    You need to separate the bubble blocks apart as the game takes one big connected slap's centre and lifts it up a lot at the centre point.

  • @Roy-K
    @Roy-K 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It might be cool to take out the center pallets and replace them with a lighter block; that way you have less weight to keep afloat, and you’ll have a section of floor that breaks up the single texture of the blue pallets

    Kosmo, if you put several slabs of bubble block that are not attachet to each other, the raft will float much better because of the Scrap Mechanic Physics.

    If you hook a chest up to a fuel canister via the connections you can connect the fuel canister to a thruster and when the canister is empty the gas will get taken from the chest

  • @Roy-K

    Also, you could use thrusters for steering; if you place a couple at the corners, you can use a couple weaker thrusters to turn the boat, PLUS you can add in some logic to give you strafing movements as well (which would make moving it around the dock and the shore a lot easier)

    In order to get more powerful suspension steering you need to stiffen the actual suspension pieces.

  • @K0wp3R
    @K0wp3R 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    ehh to make a suspension steering you should weld both extremities of the suspension on bearings it gives you twice the power. you can also (probably) put other suspension glitches but all the glitches welded together in one piece (like multiple suspensions welded to the same bearing in a 4 spokes config rt something) i don't know if anyone will understand my nonsense but it's very efficient. I can make one on the workshop for you to see if you want

    If you dont mind having a steam boat looking thing, 00fant has a video detailing how to make actual working paddles that can move watercraft. I use it myself on a small exploration bote in my Survival world

  • @az8560
    @az8560 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Try to go controller-powered. You can try to use oars or steamer wheels to move the creation. By separating individual paddles with bearings or pistons from the main body part you can make the game calculate them independently and thus enable them to move in water with great drag half of the time and in the air with less drag in the opposite direction. I tried it and it kinda works, not sure how it will work for such a giant creation as yours though. Since the setup is cheap, you only need bubble blocks, bearings and couple of max tier controllers. In best case it will solve your propulsion and steering problems without any glitches. In worst it will just add aesthetics for your creation and add extra stability and buoyancy. That still sounds like a better option than water sprinkler powered or slug powered boat.

    I think it can't steer because the suspensions have things/blocks around them, which keep them from moving to the sides. Try this: you use offroad suspension, so you need a 5 blocks in a line for supporting the steering, then you need 2 bearings, one above each of the end blocks of the supporting line, then on one steering you place a block, then place the suspension on that block facing towards the other bearing, then place the vehicle on a lift and place another block above the other bearing, touching the suspension. The suspension mechanism (2 bearings, 2 blocks, and a suspension) needs one block of air on each side, for each block of the mechanism. You can steer both ends of the suspension, for a somewhat stronger steering force.
    To make the suspension glitch more powerful, you can use two bearings for rotation, and you can stack suspensions together. Staking them parallel is less efficient than staking them in series (suspension, block, suspension, block, etc.), for steering, and for stabilization (suspension stabilizers).

    • @CivilStig
      @CivilStig 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The proper way to make suspension glitch turning is as follows:
      1. Get a bearing
      (1.1) Paint it black
      2. Attach a curved pipe piece to the bearing, the way you want to face the suspension-piece itself.
      3. Attach the suspension (can be both sport and off-road suspension, doesn’t matter that much in the end) to the curved pipe.
      4. Put a block at the end of the suspension.
      5. Build a border of blocks around the contraption you just built (the block at the end of the suspension-piece will move into this border, because totally accurate physics, and will create the glitch turning)
      6. The obvious step; connect the bearing to a driver seat.
      Now your creation turns on a dime!

    • @SapioiT
      @SapioiT 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CivilStig Blocks around it can cause it to phase through those blocks, especially when you hit something. That's why the suspension steering evolved to use two bearings. Place a bearing, place a block (doesn't have to be pipe block), place suspension on one side of the block (just not above the bearing), then one block in front of the suspension place another bearing on the same surface as the initial bearing, then with the creation on a lift place a block on that second bearing or in front of the suspension. Being on the lift will allow that block to be connected to both the bearing and suspension. Now attach one bearing or both bearings to a seat, and you have suspension-steering. For a stabilizer, you just need to start without the initial bearing, while doing all the other steps.

    • @CivilStig
      @CivilStig 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SapioiT Ah, I get it. Still, it might be better to let the boat turn by using 'simple' thruster on a bearing (to a lvl 5 seat so that you can adjust the steering angle to be very large).

    • @SapioiT
      @SapioiT 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CivilStig With the principle of the lever, and the practical experience of having a suspension stabilizer on a part of a vehicle which is more likely to rotate more (i.e. mounting the stabilizer of a bike on a flag pole), I think that using a suspension steering on a long pole will likely work bettter, and I will test whether the suspension needs to be close to the controlled bearing, or away from it. If I don't reply or change my comment in half an hour, please remind me to do so.

    • @SapioiT
      @SapioiT 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CivilStig Alright, so I found something valuable. Adding a lot of blocks to the pole of the suspension doesn't help, but having suspensions in a series seems to help around as much as having them in parallel, or a bit less. Having a seat connection on both sides does, however, increase the strength of the steering. I have made a short video wit it, and I will post it on my channel in a few minutes. By the time you see this comment, it might already be online.

    Kinda wanna make my own now. But not now. I'm too busy doing nothing.
    Edit: You can put the pods underwater and on a steering bearing to turn. Might as well use your fuel if you have it. Also you will probably need to make a fuel pump on the bottom so when you're docked you can make gas from the underwater wells (I don't know if that actually works but it's your only choice for sustainable movement).

    The suspension glitch will work better if they're max level, on max stiffness. May not make much of a difference, but it'll be better

    From what I've seen, a single contigious mass of the same buoyant material will NOT right itself in terms of angle; rather, the entire area of that material provides only a single force vector at its centroid. In order to have a self-righting buoyant platform, you need to separate your buoyancy into quadrants (replace a center "cross" of the crates with a different material so that the entire floor isn't just solid crate) such that each corner gets its own independently calculated up-force depending on its level of submersion.
