Ironic that Mastani's ancestral house seems to be more intact than the grand Shaniwar Wada palace of the Peshwas, which was burnt down in early 19th century and only has the outer structure intact.
Courtesy of some bad decisions (Peshwa Bajirao was prevented from building all floors in stone so the brick and wood floors after the 1st floor were vulnerable to fire), and poor upkeep by the Empire, which captured Shaniwar Wada, as most of it was destroyed in a fire of unknown origin in the 1800s. Really sad. It would be wonderful to have an architect digitally recreate what it might have looked like in its glory time.

Were they real? The trouble is the story of Peshwa Bajirao I and his second wife Mastani is almost entirely fictional. While Mastani certainly was his wife, historians say there is little to glean from reliable sources about who she was, or even about the nature of their relationship.
Yes. There is nothing mentioned about her in Marathi historical documents. From there one can know that she was the mistress of Bajirao. She got one child from him named Samsher. She was braught to Shanivarwada and Peshwa faced defamation bcz of her. In the last year, she was kept under housearrest for obstructing his political duty. She died mysteriously after his death. You can not get more information about her than this from Marathi documentation. Uska swabhav kaisa tha, uska std. of living kaise tha, what did she do in Pune in those 8-9 years, kuchh bhi information nahi hai. Mastani Pune exactly kab ayi aur Punese kaise gayab ho gayi, noone can tell. Absolutely no records. So people have done lot of imagination. So there are lots of myths about Mastani jiska koi historical praman nahi. But lovestory has been created in Marathi fiction and made popular so people believe blindly in it. You will be surprised to know that certain popular stories about her are just bhakadkatha. 1- Mastani was a skilled warrier and she faught many wars with Bajirao. There is no historical proof to show that she faught any war. In fact, she was not even taken to any military expedition by Bajirao. 2- If you travel from Pune to Saswad, just before Diveghat, there is a village called Vadki and there is a lake there which is called Mastani lake in today's times and local people say that this lake was built by Bajirao for her. This is half truth. Bajirao definitely built this lake in 1732 and there is reference of the same on records but there is no mention anywhere that he built it for her or he named it Mastani's lake. But it has been made popular now. 3- The most shocking myth is about her kabar at Pabal. Mastani was granted mahsul from 2 villages of Pabal and Kendur for her living. There was a house built for her in the same village ( which was provision of her living in future in absence of Bajirao) The house still exists and there is a kabr in the premises which is called Mastani's kabr but actually there is no evidance to prove that it is Mastani's kabr. Bcz there was no wellwisher of Mastani in Pune who would build her kabr. This kabr was definitely not there till Panipat war, proving that it was not built by Samsher. After Samsher's death in Panipat war, his wife Meher started living at this Pabal house along with her son Alibahaddar who was just 2 years old in 1761. Alibahaddar finally shifted to Banda in 1780. Meherbai expired few months before his departure. So historians have strong feeling that this kabr belongs to Meherbai ( and not Mastanibai) and Alibahaddar built it in memory of his mother before shifting to Banda. Uska bhi pakka sabut nahi hai. But aaj usko Mastaniki kabr hi kaha jata hai.
@@goodhuman4232 True and as per Kashibai's maternal family they say that Mastani wasnt even allowed to set foot in Shaniwarwada and Kashi and Mastani never met
@@priyankakedare8894 But she stayed at Shanirwada from 1736-39. But offcourse, Shanivarwada was a complex of many structures and her residence was in one corner. So may be, she was not allowed to come to that part where the family stayed. In a letter written by Ambajipant Purandare in 1737, he mentioned- सौभाग्यवती काशीबाई आणि मस्तानी यांजकडे न्यूनता होत नाही, अधिकताच आहे.- so they shared good relations. Actually, we can not say anything confirmed bcz there is very negligible information about their personal lives. Also notice the difference in addressing two women by the chief caretaker of Peshwa family. It proves that the status of Mastani was that of a mistress only.
@@goodhuman4232 so you really think that peshwa bajirao would ever keep a mistress with him ?? Pity !! The truth is peshwa always treated her with respect and she was his wife and not mistress. Though people may have regarded her as a mistress but a man like Rau will never keep a mistress with him like a Mughal!!
And whether peshwa and Mastani had a real strong bond and love who knows?? Just because no documents are available it doesn't mean they didn't had intense relationship, otherwise they wouldn't have had a son together!
Bajirao being a great warrior should not hv betrayed his wife...especially someone like kashibai...when he had gold,he went in search of stone.....most disgusting thing
Bajirao was characterless. He broke his own home. Mastani didn't break it. He broke his own home when he went with Mastani. Bajirao broke his own happy family. Yes he fell fir mastani and that's why mastani is related to it..but if anyone is a homebreaker here, that's Bajirao
So true, I will never understand why and how people at that time accepted people having more than one wife. If mastani would have been hindu so it might have not created this much fuzz, but again the pain for the first wife will remain the same. We are luck that hindu culture have abolished this so called pratha of marrying more than one wifi, otherwise women would have been more vulnerable😢
What’s this ‘beti veet de dia’ nonsense story is? Any right minded person can understand what an Indian father can do. Chatrasal must have given marriage proposal of his daughter with one third of his kingdom as dowry. Bajirao took the fortune and the girl. But the decision troubled him in his community.
She was never tortured. What you saw in the film is fake thing. She was put under housearrest but not chained and tortured. And she herself was responsible for her housearrest. The historic facts are never shown in the fiction. Bajirao was angry with his community ( for boycotting his family bcz of his dharmbhrashta acharan ie. drinking, consuming meat and keeping woman without marriage) So he was asked by his brother to go away from Pune for a while. Bajirao wanted to go on military expedition of Naserjung so he moved to Patas, a close town to Pune where he held a military camp so that armypeople could join. Few days after his departure, Mastani came to know that he was not in Pune. So she escaped from Shanivarwada and went to Patas. This created much fuss at Patas bcz the large army gathered at Patas. Bajirao sent her back from Patas to Pune and proceeded for the battle. This news spread so fast that Shahu maharaj had to take note of this episode. This was the most immature behaviour of Mastani. Kya ye bat filmme batayi gayi hai? This is how fiction hides real history. When she returned to Pune, she was put under housearrest. Think now, why Bajirao did not do anything to take her out of housearrest when it was easily possible for him.
@@goodhuman5452 from where I knew this ...about reading ur cmnt my curiosity increased a lot to know the real truth , and it's true in film most of the things r fake

But she stayed at Shanirwada from 1736-39.
Thanks a lot for this video @Dilpreet
Real Bajirao Mastani's room was so small🌝😅
sbb bajirao - mastani krte rhe aur mujhe fikar thi kashibai ki
Thumbs down only because you were so careless about wearing a mask
Sorry but the reason was Mask ke sath Camera focus nahi le raha tha. Ab thoda thumbs up kr dijiye 😇

Mastani ne shadi nahi ki Baji Rao se
Bhai Punjab me shaheed bhagat singh ji ka jo ghar hai uska video or detail dalo na plz plz
Mastani was a characterless homeracker man nobody should be interested in her imagine
Any happy family n mastani comes n take your father from you
Bajirao was characterless.
Very nice information ..first time watching your video 👍🏻

Why every time besically ???
Thankyou so much for this video
I don't who is mastani bajirao is most important warrior for me
Hum itne gore kaahy ho rhe hain 😀😀😀 Video bohot acchi h
17 sector ke shoot chal reya c paji?
hanji
Looks like mastani was not so important.
महाराजा छत्रसाल हिंदू थे और मस्तानी उनकी बेटी थी तो मस्तानी भी हिंदू ही हुई ना 🤔
Improve your video….. it’s too shaky and showing more of your face rather than places
Pls respect aya nahi ae the baji rao the great Worior jinke jesa koi ni hua so pls
Mastani mehal needs proper maintenance.
Thanks
Bajirao bhagake le gaya tha,,,he was a peshwa respect him ...

Camera kud p hi lgaya howa
When I watched the movie. I sobbed a lot.. How they tortured her n can anyone tell me what happened with her son?
I think he grew up and participated in some war and was killed in it
She was never tortured.

You will know history only from historical documents. But for that you must know someone who has studied them actually.
Akang
She was not at all tortured. It is filmy masala. How she died n when she died, no records are available.
But her son was raised by his wife Kashi n family accepted him. He lived with them at Shanivarwada only. He was martyred in Panipat war along with Sadashivrao ( Chimaji's son) n Vishwasrao ( Bajirao's grandson)
Very very special thanks

Sir mastani was hindu

Chatra saal ne q apni hi beti Ko bajiraw Ko Bhetreen kiya ayyashi k liye ,Baji raw Ko to jab apna teesra putra mana r usne tesra putra kehne per tisre putra k nate Sam patti b le li fir is riste se to bajirav ki behen lagi maatani to apni hi behen se premika r bv k rishte me q band gaya.r pita hote huyechatrasaal ne apni hi beti use ayyashi karne k liye q de di jabki chatra saal bajiraw Ko apna tisra beta baba chuka tha
These all are nonsense. It’s understandable Chatrasal gave marriage proposal of her daughter and in dowry one third of his kingdom.
