    There are so many car reviewers on TH-cam but honestly I think I enjoyed listening to yours more than any other. You focus on the driving characteristics of the car such as comfort, sound and handling with a cheerful enthusiasm that makes you a pleasure to listen to while still offering a ton of useful information. You convinced me to choose the ES300H, the fact that it can make use of the quiet electric motor all the way up to 100 km/hr is a dream come true because that covers 98% of the speeds I drive at. I'm a little leery of driving a car quite so large as the ES because I'm presently driving a much smaller Acura TL but I think I can adapt. (Pete)

      Hi Pete, firstly thank you so much for your kind words 😊 That means a lot!! A lot of time and effort does go into them so love hearing that you and others actually get something out of them and enjoy them! I’m actually starting a second channel soon where it will be almost like a podcast so watch the space and feel free to follow me on instrgram too :) Now onto the car that’s literally me as well! I drive to gym in the morning and back home, then work and back so I barely do any driving! I think when I was driving the ES I would easily go 3 weeks without even thinking about filling up! Anyways good luck with the car shopping and if there is anything else I can help with please let me know :)

    Been checking out many reviews as I really want an IS 300h, this was definitely the best! You've described the emotions of the cars really well, and a lot of other reviewers on YT are sporty drivers that like fast stuff and can't appreciate it like you do.

      Haha mate!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! And I know right! That's the thing you know these 'reviewers' jump into it driving it like its an RS4 and wonder why it doesn't perform like that 😂 It's like using a spoon to cut a steak and then complaining it's not sharp! Nice review, but I have to say that 8.5 secs to 60mph isn't "slow". Bear in mind that 15 to 20 years ago, this was considered fairly quick. It's quick enough for most people's needs. I'd say 10 seconds plus would be slow.
    I agree about the comfort of the ES. I drove one a while back and it was so relaxing to drive.

    • @SergCarReviews
      @SergCarReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jgh548 Firstly mate thank you so much for watching 😄 it mean a lot! Definitely agree! To the average user it’s plenty! Most people only drive on roads that go up to 60klms (35mph) and barely ever even go on the highway.... The thing is so many people compare these to other cars on the market with turbos and all the rest of it that in comparison it is slow... If you like feel free to subscribe cos I’ve got plenty of videos coming this year :)

    Informative, honest review. I work for Toyota/Lexus in SA and I couldn’t fault your review. Of course acceleration times are subjective and to me these hybrids never seem slow, and thanks to their refined nature and progressive power output, feel refreshingly brisk from take-off; dialing in sport mode also means in real use it feels quick enough. Apple CarPlay & Android Auto another plus now. Thanks again

      ES still has embarrassing performance. I could run in my sweaty old Nike trainers (oops, plug for Nike) faster to 60 than the ES. In the UK on auto trader, the ES is listed as having a top speed of 112mph. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

    • @josh3221ify

      @@croydonmassive 112 is plenty for mature and responsible drivers, we are talking about people who don't feel the need to show off, don't worry once you are +35 years you will understand, 0-60 is not that important, unless you get stuck in a child mindset

    Hi mate, enjoyed your review👍. We are considering an upgrade for my wife and she needs a comfortable/luxury car (not an SUV).
    Since IS is no longer available we have shortlisted Lexus ES 300h/BMW 330i/Volvo S60 2022 models. I've seen some comments on ES sharing the same engine as Camry hybrid and not worth the money....what is your take?

    • @SergCarReviews
      @SergCarReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Harsha mate, firstly thank you so much for watching the video and asking for my opinion :). So firstly the BMW 3 and Volvo in terms of size are very comparable to the IS size and the reason I mention it is they have a rather sporty feel (short wheelbase, very tight). I often say the BMW is a luxury- sports car cos of how tight they are on the road. I say the IS is a sporty-luxury car because it can't compare to the BMW which is just so much better at handling around corners (but IS is smoother and more comfortable to drive).
      Now the ES is very different because its a rather long wheel base and I consider it to be a proper luxury car. Its a lot smoother on the road and takes in the bumps and road imperfections and gives you the driver and passengers just a sublime drive. Something the Camry doesn't do. Also when you drive the Camry to compare you'll notice how loose it feels on the road and tight the ES feels.
      It will come down to what your wife prefers but from what you mentioned - "a comfortable/luxury car" I would definitely recommend driving the ES and 3 series back to back to see which one she prefers. I would avoid any other brands.
      Hope this helps Harsha and keep me posted! If you have instagram you're welcome to text me there and let me know how you go :)

Haha I pretty much know them inside out and I drive in normal mode and can't remember now if I changed them to sports modes in the video however with the Hybrids and Lexus hybrids being CVT, the sports mode in them is purely a simulation with only the throttle response reacting quicker. The car itself won't be quicker unfortuantely...

    Thinking of getting myself one ES .... There is also a faster V6 engine version , however here in France we only have the hybrid available.... Bulletproof reliability, Great fuel economy , and fine attention for details, a jewel of a car for connaisseurs' taste...a car for gentlemen indeed ... The proof of how good it is, finding it as second hand, 3 years old used ones cost almost as brand new ones... Unlike german luxury cars that in 3 years lose almost 30-40% of their value in depreciation....

    I have a 2017 is300 and have just had a 2021 es300 on loan brand new , your review is absolutely spot on
    Is compact sporty snug feel and an amazing car to own does everything it says on the tin
    The ES feels huge tons of room unbelievable quiet, hybrid system is better in every way also feels like it has a lot more kick than the is and eats motorway miles with no effort, everything down to the cup holders is better in the ES, the general layout is better.
    What do I prefer after having both
    Hands down the IS !
    Why ? It suits me better i like the more compact feel and nimbler ride

    The IS300h has a system that it's maybe 15years old and used only on the IS today because GS300h and Crowns are not available anymore, But still stands up very well. Plus a Rear will drive car is a Real Man's Car and in the 300h configuration with the Hybrid battery on the back the weight distribution is around 50/50 rear / front. The IS really handles very well. The ES has a motor that is easy to install and it's used in a lot of Toyota and lexus mid range vehicles, more engine, less the price. I'm happy that the IS300h is still produced

    Nice review. Here in Europe lexus is 300h is about 10000 euros cheaper than es 300h, they own different segments respectivey,. IS compites against bmw 3 series, audi a4 etc instead es 300h against the 5 series audi a6. In my opinion f sport es is the best option because has more sporty lines and in comparisson to the IS the only handicap in my opinion is in terms of size for determinate users.
    Some people argues that the platforms change is worse but in my opinion it is not true, because it is more agile and dynamic, and afford a more sofisticated and beautiful esthetic than its predecessor gs.
    The fourth hibryd generation is more developed in terms of efficiency and battery s weight.
    In my opinion If you dont mind to own a 5 meters sedan the ES is a better option, observing that two models belong to different segments.

    Great to see you again Sergi. I am eyeing a second vehicle. I already own a 2019 GS350 fSport, and am wanting something fuel efficient. I am torn between the 2022 NX350h and the 2022 ES300h which I haven't test-driven either of. Would be great if you could get your hands on the new NX350 h for a review. @@magmasloth3619 No as far a I know, I am on a list for a 350h NX by year end. I went thru Lease companion. It will be a 2023. The new RX will be available as well, but I don't like that lumpy nose . Love everything else. I want a hybrid to save gas. I already have a performance Lexus in a 2019 GS350f sport. I also want one that handles better. I drove a 2021 rx350 and although smooth v6, I wasn't enthused with the driving exp. I also drove a 2021 NX and it handled much better. Therefore if the car is too large, the handling will be impacted. I don't want to feel like I am driving a bus. I might consider the 2023 Rx 350h, but again, it will be a larger vehicle with 246 hp and 33 mpg vs 239 hp and 39 mpg for the NX350h. Mase Hey Mase!! Great to see you’re back! And long story short, yes that’s right! The dilemma I find with the IS is that it’s still as slow as the ES, so it’s not like you’re getting a faster car but just sportier feeling car. It really becomes a question of what and how you prefer your drive feeling. As a daily I actually prefer (and do daily) the ES300h in the Sports Luxury (for the Mark Levinson it’s just sensational). I just love how smooth they are on the road! They’re comfortable and so soft that driving them becomes a treat. If I wanted sporty however I wouldn’t be going for the IS300h, I would be picking the 350 😂. Let me know how you go 😄

      IS is sporty nimble snug feel in the seats.

    0:04 0:04 I'm bitter and envious about this review. In the UK we are no longer allowed the IS300. Lexus decided to discontinue it here because apparently, UK residents prefer Lexus SUV's. They said, in their wisdom, that European and UK residents will still have access to the ES. Well, thank you very much Lexus. I'm retiring in 4 years and accordingly, I'll only be able to access an IS300 that is minimum 7 years old. It's unfair. Its a beautiful car and it will be available in upgrade designs...but not here. The ES over here is more expensive year to year comparison, ugly and slower. It's the only luxury sedan they are going to allow us to have. Probably punishment for Brexit. I'm gonna import a 1980s Pinto from the USA instead. 0:04
