      Marilyn played the dumb blonde to the hilt in this film.this is one of those films that you can't make a reboot or a sequel too( besides all 3 of the leads are long dead).

      @@Pelusonmilk did you know that Truman Capote wanted Marilyn to play Holly Golightly? She didn't like Audrey Hepburn for that role. I think I would've liked the movie better if Marilyn starred in it.

      Fun Fact: Marilyn actually had it in her contract that she would only make colour films after starring in Niagara, but Billy Wilder managed to convince her to star in Some Like It Hot in black and white because it worked better for Curtis and Lemmon's makeup.

      +under88Me -- I agree in principle. Some women get stuck with the "Little girl voice" and, for one thing, it's annoying and not attractive to me.
      But I don't have an opinion on Marilyn Monroe's acting. The movie looks like a lot of fun from this clip.

    • @tavfront6308

      In fact, she desperately wanted to shed the "dumb blonde" image that made her famous and be taken seriously as an actress, which is why she went to study with Lee Strasberg at the Actors Studio in 1955. If you've seen any of her serious films (Niagara, The Misfits) or listened to rare interviews, you will hear the difference between her normal speaking voice and this exaggerated "bimbo" voice which is characteristic of the persona for which she is most remembered.

    • @melmagnifique6954
      @melmagnifique6954 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      That's what makes her one of a kind. Her soft voice was very feminine, it's what every man dreams of in a woman. I'm a lady and I have a naturally soft voice and it sounds better than a normal vocal cuz usually women sound like boys and not feminine..

    • @headphonic8
      @headphonic8 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@melmagnifique6954 Except her voice was not "naturally soft". It was an act. And a very obvious one if you ask me, but she was a great actress who made people believe otherwise. But don't just trust my word, look up interviews if you don't believe me. In some rare ones she speaks normally and it's clear she has a separate "normal" speaking voice.

      Umm, I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say, but this entire movie was filmed in black and white so they are no colour versions of it.
      It was filmed that way because the director believed that the makeup on the two men pretending to be women had a greenish tint, so the black and white complimented their appearance and made them look more like women.

      @lewienew ปีที่แล้ว

      Literally everyone who knew her has said that Marilyn wasn't dumb. She just got stuck playing dumb characters in most of her movies.
      While filming this movie she had an infection and was pregnant with a history of miscarriages, and the director was specifically instructed by her doctor to only let her work half days, starting in the afternoon. He scheduled full days and then bitched about her when she turned up "late". I wouldn't be shocked if she did 47 takes on purpose to piss him off. It sounds exactly like something she'd do. She could be vindictive.

    Even as a kid, I'd watch this and ask myself: Are we actually supposed to believe that these men in drag are convincing everyone they meet that they are actually women? So none of the other characters are able to figure it out? Come on! It's too much to swallow, so the entire script feels pretentious to me. I know it's a screwball comedy, but having to suspend disbelief is too much to demand of an audience.
