I have actually been playing piercers in the past 3 days. The sweet spot ive found is 3 on a fast build between 3500-4500ps. Play them more like shotguns and get in close and they are so fun. Absolute weapon stripping machines. However from what ive seen, the upgrade to fidget and imp really isnt worth it unfortunately cause they only get an absolutely tiny damage bonus. Remember to get right up to the enemy cause you will get no where trying to use them like other machine guns, they are now one of my favourite weapons i love them so much.
Relatively new to the game, so I only played the common and rare MGs. Here is my opinion: About Chords: They're very easy to armor, even without tilting your build, and at 30 durability/energy, they're more durable than Vectors and slightly below Spectres while having a much smaller hitbox and allowing more turrets on a car. Just space them a lot because they're allergic to explosives. If you're beginning and don't know what you're doing, this is probably the safest choice. Vectors, Defenders and Piercers are overall more specialized and require to adapt your gameplay. I see lots of people with funky Piercer/Vector/Rapier combination or simply Piercers or Vectors on cars that would be better off with another type of MG. Doing this will simply make your car perform worse and bloat your PS, so in doubt: stick to Chords and low PS some more. About Vectors: At 24.6 durability/energy, they're the flimsiest MG, and they only accept a few pieces as armor or you'll have to tilt your build. They make up for it with the best base DPS/energy amongst regular turreted MGs, dealing much more damage than Spectre if you don't use its perk to its full extent (wich might explain with Spectres aren't common). I don't use coolers or radiators with those, because it's enough for tap-firing already, and if a fight lasts more than 5 seconds you're going to lose them anyway with their horrible durability. Instead, I'd suggest slapping as many Vecs as your energy allows to maximize burst and tap-fire potential, then use the remaining energy for survivability. Radar detector+cloak is the obvious choice. I use boosters on wheeled cars instead, probably the design I'm the happiest with so far, and extremely cheap when it comes to gear. 3 vectors, a Growl, a couple Avia boosters and a few hours of flipping yourself on every map while trying to get the hang of it, and you'll hardcounter all the fafnir users at 4k. About Defenders: It has worse accuracy than the turreted MGs. Even tap-firing doesn't cut it past 100 meters. Unlike Protector, you can armor the lower half (since the barrel is slightly above the center). It'll screw your firing angle, but if you hide them behind the cabin and tilt your build forward they become very, very hard to degun from the front. Much harder than Protectors. The box MGs are the only ones I play radiator>cooler with, because the horrible accuracy makes them unsuitable for poking opponents to death at range. About Piercers: I hate them, and game data seem to suggest you're shooting yourself in the foot by picking them over Chords. They barely average 2/3 of Chords damage last time I checked (Vectors were slightly lower than Chords too, but I suspect it has to do with ineperienced players and bots rushing with them more than the weapon's performance). And while the DPS is good, the total damage of a salvo is underwhelming and innacurate. A single Piercer spits 140 damage before overheating. Even if you miraculously hit with all your bullets, Junkbow has 182 durability, and Fafnir 261. A single shot from those shotguns deals almost twice as much damage as a Piercer can tank. As a close-range weapon, it's outclassed. As a mid-range weapon, it's outclassed. Even shooting down missiles isn't much easier than with a cannon because of the spread.
You forgot the hornet, do it all over again!!!! Worth noting is in the rpfg class the stats are almost identical all around, the epic and legendary depend on their perks. And off the top of my head defenders are better than vectors in every way but angle, but people forget that vectors trip over each other if you try to rotate them 90 to 180 degrees, I feel it's best to get used to aiming with your vehicle.
Defenders have meh accuracy, and some opponents you want to shoot at while gtfo, like sparkvesters or fafnirs. A friend plays full Defenders and likes it, but he's on small tracks, with solves the problem almost totally.
Quick hint: fire machine guns in bursts of 3 for the chord, vector, and Spector, This also works with the aspect after you heat it up but it takes a bit more practice. If you have a rapid fire machine gun try to keep it in a 4-6 burst by saying “son of a bitch” while firing and stoping after the “ch” at the end. This will let you fire for longer and save your keyboard/mouse from getting smashed over and over again.
the most exhausting thing about machineguns is that you need to keep pressure on the mouse every 1 and a half second. perseus co driver can help with that though
I wish you would do updated videos Mr G. I love your content, I've seen almost all of it. I know people complain about the state of the game, but I'm a newer player so I don't know any better. It's a very unique game and absolutely a ton of fun. My big gripe is it's a hellova grind even dumping money in. I wish the economy were better. If I buy a $70 pack I should get a goddamn relic weapon
I built a medium cabin tank so it's high speed and it has 2 adapter MG's and 2 piercers on top so I have a fast, durable vehicle with crazy fire rate and damage that can shoot a full 360 circle around my vehicle. Pretty good design.
I really like protectors, defenders, and tacklers. Their box shape allows them to be easily protected. They have good accuracy and damage. And they only need 3 energy, 4 or 5 of them can do a lot of damage.
I melt people down with the 2 m37 piercer, 2 fidget machine guns purple, rn seal radiator, generator, and R2 Radiator. Absolutely melts cannons and up in seconds close range. It's best to use the Generator, 12 energy Body, RN seal, with camouflage, and the 4 guns. Plus the bonus from co driver Nomad
uh, id like to make an exception, you said u wont find vectors on most tanky builds, yet im standing here with a jawbreaker, a hulk, 2 vectors, and a pu-1 charge
Well, a test of damage could be good but next time I guess. I'm an aspect player, they are not meta anymore in CW, don't buy them even if they are kinda cool. If you really want, don't put any radiator or cooler, just put an aegis and engine for better mass on legs. Tackler are easy to use, but less accurate, again use aegis on tank. In general, if you tap-fire, don't use cooler, only radiator and some builds, like fidgets, but use them on Favorite for the nice cooling perk
So Imps.. Does the damage bonus stack, ie 20% if you've got 4, or is it just 5% across the board? Kinda curious because if it's just 5%, why run more than 1. I kinda love machine guns & trying to decide if I want some Imps, or just make a 3rd Aspect. I think anything > Vector means learning to keep ROF in the sweet spot for max dakka.. So unlike drones, or caucasus, they're probably weapons best for those co-ordinated enough to walk and chew gum at the same time.
Vectors seem to be the sub-par machine gun atm. Imo mostly about their terrible shape as a gun, which makes it almost impossible to protect. If you learn the gun it can dish some incredible damage mid-close range, but miniguns and defender-type just feel better options.
@@satan7350 All machine guns-miniguns are good on tower builds for pve, except maybe the limited angle ones. If you invest on one extra radiator, equalizers are a better solution for everyhing. And a more versatile one at that, since you can play with 3 and 4 if you want to play on lower ps. Defenders and their epic replacements are also a better pvp solution, which leaves vectrors 3rd best solution fr pvp and 2nd for pve. The only ps vectors are actually viable is 6-7k on fast builds with an optional utility on vehicle. Everything else feels sub par. Why use vectors when i can build my equalizers and kill things from further (safer) and dish around the same damage with the potential of melting opponents that dare to stay in my range or immobile for more than 7 seconds, for the downside of 10 hp less and building around 1 extra small gun. It is more or less the same story with shotguns, there is no real good reason to use thunderbolts when you have fafnirs, they have more damage and more structure making them best at what shotguns are for, fast vehicles for close range fast destruction.
I'm a huge fan of Spectres, but I have to admit they're somehow mediocre machineguns. For less PS you have almost the same damage running Vectors. Also they're huge, and get easily stripped off.

still play?
4 vectors is all you need for any raid. try to stay under 6k ps so you get easier enemies in raids
how about 3 rapiers with 8k build? still acceptable?
I use 1 piercer and 2 vectors and its 3.8k
4 vectors or 3 repeaters both builds right at 4.1k ps with 1500 hp
4 vectors and 3 other guys with 4 vectors* is all you need...
In easy raids, plasma emitters and pulse rifles tear most enemies apart like wet paper
I like your building style. A mix of practical and art-build
