I have been a orchestral violinist and an avid chamber music player for over forty years, and i thought i new it all. But like most things in life the older you get the less you really now. I have never heard Enescus octet before, its a great work, and Janine and friends play beautifully.
Bon Dieu!
I have listened to this three times now today; It seems to get better and better. This work has kindled an interest in me to hear more Enescu. I really was only familiar with his two Romanian Rhapsodies.
OMG! this is a masterpiece, brilliant! Outstanding performance and the piece of a genius! Enescu impresed me to tears....I have already listened the symphonies, rapsody,....and many others and now I am dealing with Oedip Roi, his opera masterpiece. I am stunned! What a brilliant composer...!
I'm ashamed to say I've never heard of this composer! I had to Duck Duck Go him to find out more about this amazing Romanian composer! Thank you AVROTROS Klassiek for uploading something I'd never heard before! And enjoyed immensely!
Az Enescu octetjei a Roman klaszikus zenemüvek gyöngyszemei, kellemes hangzásu és megnyuktató jellemü ,a zenei tájkertészetben való barangolásra késztett.
Great perfomance ! ( Tale il furore e la veemenza dei temi Allegro che i violisti e i violoncellisti non riuscivano a stare fermi coi piedi : mai visto nulla del genere ! ). Bravi, anzi bravissimi. (Va, altresì, ricordata la giovanissima età). Ancora, bravissimi.
A wonderful piece, wonderfully performed. ( IMHO, and if the composer had asked me, an added double bass would have aided the balance. I fell the same about the Brahms sextets, and the Schubert Quintet.)
It's interesting that you say that, because Enecue (I believe) proposed himself that this could be played by a string orchestra with solos added in where the group decides they are appropriate.
I wish I could share the enthusiasm of the audience and the endorsement of the comments listed, but most of the time I felt as though I was in a whirlpool of noise brought about by an overloading sound layers moving in random directions. But I will try again at a later date.
Great textural variety from an octet that is all strings! Enescu is shamefully underrated.
I love the crazy Schubert Quintet homage in the closing bars. Glorious performance as always from Janine and friends!

An outstanding (and intense) performance! I have been a fan of Georges Enesco since I was 19. A brilliant composer.
Performers: Janine Jansen (violin), Boris Brovtsyn (violin), Julia-Maria Kretz (violin), Alexander Sitkovetsky (violin), Amihai Grosz (viola), Julian Rachlin (viola), Maarten Jansen (cello), Jens Peter Maintz (cello)
What a brilliant performance! Thank you so much, Mrs. Jansen and friends.
Exquisite. Enescu is one of the finer of the fine Romanian 'cultural products' :)
Adevărat.

Yes, you are right: I agree: MORE Enescu please!!!
And Enescu wrote this at age nineteen...

You know, every day suffices his pain and his pleasures; an old proverb from us French !! .................. ;-)
It is considered to be the greatest romanian composer!

Energetic and at the same time lyrical performance of this challenging string octet with perfect synchronization of all the strings. Simply beautiful!
notaire2 -- True, very Compelling...Exuberant....and with meticulous attention to Detail!
@@steveegallo3384 Good point! All the members are paying full attention to the details of this perfectly composed masterwork.
If you liked this, try the Decet(dixtuor) and the Chamber Symphony. There is a recording(on youtube) of the Dixtuor conducted by Enescu
I love this piece so much! THank you SO Much for the upload!!!!
Dit is erg mooi muziek! Ik van hou Enescu! Geweldig!!!
One of my favorite "power" endings, along with Beethoven's 5th symphony and Shostakovich's 7th symphony. Also both in C major!
Dont forget the ending of Schubert's quintet in C major from which Enescu got the final bar for his octet
Superb,,thx for upload!

... Janine and Friends, octeto in C gr.t. op. 77, ¡sensacional! ...

God.
I wonder if anyone else thinks that the 3rd movement of this octet sounds a lot like the 2nd movement of Brahms' 4 symphony.
yes. somebody told me that Brahms actually wrote it undercover
nice
it's weird to see janine sitting down! she can barely contain herself. love that ardent expression!!

It also seemed to me that this rendition felt a bit muddy at times, but I think it's partly because of the recording itself
this is called wishfull singing.. keep trying
