I went in my local supermarket yesterday and the shelves were full which they hadn't been for a week so i asked the manager if they'd just got an order in, he replied "panic buying morons"
The problems aren't labour shortage it's panic buying and labour shortages.
Also there's 40,000 people awaiting licenses and only 17,000 EU drivers left. The backlog was caused by the DVLA going on strike but no one is reporting this on our national TV news channels.

All the way up to the 'Oven Ready Deal' he left business in the dark with how they were supposed to prepare for Brexit. Now the current Tory stance is it is their own fault for not being ready. He is someone who has "always championed immigration"? This is a joke right? He says that with a straight face? He has barely opened his gob and already told two lies already. The rest is more of the same... The UK is suffering from the pandemic putting pressure of all kinds on the system? Why are all the crisies not being seen everywhere else? No petrol shortage here. No crops rotting in fields here. No vet shortages here. No empty shelves in supermarkets here. No pigs with nobody to slaughter them here. No CO2 shortage here. No HGV driver crisis here. But of course, he tells you it is happening everywhere else and you still need me to explain this to you. To the rest of the World watching on, the UK has started looking like '1984'. It is almost too strange to believe. If it were a science fiction novel, the editors would advise you to tone it down as it is too unbelievable to be accepted by your audience. You need to take a step back and look at all of this objectively. None of this is going to end well for Britain.

The labour shortage is a problem. I know, thinks BJ, I will say that this is a short term consequence of our planned strategy for upskilling in different sectors of the economy. (Its a lie, of course, but then people expect me to lie and I can't let them down).
Wage increases 🤣🤣 inflation 4.1 percent if u consider what wages where at before pandemic to now 4.4 percent actual increase difference 0.3 percent we are winning wahoo 🤣🤣.

In Canada and the US, all of our petrol stations are open and functioning and our supermarkets are fully stocked. Make no mistake, if one quarter of all gas stations closed in the North America for a lack of supply, there would be an emergency declared and a lot of resources dedicated to fixing the issue, including an awful lot of accountability for those responsible. It is a crises, no where else is this happening at such a significant level.
That energy crisis in Texas was/is terrible. A cacophony or errors, under-investment, neglect and free market ideology. Bodger is not the answer, free market ideology is not the answer. Asia will eat our lunch.

This morning, I watched Boris being interviewed by LBC - or at least they were trying to interview him. His strategy it seems was to bluster as long as possible, while frequently looking over his shoulder (possibly to check how much time was left) because the longer he draws out the answers, the fewer questions that can be asked and the less chance he's likely to be asked anything challenging.
Pleased that didn't happen here.
Totally agree even Beth Rigby of sky news during her interview had to say “ we need to move on, I have more questions”

Waffle, waffle and more waffle. The Office for National Statistics (Govt Dept) has stated that the average real weekly wage (after inflation) was £491 p.w. at the end of April 2021. At the end of July 2021 it was £488 p.w. The Tories are comparing wage figures now to when they were at their lowest in the middle of the pandemic. Increasing wages are suddenly very important. However, when the triple lock on pensions was taken away the Tories told us to ignore wage increases as these were artificially high due to the pandemic and furlough. Double standards run right through this government. All of the things he wants to fix are the result of 11 years of Tory government.

So, the most productive countries in the world are either in the EEA or on the EU, with Ireland at number 2 with Denmark, France and Germany ahead of the UK. Pretty much tells you this stuff about the EU being to blame is pure BS. What the UK has is a culture of cheapness and not paying people for their work. Effectively the ideology pushed by their party for the last 30 years, which New Labour adopted. They also washed their hands of any form of production for services - it all turns out this was all a huge mistake. It's amazing how the Brexit slight of hand works and what it's mean to hide.
If he is fighting low wages, he could increase the wages of skilled NHS workers.
But who is going to do the low skilled jobs? No mention of that, or are all jobs now highly skilled? Who would have thought!

So the conclusion of Johnson's interview is that many of our main competitors, most of whom are in the EU, are roughly 20%+ more productive than us, therefore we didn't actually need to leave the EU in order to address our problems and Brexit was just a huge waste of time and money which is creating more problems than solutions.
Why is UK 20% down on our main competitors, (GDP/ capita), because we admitted far too much deadwood into our country.

High inequality results in low productivity. Tax the rich and increase minimum wage.
No don't increase minimum wage. Put a maximum wage in and cap the greedy executives based on how much they're prepared to pay the people that work for them. Make it so they can't take more than 20x their lowest paid worker and watch as wages rise and inflation doesn't.
@@shamanahaboolist I think that is also an option, though it does seem like it's potentially a bit messy. There's no reason they can't simply outsource all low paying jobs to an 'unaffiliated' but essentially subsidiary company to avoid such restrictions.
@@RisiCheshire Then just make the law to include sub-contractors. Employment contract or any other kind of work contract. Minimum hourly rate that anyone can be paid is 20x lower than the CEO's pro-rata hourly rate determined by their full remuneration package divided by their contracted annual work time.

Since the Brexit vote, the life is wonderful in UK. Excepted that we need a lot of lorry drivers, employees on farms, employees on factories, doctors, nurses, business men, entrepreneurs, IT engineers, students and so on.
Even the EU tourists are no longer in UK !
Even if wages increase, which I doubt they will. The cost of living will increase in reflection of this. It’s all relative, you’ll always have the poor, and you’ll always have the rich. Boris and lies are starting to catch up on him.

After this interview, Boris went away and gave the thumbs-up to 504,000 net immigration. He did the exact opposite of what he said he'd do in this interview.
"We need to invest in X" is the new BS-line from politicians, who have never been involved in investment decisions in a private company or private business. [Replace X with some fluffy feel-good idea the voters like]. You hear it in the UK (apparently), in my country, and probably in all countries with politicians with no management experience from outside politics.
Usually, "we need to spend more taxpayers money on X" would be a more precise description.

That is a VERY good point which cuts straight to the heart of the problem. There's far too much easy money floating about for these scroungers, they auction off tennis matches to party donors for tens of thousands and all sorts of other underhand ways of giving away respect and integrity in return for corrupt influence and bribes that nobody realises, but which if it were more widely known about, surely people would object. This interview definitely makes UK appear definitively 3rd world.
UK is the global laughingstock at this point but a majority of Brits still vote conservative so nobody feels sorry for UK.
The current situation will only get worse and if BoJo losses his mind and try to cancel the NI Protocol, then UK will be in the receiving end of tariffs from EU which will destroy the UK economy very quickly.
Another outcome is that UK will be unable to secure any trade agreement with any other nation since UK has then proven that it is ready to violate international law if an agreement suddenly does not work in their favor.

I despair listening to Mr Johnson and his childish reactions when he is challenged on some of the misguided answers that he gives often not related to the question. Also can he think before engaging his mouth.!

The answer is simple, and should have always been the way for the UK… Do what Switzerland has always done, and offer work visas only for specified periods of time, to specific trades, with no provision of permanent residency. The ‘Schengen Treaty’ was a capitalist hayday and really f***ed up the UK, with greedy employers getting very cosy with unlimited supplies of cheap labour... The British working class were then shat-upon for 35 years from a very great height indeed, whilst the middle-class grew and grew and grew… What is happening at the moment is only the beginning of a reckoning for this.
