  • If you look at Johns career you can see a journey of success. Singer, songwriter, guitar player, and performer, you gotta love John Corabi. In part 2 John gives us his version of what happened to the Motley album of 94 and why it tanked in caparison to "Feel Good" just a few years earlier. John also touches on his relationship with his old band mates in the Crue. For Motley fans, and for those who follow JC, this is a MUST SEE interview. Don' forget to subscribe and stay tuned in to the MRB for updates.

I agree 100%, I was actually going to say what you did. I really appreciate how real and down to earth he is. He is so straight forward and honest. You can't beat him for being a great singer, writer, front man and damned good guitarist himself. He's got a ton of ground covered and offers so much to any project he is involved with. I've been a fan of his since the 1st album with The Scream. I'm a huge fan of his work but have yet to see him in a club environment. I really need to rectify that.

I had somehow missed the Mötley-album with John, but after reading the comments I had to go check it out and wow. Although it's good, I can see why it didn't work out. For one thing, it doesn't sound like Mötley and I'm sure the drama didn't help either. That said, I'm gonna have to go and check out more from John because I'm really digging this sound.
Meanwhile, I agree with what he says about all the drama. It's a big disservice both to the fans and the musicians themselves to air their dirty laundry for all to see. And not just with Mötley but other bands as well. The fans are there for the music, not for the drama - unfortunately, it's easy to get drawn into the latter when the musicians themselves are unable to separate business from private life. If it doesn't work out then be done with it and walk your separate paths, no need to drag your fans into it as well.

I met John at The Astoria in London when The Scream played in Europe and he's a hellava nice guy. After a great gig he came out, hung with the fans who stayed around, signed autographs for anyone & even took the time to chat with us. Totally down to earth, no airs & graces whatsoever. He totally deserves the success and career he's carved out, truly one of Rock's nice guys.

They are good friends. I love the fact John doesn't get into all the drama, he is just himself. Rock on my favorite man, Corabi. Your a legend!!🤟🎼🎶💜💜💜💜. Proud papa of a very talented son💞

John you talk so much sense. You nailed exactly why people split up into camps when motley split. I loved that you spotted the younger kids coming to your gigs....my son is 22 now and literally will go to any gig featuring the older metal bands. He likes modern stuff but nowhere near as much. He is an avid daisies fan because of you.... One gig in newcastle england and that was that!

Oh yeah, I was 15 years old when the album came out. I didnt need another bitter, angry divorce in my life. I didnt want to be coerced or threatened to pick a side. Again. Rock and Roll can go there sometimes, and it's no good to the fans. The Pantera breakup sucked as well. Too bad about Motley 94, the record company's were real fickle and disingenuous in their promotion.

    • @ddguitars1969
      @ddguitars1969 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@S Tra yeah you'd think that wouldnt you, but what actually happened ,was , i played music in the car,and so did my wife in hers. From her he gets bowie, billy joel, dolly parton muse, from me he gets metallica dokken, van halen.for years he begged me to take him to a gig, and when he was ten we went to see michael schenker. Some nice ladies let him stand at the front, and that was that. Imagine being ten and having schenker play the rock bottom solo right in front of you,to you...... He now likes modern metal and rock e.g sabbaton, avenged sevenfold, brothers of metal, halestorm, pretty reckless. Most of those are not to my taste but my point is, there was no coercion involved.it happened through osmosis....that's the problem with the internet.everyone is a judge and jury. Don't read between the lines and make up facts....you weren't there...

Great interview! I saw the 1994 tour at Starwood Amphitheater in Nashville. It was a strange experience. Ticket sales were so bad that they closed the hillside and put everyone under the pavilion. I probably got to see one of the last Motley Crue 1994 shows that year before they canceled the tour. I heard when it was due out and picked it up the day it came out while I was passing through Phili on the way to a three month tour in Saudi in the Air Force. That's the way of the wprld sometimes.

It took me a bit of time to warm up to the ‘94 record. I had it on cassette and just stuck with it. I needed a song that was close enough to the Feelgood sound to keep me interested so, Poison Apples was like my anchor. I listened to the whole cassette repeatedly and it wasn’t long before it became one of my favorites. Not better or worse than Dr. Feelgood or the Vince era, just different. Welcome to the Numb and Smoke the Sky are still my favorites to this day.

I think John is dead on, about the mudslinging from Nikki and the boys toward vince drawing a line in the sand for the fans... for most of them anyway... I always felt like its was a bit childish... PARTICULARLY when they made fun of him being fat after he was almost killed in that jet ski accident. But personally, I love BOTH forms of Motley... I won't lie, The 1994 album is my favorite Motley album... With Shout at the devil a close second, But I think they really got a raw deal on that 94 album. They really did. Between it being peek grunge era, and record labels not wanting to push any of the bands that were still around from the 80s... That album should have been the best selling record of their career... hands down. But it is what it is unfortunately. I sure would give both pinky toes and one of my testicles to see them do ONE tour with Corabi again... and I'd throw in both second toes for another album.

The ‘94 record is sooo good. It was the hardest/loudest record at the time. I was a Motley fan, and even more during that time. They lost me with New Tattoo. That ‘94 record wasn’t successful at the time but it aged exceptionally well.

  • @photobeast

John's exactly right. I was a die-hard crew fan back in the eighties and when benssalah I was pretty fucked-up about it. My favorite band had just broken up grunge was taking over the radio and MTV had turned to shit at this point. It was a sad time for music. And then when they were making anti-venom comment I kind of took a stand on team Vince at that time and went to his concerts and bought his album. To me it sounded more like Motley Crue and I was mad at the record industry in the music business at that point. So I personally never gave John a chance as a singer or musician. Here we are many years later and I think that the Motley Crue album that he did is barnone one of the best written albums and that time frame and one of motley's best musical albums. Don't get me wrong I still love Too Fast for Love & Shout at the Devil. Girlsgirlsgirls was the soundtrack for most of my youth. Honestly I didn't like Dr. Feelgood it was too much bubble gum bulshit.. at that point they had lost their edge with their sound.

I worked in college radio at the time when this album came out. I thought it was really good. But music was well on it's way to moving towards Pearl Jam/Nirvana/Alice in Chains when it was released.
The ground had shifted way too much for it to get a fair shot.
Plus what he said about Mick, Nikki and Tommy taking every single opportunity to slam Vince didn't help matters.

He's 100% right...it left bad taste hearing Motley and VH trashing their lead singers. It sped up demise of that genre of music even faster.

The ' 94 self titled record was the last great Mötlëy record. Picked up a rare vinyl copy years ago! PLAY LOUD!

New Tattoo was a good album IMO. But I agree with you.

Classic album in every sense. But they had the deck stacked against them in 94. By that time, most hard rock/metal fans had moved on to bands like Pantera, White Zombie, Manson, NIN. It was also when Korn came out. I don’t even think it would have been a smash even if Vince was still in the band. Either way, this album crushes. Mick’s riffs are monstrous.

Anybody else wonder what John would sound like in Van Halen?

John you were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Like Gary Cherone with Van Halen. But your album was great

Sadly at least Crue were able to put out a proper well produced album. Eddie really had no business producing that album in the state he was in.

When the album came out, I immediately thought it was a masterpiece. One of the few albums I love from the first note to the last, and I can count them on one hand only.
My drummer (a huge Motley Crue fan) was... Meh...
Paradoxically, I think that if they would have released it that album under a different name, it would have been a success.

Been a fan since I first heard Man in the Moon. Really like his album with Motley, but it was a big departure from the Vince albums, I think even bigger than the difference between Roth and Hagar, and a lot of people still take sides there. Further to what John said, Motley putting Vince down was also like they were sh*tting on themselves, especially after they took him back. Don't like Generation Swine, but New Tattoo had some good songs. They lost momentum with the changes in singers and styles.

That 1994 self-titled motley Crue album is a kick ass album from start to finish it's to the only problem was at the time the music scene was definitely changing and that's what heard it and some and I think the biggest mistake was calling the album motley Crue
