I can kind of empathize with story #3, my cat was shot and nearly killed by my neighbour who claimed he had mistaken him for a raccoon, but he looks almost nothing like a raccoon except for the fact he's black and white.. It was terrifying since i was only 6 at the time and we almost had to put him down Luckily we could save him and 12 years later he's still my happy little motor

I am glad to hear your cat is still alive. I have an amazing tomcat, and if anyone ever harmed him, I would come out of it with all of my knuckles broken, but well worth it...
The Romanian mountains story really spooked me! I grew up in the nearest big city around the Rodna mountains (Bistrița) and I used to go every summer for a week or two to stay with my cousins who lived in Sângeorz-Băi ( a city right at the base of the mountains) but I never heard this story about actual people who lived or have been living there. And I remember how much we climbed those mountains!!😳 we hiked to Ineu’s peak every summer and to Pietrosul’s peak maybe twice.. wow…😮
"I thought it was a deer" was them trying to minimize and pass off blame in that situation. But as hunters it was their responsibility to be sure, it was their responsibility to know where they were and what they were hunting. Just a few feet and they would have shot OP. It doesn't matter that they "thought the horse was a deer" they are too stupid to be allowed to hunt.
@@im3phirebird81so you think they shot a horse, knowing that 1)they would expect to go to jail even though they didn't and 2)they would've known they wouldn't be allowed to eat the horse meat because it's the scene of a fucking crime? Nah it was obviously a stupid mistake.
I agree if I couldn't tell it was a deer I wouldn't have shot. Where I live a man I go to church with was shot in the head and killed turkey hunting. The guy who shot him lived out of state and just left, leaving us all to wonder what happened. It was a good 24-48 hours before they found his corpse. They finally tracked the shooter down but he walked without charge because he claimed it an accident and it might gave been but not an unpreventablle accident. This left a 20 year old woman and a 2 year old kid as a widow and fatherless. All because someone didn't make sure what he shot. Our state passed a new law making it criminal for someone to leave the scene as this shooter did. It was a horrible mess! I personally think the shooter should have gotten some jail time.

As an animal and horse lover, the custard story made me cry. I hope the men who shot the horse bump into karma in the worst way. I hope the lady gets back in the saddle. My heart goes out to her. Ruth. England
They where irresponsible and I'm sure they where punished accordingly. Accidents can happen, given that they ran to the kid screaming and waited for the authorities would lead me to believe that they weren't malicious. Had they wanted too, they could have just ran back into the forest and made their way back to their vehicle. It would have taken quite awhile for rangers to arrive to the scene and would have been virtually impossible to locate and charge them. Obviously had they killed the kid the state may have used more resources to track down these hunters, but for a horse they most definitely would not..
I feel so bad for the lady and her horse story. I agree, those men knew what they were doing and should never be allowed near any form of weapons again.
Donovan Donnegan This thought makes me really suspicious of it too. Hunters don't shoot for the head because it's such a small target and easier to miss and make the animal suffer. If they had truly mistaken the horse for a deer they wouldn't have gone for the head.

Perfect timing! Just had dinner sipping on some juice and it's pouring rain outside!!🌨️ 😌😌 Thank youuu for your awesome content we truly appreciate you 💓
The horse one was absolutely devastating. My first mare and I used to ride alone in the woods every day. Imagining what that poor kiddo felt, knowing the love we have for our horses (especially us horse crazy kiddos who practically worshiped the ground our horses walked on) makes me sick to my stomach.
That story about Custard is horrific. I feel so sorry for that girl!! Imagine seeing your beloved animal lying there with a bullet hole in its head and all of the gore associated with it. Especially at such a young age!! She was just a child and had to be exposed to something so truly traumatic. It hits home for me personally because I’ve actually ridden through woods when hunters have been around. Thankfully, they’ve only been after pheasants, so wouldn’t aim their rifles at a four-legged creature trotting along the track. Plus they’re actual responsible hunters who know what they’re doing and know to be careful with the horses and riders.
I love chilling it really helps me to sleep when I’m anxious or overwhelmed and my mind won’t stop running! Wowzers! As an avid nightly listener, I was not expecting to hear the 1st story from the town I grew up in, and still currently live.. Salcombe. I can confirm that although some details told here are inaccurate, this story is True, and happened here in June 2021. Thanks for the great content Lets Read!
I am just about to go to bed so this is great timing! I was just googling that first story (the victim is called Mee Kuen Chong). It sounds like an odd case as the accused is a young woman who is alleged to have killed her miles away in London.
I was kind of wondering about that story because I’ve never heard someone from the UK call running shoes actual running shoes. I thought they were known as trainers. I was wondering about the phone as well, but the story doesn’t give a date. Did he have a smart phone or an old-school flip phone? If he had a smart phone he could just look up his location on maps. I don’t know something just tells me this is not a first hand account of the story
@@SoCalRegisteredNurse I think you might be right. The news stories didn’t mention how she was found which is something they always mention. Articles often seem to start with something like, “a dog walker found…” etc. The running shoes thing might be them trying to make it understandable for an American audience. I have heard the word ‘flashlight’ used in a couple of these stories by Brits and I have never heard a Brit use that word in real life.
@@TheLondonLass I listened again and the date was given so I was wrong. It said 2015 so I imagine he could’ve had a phone that told him his location, therefore he was not “lost.” I don’t believe this is his story EDIT: I listened again and he said last June. I’m not sure where I heard 2015 from 🤪 I’m a tad distracted today. Husband went off on me yesterday out of nowhere when I sent him a video of a raccoon on our porch 🤷🏼♀️ He was stressed about “everything.” I asked “what’s everything? Please be more specific.” He couldn’t name what was stressing him out. I said “ok.” I wanted to say “chill, go play some COD or go take a nap or something” but I didn’t want to poke the bear. He apologized this morning but I’m giving him lots and lots of space. Anyway, several other people on this post said that murder had been solved and who did it
@@ryanhicks632 But he said he called the police. Maybe I need to listen to it again, but I’m still doubting this is a first hand account. I live in WA and I know once you get to the sticks you lose reception, or it’s spotty at best
Second story got me like ugh, and not only because of what could’ve happened to the tourists. I was already cringing when that superior tone of “stupid inbred locals” kicked in. As someone from one of those Central European countries, I’m honestly sick of Americans (I assume the author is from the States) thinking it’s all Hostel past Paris. I’m not saying the villagers didn’t have bad intentions, they clearly did. I’m saying the author called them dumb and inbred before any interaction even. Smh.
They stated the children were strange acting and malformed. Even if it's malnutrition of some sort of environmental toxicity, if they're too poor to provide a gestating fetus with nutrition, why would they have a sufficient breeding pool?
@Natural I'm always split between whether the people who go on reddit and write out these stories are just stupid oversocialized Hylics and so their rendition of events and manner of storytelling reflects that nature and conditioning, or, if they're made up. The tragedy is, I can't decide one way or another.
At 32:28 I'm confused why she did that. Maggots actually keep wounds free of necrotic tissue and infection, leaving them probably would have not been the end of the world, they were probably what was keeping her from getting sepsis. Pouring gasoline on her wound was actually a very bad idea.
The use of kerosene to heal wounds was common in some rural Latin American towns. At least that was the custom 50 years ago. I have never been able to find a medical reference for or against this custom.
Once you smell death you'll never ever forget, 45 years ago i was in the house where this old woman was murdered by one of her children. The body was removed to the corners office. The out line where her body wand found was still on the floor, but i still smell the decay odour i quickly got my tea tree oil & but a dab under my nose. This plays on my mine from time to time i even see her in my dreams although I have never seen her.
I love it when people try to explain every detail of a site after somebody disappears, as if they could step by step determine what this person was thinking. People change their minds all the time. Even if we had all the details, it's doubtful that they could explain what this person was thinking. In fact they probably still wouldn't know everything that happened.
Just wanted to say that I love you let's read and thank you so much for helping me to distract my mind and thaughts especially when I need to sleep ,almost every single night for the past 4 years I've listened to you or so maybe longer to be honest, anyways thank you again from Nottingham England 💗 even tho you'll probably never see this 💗
I'd love to find a bag of money any day, than a dead body. That's so creepy, it's definitely not something I'd like to find. I'd be traumatised forever
i had just heard the julianna story on my porcelain toilet before listening to this, but i hadn't heard it in such detail! the other video i heard of her story stated her 3 tips she remembered: find wildlife follow it to water follow water to civilization

Thank you ❤️
Yo Joel, thanks so much, I've been feeling really sick, like really really sick, after a long day, and out of nowhere, you hit me with a new notification, for my favorite type of stories, thanks for making me feel a little bit better.

Yay love getting notifications from you now relaxing in bed listening to you 🥰🥰🥰❤️
Just got in bed. The timing was perfect! 🥰
Perfect timing! Just had dinner sipping on some juice and it's pouring rain outside!!🌨️ 😌😌 Thank youuu for your awesome content we truly appreciate you 💓
Thank you for being the best part of my day ♥️
The horse one was absolutely devastating.
Love the woods stories! Specially when done by you!
Love your stories. Your voice puts me in a calm mood.
I love chilling it really helps me to sleep when I’m anxious or overwhelmed and my mind won’t stop running! What I was wondering is if it would be possible at all for you guys to be able to make two forms of ambience possible at once. Like chilling rain and crackling fire together…that would be fab.
Wowzers! As an avid nightly listener, I was not expecting to hear the 1st story from the town I grew up in, and still currently live.. Salcombe. I can confirm that although some details told here are inaccurate, this story is True, and happened here in June 2021. Thanks for the great content Lets Read!
To the men who killed Custer, there is a special place in hell reserved just for you 2.
To Julianna, you are so brave & so amazing.
Shooting an animal isn’t an accident
It said 2015 so I imagine he could’ve had a phone that told him his location, therefore he was not “lost.” I don’t believe this is his story
EDIT: I listened again and he said last June. Anyway, several other people on this post said that murder had been solved and who did it
@@SoCalRegisteredNurse he may not have had service where he was. I'm an avid hunter and I've been in the woods with no signal plenty of times!
@@ryanhicks632 But he said he called the police. Maybe I need to listen to it again, but I’m still doubting this is a first hand account. I live in WA and I know once you get to the sticks you lose reception, or it’s spotty at best
Never been this early. Have a good day people.
My guess is that the storyteller was British in that he called the other guys in his hiking group "lads." Americans don't do that.
His use of torch to describe a flashlight would lead me to assume that the author is from the UK..
It's just a ghost story there were no generalisations going on. Relax.
This is probably a terrifying list
Perfect timing again! I was getting bored.
Nice alternative to mysterious disappearances without explanation. This series shows just HOW people get lost.
i love your stories they help me with any job that i do, all your stories are always interesting thank you for sharing.😀
Some monsters just assume that anything that walks on 4 legs is a free kill. Such devilry shouldn't be allowed to breed.
Yeah I agree.
Two legs is fair game also 😈
Exactly
cope. hunting isnt gunna go anywhere anytime soon.
I bet you’re a vegan, huh?
Hindu vegetarian.
As a Romanian native the second story gave me chills but also made me curious to find the place too lol
Stay out of Rodna Mountains, signed an inbreed guru :))))
same, i never heard about something like this lol
I feel so terrible for the person with the horse story :( I love animals so much, I can see why they’re so traumatized…
By far one of my favorite narrators on the planet.
So if the meat was human flesh The milk was human milk. What was the potatoes?? That's nuts that is. 😳
20:00 wow that poor person is in serious denial about what she ate and drank in that Romanian village.
your voice is like a soft blanket and i can’t get enough, thanks for doing what you do 😌
At 32:28 I'm confused why she did that.
I doubt she would have known that, surprisingly few people do.
I'm glad you noticed this too. I just pointed out the same thing.
This is why I carry a gun with me everytime I go in the woods. Not a lot out there you can't kill or injure with 7.62x54r or .223 ap rounds
There isn't an armor piercing 223 round. But I agree with the 7.62 taking out most of what you'd run into out there.
Living in England must suck
Once you smell death you'll never ever forget, 45 years ago i was in the house where this old woman was murdered by one of her children. The body was removed to the corners office. The out line where her body wand found was still on the floor, but i still smell the decay odour i quickly got my tea tree oil & but a dab under my nose. This plays on my mine from time to time i even see her in my dreams although I have never seen her.
The horse story made my heart drop omg
A real shame about that poor girl’s pony
New lets read video 😁
I love it when people try to explain every detail of a site after somebody disappears, as if they could step by step determine what this person was thinking. People change their minds all the time. Even if we had all the details, it's doubtful that they could explain what this person was thinking. In fact they probably still wouldn't know everything that happened.
And Remember....Your entire life is pre-recorded
Love you Joel!!
That lady that survived in the jungle for so long is a serious bad ass!
The story with the horse definitely wasn't an accident
Exactly.
02:15 - skip the shilling
Just wanted to say that I love you let's read and thank you so much for helping me to distract my mind and thaughts especially when I need to sleep ,almost every single night for the past 4 years I've listened to you or so maybe longer to be honest, anyways thank you again from Nottingham England 💗 even tho you'll probably never see this 💗
I am from Romania and i never heard of people like that, or about any lost village in the mountains…
These were great stories.
Nooo the poor pony 😭😭😭😭
As always, great narration as usual Joel. Keep up the great work and keep on being the best narrator on TH-cam!

Crying and throwing up at the custard story
I'd love to find a bag of money any day, than a dead body. That's so creepy, it's definitely not something I'd like to find. I'd be traumatised forever
Joel I love the synthesis series the most !
Very interesting content 🙌
i had just heard the julianna story on my porcelain toilet before listening to this, but i hadn't heard it in such detail! the other video i heard of her story stated her 3 tips she remembered:
find wildlife
follow it to water
follow water to civilization
Woah! I'm never around when a fresh video is posted. Lol this is awesome!
