    I’m an Ev fan but I do agree with you it’s all about choice. The funny thing is Skoda was always looked upon a poor man’s Volkswagen. But not anymore. Look at the ID4 in comparison to the Skoda.

    Hello Peter! I was at the launch of the Skoda Octavia….in 1962!!….so not the version you will think of. It seemed wonderful with a vastly better interior than anything the U.K. offered and had a choice of three colours…red, white or blue and all for £606. Sixty years on, this car continues the theme…large, practical, well equipped and a good car for the working family man! I rather like the Eniyac we’re buying! I had news today that might take me to Berlin sometime this year..unplanned but a Road Trip coming up I expect. Stay well Peter…enjoy every day.🙂🙂🙂🙂Richard.

    Well done Skoda, buttons, knobs and storage. I agree with you about the Yeti though. I’d have the hybrid as well and think it’s the perfect option for how I use a car ie lots and lots of local 20-30 mile journeys and occasional road trips to the south of France so I’d say that was the perfect balance .

    Well done on getting this out so quickly! I think you were right the first time on the IV model, there is no BEV version, so that's the PHEV one. For me as a current passat GTE owner I'm disappointed this new generation of phev's are persisting with this compromised drivetrain pushing the electric drive through a dsg box rather than making the 1.5 tsi a range extender to simply recharge battery and a decent size motor actually driving the wheels as the bmw i3 and Vauxhall ampera used to do. I find the dsg gearbox massively compromises the benefits of the electric drivetrain.

    Haha! As soon as I saw that first glimpse coming down between you all with that music, I expected it to demonstrate a new feature, air suspension, going up and down in time to the music like those American modded cars do! I have a 2017 Kodiaq and it’s the best car I’ve owned with a new price tag less than 60,000 at today’s prices. It needs replacing next year, so I’m very interested in this: either bought new or in its effect driving down prices of nearly new examples of the previous version. The Kodiaq does lots of things well. But it does three things exceptionally well. It big inside, the 4x4 versions are excellent in all conditions and even my 2017 version (diesel) is wonderfully frugal (always 45mpg and 55 mpg on the motorway fully loaded). At the price, it’s unique in the market and trounces its brothers and sisters on the same platform.

    Hi this kodiaq is a full 8inches longer than the new tiguan. It has buttons and multi function dials . Love the light bar on the front and the c shape rear lights not to radical from old model that's great . The boot on 5seater is crazy big 910 liters love this car . Really impressed with choice of engines from petrol to mild hybrid then plug in to full eV and really like diesels has great choice to suit all customers and 9 different colors will certainly be ordering one of these beautiful cars absolutely got it totally right. The skoda kodiaq was a beautiful car and new model puts it in next level stunning from front back or side layout inside fantastic. Thank you for video petrol ped

    Peter, you have a great eye for little details on cars, which most of us would just miss, it's one of the reasons I like about your great videos. Now I've seen the rear Wheel Arch shape on this Skoda, which you pointed out, I can't un-see it now, I totally agree with you, it's just looks strange, there is no Symmetry in it's design, the rest of the car looks really great though.👍

    As expected not a huge change when a car is as successful as original, and at this early stage initial thoughts, great to see gear selector removed from centre location to steering column , but infotainment screen dominating central area of dashboard is what l call an intrusion, the Columbus system recessed into dash was brilliant .
    😮Dash mounted switching needs to be increased. Glad door mirrors not been replaced by cameras.
    Surprised by the additional body length.

    I think it comes naturally to you mate but your under pressure presentation skills are so on point, lots of distractions but you just cracked on. Anyway I digress, I like the car, the simply clever stuff in the boot is brilliant but that rear arch gap, just doesn’t look right does it. Spoils the side profile.

    The car looks fine and with a Skoda dealership nearby I must call in and scramble around one, ASAP,
    Look forward to when you get the chance to road test one. I know you reckon the PHEV is the best version but I'm still very much a petrolhead with my Yeti and Tiguan powered that way.

    Morning, about time Skoda replaced the Fabia? The reason for this comment is that the Kodiaq was introduced in 2017, In April 2021, it had a facelift and we are seeing the second generation Kodiaq launch now in October 2023. In comparison the Fabia Mk4 was introduced in 2021 and no new facelifts since then. What you have had is the previous Fabia Combi has become Skoda Scala, plus a more SUV version in the form of Skoda Kushaq, which I think in some form replaces the Yeti, which we don't get here in the UK as it is built in India. The closest we get is the Skoda Kamiq. The issue is though the VW platform that the Kushaq and Kamiq are based on, do not allow for four wheel drive cars, it only allows for front wheel drive vehicles.

    The wheel arch does look a little odd but maybe is to do with loading of the vehicle, 7 people and luggage will cause the back end to move down.
    The majority wont notice it and those that do will forget about it pretty quickly

    Bought my Kodiaq in 2020. That year saw several updates which included replacing the rear badge with SKODA lettering so not sure what you mean by this is the first car with SKODA on the bootlid?
    Anyway I'm very unlikely to buy another Kodiaq. I can't fault the car I own but can see many faults in the Mk2 version. Neither do I think it's an attractive car - it's all a bit too imposing for my taste. Not sure why they made an already big car bigger? I've never ever wanted for more space. It already has tonnes of legroom - who are they aiming the new car at, 7 footers?
    And then there's the price. My car was a shade under £40k, therefore paying standard VED. Luckily I managed to secure a very good discount on list. However I suspect it's replacement will be the high 40's which will defo attract an extra VED supplement. When you get in to that territory then I don't mind being labelled a badge snob. I reckon depreciation may well be the 2024 Kodiaq's biggest problem here in the UK.
    And lets not forget, VW have not faired well with their latest infotainment systems. They're very, buggy.
    I'm on my 3rd Skoda. I reckon they easily make better cars than SEAT, these days easily beat VW ( have done since around 2018 ) and perhaps a wee bit controvertial, I think they're better than some of the current Audis. ( I've owned all three marks ).
    I think Skoda is loosing it's mojo with this car tho.

  • @stever5648
    @stever5648 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Surely the white car was a plug in hybrid as it had two filler caps, front left and rear right rather than being a full ev? Or did I misunderstand the clarification bit?
    Still a shame to see a manufacturer force full ev into legacy platforms, any new ev these days should be on its own platform rather than shoehorned as an after thought.

    • @martino9143
      @martino9143 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, this the plug in hybrid. Why would they produce a full electric version when the Enyaq fulfills that role.

  • @flatsixer70
    @flatsixer70 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    ...I like the Kodiaq in general but I like the previous version more than the new version...it's more raw and looks a little bit more like a "smaller" Range Rover. We have the first version of the Kodiaq RS with the bi-turbo Diesel engine, 240 BHP and 500 Nm of torque. By now a very rare car because it was only built for one and a half year. This car is awesome for all family and off time activities. Don't want to have the new one... 🤷

    Really interesting new slim C pillar design almost a touch of Range Rover, it both makes the car look sleeker and reverses the trend to poor rear three quarter visibility and lack of light for rear passengers, shame the mild hybrid is not a full hybrid. Hope the carry over the same new styling to the Karoq.

It’s a bit of a mishmash of other cars.. a Thor hammer coming in at the front, lots of over sized lights like Kia and Hyundai, and the back is almost old Citroen Picasso lights updated 😂. And the the silver flash on the rear pillar is audi Q2. I like the engine range and maybe the right colour will change how it looks.

    Interesting! However I'm not inspired by the front end - it looks like the ugly Suzuki that came out a few years ago. The Plug in range however could be a game changer. Whilst I have the Cupra Formentor now my previous car was a cousin of this, the SEAT Ateca, smaller but better looking. The Kodiaq has been very popular here in the UK for good reason and this new model will also, I think, be a success. I'll put it on my "watch" list when the Cupra reaches retirement.
