*Workin Boys* was more chaotic than I expected (Team Starkid Reaction)

- Today we're taking a look at the short film Workin Boys by Team Starkid. Based on their characers from other shows, Workin Boys is about Professor Hidgens as he desperately tries to get his original musical, "Working Boys", ready for it's first performance. It's a film about characters from a musical, preparing for a musical.

I think it was mentioned that Linda (the blonde lady played by Lauren, a character featured in Black Friday) was one of the only people who auditioned and didn't get cast, which makes her going "Good" to the actresses being dead and half-heartedly clapping at the end even funnier

I think I should let it be known that in the firat episode of the hatchetfield spinoff "nightmare time" Hidgens kills two people to try and get enough money for Workin' Boys. This is 100% in character
Also has some stuff happen in honey queen to get the funding
By the way, the actor who played the Stage Manager, Paul Gabriel, is Starkid's actual stage manager.

I know what you mean, but keep in mind that he DID kidnap Emma and Ted with the explicit purpose of offering them, and himself, up to the musical zombies in TGWDLM. Seems pretty dangerous to me.
If you also haven't seen Nightmare Time yet, the very first episode goes into just HOW FAR Hidgens will go to get his musical funded, lol (the first episode specifically has some pretty bad audio issues, but if you're a Hidgens fan, I do recommend). I love Hidgens, but he is far from non-threatening.
Black Friday and the nightmare time series go more in depth into the lore of hatchetfield, and the lords in black that show up in nerdy prudes must die.
Jeff Blimm has done the music and lyrics for all of the Hatchetfield Trilogy (Nerdy Prudes, The Guy who Didn't Like Musicals, and Black Friday), as well as writing the songs and script for Trail to Oregon.
Before then they've had many people composing, but Nick and Matt Lang are usually the ones doing the book.
You should react to Black Friday if you haven’t seen it!!! It’s the second installation between TGWDLM and Nerdy Prudes! Definitely underrated in my opinion and gives alot of context especially for Nerdy Prudes.

Yeah it was sad to see she skipped it. Since that means she missed it in this and she can't really come back and do a rewatch. Or at least... it probably wouldn't do well. Rewatches rarely do.
You reading the actor bio's in the playbill makes me wanna dig to see if I can find a good, non-blurry copy of them to read. Cassie's in particular. Definitely sounded like it might be a Lords of Black kind of thing.
When rewatching you might notice that the ghosts of the boys never blink when they're on the screen. I think it really ads to the uncomfortable creepiness. Also I would totally watch your reaction to the whole hatchetfield series if you haven't seen and the rest of the starkid. My favourite is "starship". Im so excited for the come back of the puppets.

(This was SO cool, 1. Jeff actually ate as hidgens (coming from a recovering robert stan) and it was so so cool to see some characters I'd never thought interact, in he same room as each other!)
For their other stuff, I'd 100% recommend Twsited. It's known as their best musical for the most part.
I think Twisted, Starship, and Trail to Oregon are all must-watches. Maybe Firebringer.

if you watch nightmare time episodes, you'll see Hidgens is very much capable of killing people.
I thought the same way too when I just finished watching tgwdlm, but Hidgens is very unhinged most of the time
In tgwdlm, we saw Hidgens shoot Charlotte (well, a Charlotte-ton), drug and capture Emma and Ted, and then do his best to surrender the world to an alien virus. Nightmare Time features a few more of his murders. So yeah, he's more unhinged than your typical quirky theater fan...
You should definitely check out Black Friday, the second musical in the Hatchetfield series if you haven't! Some of the references and characters from this are from that show😅 And many people would like it if you watched other Starkid shows you haven't seen.
Also, did you notice that Henrietta Hidgens was Zoey, one of the baristas from TGWDLM
Defiantly watch Black Friday! also, if you haven't seen it, you should watch 'Nightmare Time' after. During covid, Team Starkid couldn't do live musicals, so they got creative and created a bunch of stories set in Hatchetfield in Zoom calls! The series really expands on the Hatchetfield universe in ways you would never think! It starts off slow for the first few episodes (with a bit of technical difficulties as well), but it starts to pick up pretty quickly and the production quality gets better, so don't be discouraged at first. It expands on a lot of established characters, and features a ton of great songs! Whether you react to it on the channel or not, I hope you enjoy it!
The original actor for Hidgens, Robert, was fired and recast due to sexually harassing another member of Team Starkid.

Big exaggeration happening here ! as far I'm aware it was a misunderstanding that was resolved privately, and he was advised to leave the company
@@GhostPal.He made an apology on twitter and starkid made a statement when they fired him.
as far as i remember he said he didnt realize his advances were not being reprocicated at the time, he did very much overstep and he fucked up, but as soon as the person made him aware, he apologized and backed off. it seems to me that the whole thing got blown out of proportion by the fandom.. but granted, we'll never know exactly what happened.

That was so fun. Thank you. Hey, you know my opinion. I think it would be fun to see you react to more StarKid shows. Not only the Hatchetfield shows, but any of them. You can see how the performers progressed over the years. Anyway, if you decide to watch and react, I will most definitely be along for the ride.

I really enjoyed your perceptive reaction! If you like them, please consider reacting to more Starkid. I think Starkid has about 13 original musicals on TH-cam. The ones before the Hatchetfield series are generally lighter and more satirical. My favorites in descending order are: _Black Friday, Twisted, Firebringer, Starship, Trail to Oregon, & Holy Musical B@man_ . You might also consider _Spies are Forever_ , a musical satire of James Bond movies, by Tin Can Bros, a production company formed by Starkid alumni that includes many Starkid actors.

Also, I'm joining others in saying that if you enjoy the Hatchetfield universe, you have to check out Black Friday and Nightmare Time. Those give a lot of insights on this universe.

i’m always an absolute sucker for more starkid reactions!!! ❤❤❤ as others have said black friday would be a great place to start since it’s the other full musical in the hatchetfield saga. and you’ll get to see more of the character lauren lopez was playing in the audience here :) there’s also the nightmare time series for more hatchetfield lore and stories (nightmare time isn’t a short film or a stage show, it’s stories mostly told over zoom and later a zoom-like format, made during lockdown)
but literally any starkid musical would be wonderful tbh they’re all well worth watching just pick what speaks to you really! but i would love love love to see more :)
Just putting in my vote for a Twisted reaction. This was top notch reacting, and i cant wait to see your thoughts on my favorite of the StarKid shows. The deeper your knowlege of Aladdin, and Disney in general, the better...but i think everyone can find something to love in StarKid's Twisted!

Hi, found you through this and will gladly watch more Starkid reactions! If it's something you think your audience would like, I think even re-watching the other Hatchetfield shows could be fun.
If you haven't seen Firebringer or Twisted, they are great.
When it comes to the whole Hatchetfield saga, try to watch them in order included the Nightmare Time stuff (online performances that began during lockdown that started a little shaky but quickly got really good). The Hatchetfield productions aren't *really* necessary to watch in order, but there are so many little references to previous ones that may be lost on you otherwise. Some characters are more explained and explored when introduced, and then we are supposed to know them when they show up in a later one.

Id for sure reccomend watching the hatchetfeild series because there are references/ kinda call backs to the seriesand probably watch it order if you can i think it should be the guy who didnt like musicals then black friday and nerdy prudes must die ?? i may be wronf about the order but its a fun series lol
