Toyota builds simple vehicles, and durable engines/ transmissions, which tend to last 250k+ miles. Hyundai has made improvements and you might get 200k+ miles with it's current engine/ transmission setup. The interior and exterior has a more interesting and modern design. I would buy the Hyundai, since I don't hold onto cars for 15+ years.
Your reviews are great! Thank you for keeping them short and to the point and full of all the necessary information
Ben, Thank you for the great reviews however I was wondering if you could include reviews on the carpets and fabrics of the the vehicles you do in the future. Idk if anyone has asked you this already. Again, Thank you.
We purchased a new Hyundai Tucson AWD and extremely happy with the car. Only around 500 miles so far. Got my fingers crossed just in case it starts to go South.
Good luck with it! I bought my Hyundai Elantra in 2018. At idle it sounds like it did when I bought it 116k miles ago. Keep up on the maintenance and it'll be good. I'm really impressed with hyundai thus far.
I've had Hyundais all through my adult life, starting with a 94 Exel, contunuing with a 2005 Tucson, and a 2017 Santa Fe and now the 2024 Tucson. The only engine issue I had was with the 05 Tucson, an it happened when the car was turning 14 years old... the 94 Exel left my hands when it was 15 years of age because someone broke my driver side window and at the time I had no money to replace it, and the 2017 Santa Fe went to the insurance as a total loss (still mourning my baby). I'm a Hyundai girl through and through, but I admire other brands as well. I think the only popular car brand I haven't had the chance to drive yet is Toyota... Maybe one day I'll get the chance.
they have very reliable engines!!
I have the new Tucson 2023 and i like it so much!🎉
At 2:00 minutes you say the key fobs have same functionality, but the tuscon has remote start while Rav4 doesn't.
Enjoyed this rating. I would also like to know the side window size. Which has larger windows for better visibility.
The Tucson and RAV4 while they both has 4cyl. 2.5L engine and 8spd transmission which I do like, they all have pro and con. The winner is how much you paid at OTD price. I love Rav4 limited (I have 2017 Highlander platinum), but if I'm serious about to pick one of those two today... I may end up with Tucson limited. My reason is: #1- 360 degrees camera view, on Rav4 limited is a $2K option, Tucson limited is standard, it also has blind spot "camera view" not just a blinking lights when you turn signal to left or right which Rav4 limited doesn't have that feature. #2- Price, I can negotiate the MSRP on Tucson also, Tucson currently has $1500 rebate on 2024 as I'm typing this message while on the Rav4, you are lucky if dealer didn't up charge the MSRP and if you can find the color that you wish. #3- The factory warranty of Tucson, and #4- The technologies and styling of Tucson especially interior, Rav4 looks dated. Speaking of technologies, I found out on the remote of Tucson limited, it has Parking aid feature that Rav4 doesn't have, you can make the car move forward or reverse slowly with nobody inside. A feature that make my jaw drop!
Currently trying to decide between the Rav4 Hybrid, vs the Tucson Hybrid, vs the Crv hybrid. NGL atm leaning towards the Tucson, the top end trim levels of it seem "nicer". Going to test drive them all again over the weekend. Im in Alaska so the ground clearance was also something I had to look at.
I only got 150k miles out of my Sorrento. KIA's and Hyundai's don't last like Toyota's do. They do however look very nice and you get more bang for your buck in the short term.
Yeah, you should have compared the hybrid versions and a 2023 models! The RAV4 comes with a fully digital cluster and a 10 inch center screen! A big difference!
The Hybrid Tucson also has a 10.25" infotainment screen, the one in this video only had the 8"... so sorry, still not a win for Toyota.
I love Toyota's and I'm very comfortable buying a brand new Toyota. I bought the 2023 Rav4, but the Hybrid model, and Toyota has perfected their Hybrid synergy drive. It's smooth as silk. That said, Toyota's are not for everyone. Everyone is different and has the own preferences.
Hi Ben, You reviewed so many cars. Can you guide me on what would be my best shot for an SUV with 16k? I want something with lots of paradoxes: fast and powerful but fuel efficient, durable and luxury but cheap, modern looking and safe and smooth riding but cheap to repair.
whete is transmission in depth research amd engine
Thank you😮
Tucson Wins, better warranty, roadside assistance, design, handling, and most important availability
You sure will need "roadside assistance" when it leaves you on the side of the road..🤣
@@bviflyboy lmao
@Rockinthehill they have availability because no one wants to buy crappy Hyundai and they can cancel your warranty if you don't do maintenance with them
I rented a Tucson recently and I was pleasantly surprised. It is very quiet on the highway and the suspension is fairly plush (my personal preference). It does feel underpowered at times and yes, the transmission seems to be tuned to keep you in the higher gear whenever possible. But still, I enjoyed the vehicle.
Bought a 2023 Hyundai Tucson Limited last winter. I tested most of the other crossovers. The RAV4 just seemed crude and cheap inside (materials), not as quiet and smooth on the road plus the driver's seat area was really tight for my long legs. It was more expensive and the dealers wouldn't budge on price too. Toyota definitely needs to redesign that model. Can't get by on "but it's reliable" forever.
rav4 has better resale value, low maintenance cost, better power, more milage, proven hybrid system, my no1 pick rav4, then hyndai, and honda crv
I actually like the exterior look of the RAV4. But technology wise, Hyundai in the higher trims cannot be matched with Toyota.
I personally don’t like the design language of current Toyota’s. Reliability wise I think they’re both gonna be around the same, they’ll both have some issues. When you take of the rose colored glasses you will see Toyota is not the reliability king it was in the past, transmission slipping, oil consumption, faulty emissions sensors and evap canisters. The Tucson has some faulty foward collision systems, and in Hyundai fashion bad TCS programming that cuts all your power when it detects loss of traction, makes pulling out into large streets a bit scary when it’s wet, usually just turn TCS off when turning out quickly on wet roads. And can’t forget the engine failure from the Theta II but they’re using an improved platform now. I think it’s really up to preference. I personally don’t like the looks of Toyota’s, and I am on top of my maintenance. Both with proper maintenance should be fine, if you come through an issue the warranties should take care of you, you just gotta find a good service center.
Unless I missed something, I didn't hear Ben comment on cabin noise. Sound insulation one thing that is important to me. I'd like to know which vehicle had the least cabin noise.
I’ve driven both and by far Hyundai beats Toyota in cabin noise. The cabin noise in Toyotas is too loud.
@@lynnduong7525I second this. The Tucson is wayyy quieter!
I was the owner of Toyota Land Cruiser for several years and today I made a Tucson lease. Tucson as a 3 years lease is perfect! Is a city suv full of features, enough for three years! The rav4 it’s good if you are on the market to buy but for that range of price, definitely Hyundai. If you want a Toyota is better for all terrain purposes, in my experience
The tucson looks so much better in my opinion
Like me, i need Tucson interior and rav4 performance, that's all, but here, in Saudi arabia, panoramic comes only with rav4 premium grade. I am going to book one of them but still not sure which one. Toyota needs to work on interior for sure.
It’s obvious that the Interior and exterior styling of the Tucson are in an entirely different league from the RAV-4. It’s embarrassing to see them next to each other.
Good ❤
In an ad, I see the Hyundai Tucson, and the person who is speaking in the ad says that the Hyundai Tucson is the better one!😅
Nice car
Tucson looks much more distinctive, the RAV4 is indistinguishable from most other cuvs.
Feels better, does better,Hyundai feels sportier… I am not getting the why/what about RAV4 better? Do you like better the engine noise of the RAV4 or what? I am a sure there is valid/maybe subjective reason behind but I would love to understand it 🙂
I wouldn’t trust buying anything from Hyundai. They have entirely way too many reliability issues and lawsuits from their customers according to their history and standards.
Just bought 2023 RAV4, it's awesome.
Japanese ❤
Toyota all the way
I like Toyota ❤
Nice job comparing a baser model 2019-2022 RAV4 instead of loaded 2023 RAV4🤣🤣 you know what you did
For 2024 the base models are almost identical In features. RAV4 has a bit more horsepower, the Tucson has the 5 year 60k warranty and 10 year 100k powertrain. I’m looking at both now. The Hyundai dealership is offering a $0 down 36 month 15k mile a year lease for $580 a month and $560 for 12k miles a year. The dealerships for Toyota won’t budge on the money down for the lease. Purchase options are about the same except the Toyota dealership are adding like $2k or more for “market adjustment”. RAV4 base has hubcaps, which I found ridiculous, but easier to replace if damaged lol
Anyway… at this point it comes down to price, warranty and personal preference if you’re looking for the base models.
This is NOT a top Hyundai... frak, it has the tiny 8" low-res screen in it... you're just a Toyota fanboi... sorry a baseline Hyundai is better... had he used a top trim Tucson, it would have had a bigger infotainment and a lot more features... lose-lose for Toyota fanbois.
Buy a Toyota if you want a car for a life time
Both are good cars, but im taking Toyotas reliability any day. Maybe Hyundai will change my mind in another 20 years
Who cares about none hybrid models??
Me, because you don’t really save any fuel if you don’t have about 10 000 km p.a.
@@elida3233 U do save it and its very obvious to u when u drive hybrid.
The Hyundai will be worthless in 10 yrs. The interior is much nicer, but the outside is already starting to look overdone. The rav is more understated and will age well
Nice way of saying Toyota hasn't done a damn thing to update their interiors in over a decade. Dated is dated no matter how much word salad you throw at it.
Great for used car buyers. Used Toyota are being sought after so that why the resale price is high plus I don’t see why people would want a normal boring looking RAV4 over a Tucson that have expensive German car design
Hyundai hands down
Toyota, every time........😎✌️
Nomore... hyundai better ;)
@@ohdubman As much as I like Hyundai, they tend to cost cut in areas of a car, in places they probably shouldn't.
@@ohdubmanToyota is way better than hyundai in quality hyundai motor doesn't last past 200K.
@@ohdubmanMy sister bought a 2017 tucson brand new out of the dealership the motor went out at 80K miles 🤷♂️
@@boricuaguerrero6632ok
Hyundai interior far superior, the digital gauges and fully integrated center info screen, the Toyota has that wierd "iPad glued on to of the dash" look from 2010 that is susceptible to damage, jarring visually, blocks vision, is in direct sunlight, hard to clean around/behind, and a high, sharp object that could be an issue in a crash.
Hyundai is more comfy and handles better, costs less, far superior warranty.
Your gonna need that warranty
@@ebaensey2983 at least it's covered unlike the known issues with Honda engine's and their timing belts.
@@Jack_Stafford unless the dealer decides you didn't maintain it enough
But the rav4 is the largest selling car in the world.and is built to run forever
Not anymore
Ya, that no longer is the case, and current Rav4 engine has multiple recalls on it.
187 HP 😂😂😂
Interior of the rav is pathetic. But what isn't with Toyota.
Toyota all day, Hyundai is no where close to Toyota in Comparison. Especially in Reliability and great handsome looking vehicles.
The Toyota has a cheap o interior
Ill rether go with Toyota better quality than that overprice garbage hyundai 🤷
The Hyundai will likely last half of life the rav4. They're one of the worst car manufacturers in the world and are breaking left and right.
My father is still driving his 15 year old Sante Fe with no issues. Only maintenance work
72,000 miles on my 2017 sonata and no issues just regular maintenance
Toyota fans dick riding and being oblivious to the fact that new Toyotas have more issues compared to old Toyota’s.
My mom still has her 2005 santa fe with 178k miles and never an issue other than regular maintenance
I've owned 3 sonata, currently on my 3rd. 1st had 130k miles, no problem. 2nd I noticed some bearing shavings in my oil change and they replaced the engine fully at 70k miles, paid my car payment, got me a loaner the whole time. Current had 40k miles. Have 2 other in the family accent with 80k, no problems and a Santa cruz, no problems at 30k. All manufacturers have recalls and all try to hide them if they can. I cab say my family owns other vehicles and their manufacturers have left them very disappointed with the warranty and customer service.
Hyundai steering wheel design is easily the ugliest in the industry.
