the correct number of seats
When I saw the title I thought, "That must be one strong airplane to fly 'through' the mountains instead of around them. Is there a drill on the front of the plane? 😃
Where do you get the background music?
klm wy dod you guys buy the a350
How is the Vref speed (at same weight) compared to sea level runways?
+alphaklg It's about the same; at 250T the Vref at 10000ft is only 1kts higher compared to sealevel. On the other hand the true air speed (TAS) increases with approximately 2%/1000ft. E.g. Vref Quito 163kts gives a TAS of around 184kts.
Why did they cut te tuchdown part out??
best company :)
+carlos mckay Thank you for the compliment, Carlos :-)
your welcome am in mine 5 months pilot school :)
+KLM for the next video it's should be" Why do airplanes have rudders? And how do they work?"
+Aldrina Balane Thank you for your suggestion, Aldrina.
÷☺☺☺I Love KLM:Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschapij😁😁😁
From 1918-2016👍👍👍😀😀😀😀
what plane was used in the flight to quito?
+dericktor5 It's easy to tell by it's cockpit. It's a Boeing 777 variant (probably the 200-ER, since KLM doesn't operate the LR version. It might be a 300-ER as well)
+Dromeascr It was a B777-200
This is so satisfying hahah :)
