- Killer event but the old big block can not handle the torture unfortunately, the engine oil just got extremely hot. Which sucks as its such a fun event but I cant really go back in this car unless I fix this problem or maybe go dry sump with a big oil tank, Engine oil goes from 210f to 250+f in just one lap. No room for an oil cooler, not sure if methanol could probably be the key to solving that problem but I will talk to some people and see if that could overall keep the water and oil temps down. The steering in this absolutely sucks at times, full lock one way and when going back the other way the steering goes stiff as hell so you really gotta man handle the wheel sometimes. Not sure if that is the factory power steering box doing that or the Astra pump but its a pain in the ass. GOOD NEWS on the engine is it was a rocker that lost its roller pin and a lash cap fell off one of the titanium intake valves and the lifters and cam are good. Caught it nice and early

Credit due to the engine builder!! That thing is always on song , you should do a maintenance video mate . Obviously you would do alot of it to keep it fresh , maybe a video after this event from start to finish . Wicked steering mate keep it up #livingthedream

God dame you can drive and being able to pull the car up even on grass says how good car control you really have
I was there that night, this was my favorite car to watch. Was up on the top where the garages are when the marshal guy pulled you off the track he didn’t look happy 😂

The reason why they don't like the burnouts when people spin is because the other drivers can't see through the smoke that gets left behind and makes you unpredictable to the other drivers trying to pass you. As a drifter myself there last night it makes it frustrating for me when it happens and have to slow down because of those reasons.
I used to drift a hj tonner a few years ago and switched to a manual steering box to make the steering more predictable, but I only had a 253 not a big block 😅

I get why they do it but what I have found when my car is going if I don't hold it flat the car literally just lines up the wall and goes straight for it, I learnt that the hard way 😬

No oil cooler for engine and thats what it needs, just a bit space limited.

What kind of external oil cooler are you running I’m running Mocal Oil control system, OC5197-10HD made in England I’m running a 5Lt Turbod with 1000 HP kit fitted never have any cooling issues at all with the engine oil It works so well l think it’s a bit of an overkill

Ahhh well that's the fun of drifting a burnout car but does that mean if you have to pull the Moter out will you make it to powercruise???
I might not have to pull it out, depends on what happened to the lifter. Ill find out this afternoon, I have some lifters here I can put in so long as cam isn't damaged and there isn't heaps of metal gone through engine.
