Might be tricky on the Buffalo River, but I don't go anywhere without my dogs & have been thinking about outriggers for awhile. Hollow with snap on covers so we can pack the light equipment in the outriggers. Looks like I'll have to design & build my own.
I would design ADJUSTABLE risers, so you could have one setting during travel, for less drag in the water, and another setting while stationary for more stability.
Yes, it would be longer than the yak, but the wave piercing bows are designed to lead the center hull. It would give you a massive amount of space and extra flotation for hauling gear of a sail.
I am trying to set up a couple kayaks with long outriggers. (Son fell over when it was 35 degrees in October in Minneapolis.) Are there places in Iowa that sell both? And since we are seniors, for us we need that high seat. Maybe a canoe would be better, how did you add that high seat? Leakage problems? We do have a truck so weight wise, kayak would be better bc we do not want a trailer. You know, what you made is terrific. I’ve looked at a lot of TH-cams, your is the best! Thank you. You bet, I've put these kits on so many types and sizes of canoes, kayaks and other boats, I can't list them all. There are several connector kits for various craft, and in some cases, you simply strap the crosstubes onto the canoe or kayak. Seriously, I don't know of a canoe that I couldn't fit.
very nice set up, exactly what I was thinking of for me and my dogs. how much please for the bracket and pontoons, everything I see there excluding the canoe. Thank you for your time. Terry
This video is many years old, I don't remember how that little motor was attached, but these days, I have motor mounts for different craft which work very well.
This is a very old video, I have tested so many different motors, but it all comes back to a simple electric around 40 or 60 lb of thrust as the most efficient and cost effective. Ain't fast, but goes and goes and goes.....
really thinking about purchasing this for the vacation at Cape san blas scolloping in the bay it's really shallow and you wouldn't have to worry about tide.
Great video, would really like to add that to my Christmas wish, about the pontoons do they have to be that long or can you make them shorter? I run on the Great Pee Dee River in Rockingham N.C. also could I get it without the nets, would replace with plywood and carpet it. Would use for camping weeks at a time.
+Sonny Aycoth Yes, you can buy the pontoons in sections, each section is 4 feet long, so u can buy 1 center and 2 bow sections or more center pieces to make it longer. each section is 100$ i think, its on their website. And thats what i was wondering too about the nets, i wanted to get it without those nets( cause they look really weak) and buy super strong cargo netting to hold my camping supplies.
J. Wesley Stevenson what I mean is rather than addind outfitters to try to make a canoe bigger, why not just graduate to a bigger boat: a boat with a bigger hull and more space?
HELLO from Canada the land of bugs, snow and ice......sigh I have a 17 foot old town canoe that does not have a square stern .....I have a 50 pound thrust and sail kit I have used . Now I am retiring to Vancouver island in 2018-2019. I want to buy a 2.5 Yamaha or a 4 hp still researching someone who has 20 years at that. Do you have these pontoons up here in Canada or do I have to run to Florida in the winters as I will be in the US in winters if America still accepts Canadians and Mexican in ?????
We have had several swinging centerboards which have performed very well in the past. Very simple to retrofit and better than dagger-boards because they swing up when beaching.
@@Expandacraftboats thanks, my father has wanted a fast cruising, day sailer for a while now, but little place to store it at our rental property. Looks like with some of the old windsurfing rigs I’ve got and this, I can rig up a sailing canoe that renters can use as a canoe when we’re not around.
Expandacraft will be at the Gulfport FL Nautical Flea Market on Saturday, March 16 2019 so come by and say Hi! facebook.com/mygulfport/photos/a.178079139210331/848567418828163/?type=3&theater. You can get the netting material at multihullnets.com. Expandacraft doesn't resell the netting.
We did sail this on and it did fine in light to modest wind. I wouldn't take it out the the big waves as it is not self bailing. One like that is in the works.
Yes you can have one with 12 ft outriggers and this one sails nicely too. Basically you can build whatever you can dream up.
Looks like your line has expanded nicely Wes! Keep up the good work and hope you become a millionaire!
Nice, I seen a similar set up with 400 watts solar panels to power the troll motor.

Thinking that same thing, I have a 19 foot Grumman square stern canoe and a 7 hp Chrysler outboard.
I would design ADJUSTABLE risers, so you could have one setting during travel, for less drag in the water, and another setting while stationary for more stability.
Brilliant.!
Will this work on a 14 foot tandem kayak

Where do you get the 16' out rigger canoe? Thanks

Will you're outrigger kits work on a 14foot narrow Jon boat

Hello. Best is to padell or sail in no shark waters. Thanks for the moovie!
I love sharks!

This set up starts at $2000 but you could order it custom or do part of it yourself. Some clients prefer hard decks over netting.
Do you have the motor just clamped directly to the side of the canoe?
This video is many years old, I don't remember how that little motor was attached, but these days, I have motor mounts for different craft which work very well.
I just bought one I am so excited
Nice I like that and the electric motor

Yep, the draft is about 3 or 4 inches.
that net is tougher than you may think. Can't tear it with pliers do you dog isn't a problem
where does one get the net and what do you call it?
@@JoeRetro101 multihullnets.com
how much would this rig cost me if i already have the canoe. with the netting and everything.
any discount... seems awesome but really expensive...
That sure is nice!!! sure wish it was portageable for fresh flatwater. That is a really nice idea my man!!!!
It only takes 5 minutes to break it all down and you could put it all in the canoe and use wheels under it.
Bonjours,
Ou je peux avoir comme ces stabilisateurs.
Merci
can u put these on a 14 ft aluminum boat
Yes, we have done that on a few Jon boats

+Sonny Aycoth and I'm guessing u want to use this idea for canoe camping on the river? i love being out there on a canoe for a few nights :)
Well, it's Christmas time again, ready to order?
Absolutely
Give me a call and lets get you set up, 813-810-2554

J. Wesley Stevenson ok thank you for replay
pretty neat set up. Do you ever think you might be better off with a bigger boat?
Bigger isn't always better but I'd build one if a client wants it.

We did build a 21 X 8 tri hull which had plenty of space. It's on youtube too.
I always take my 65# dog with me on my canoe will the net hold up and net tear with his claws?
That is the toughest webbing you can find, you'd need a knife to cut it.
This is an awesome setup just need more powah
What do you do about a keel/daggerboard?
We have had several swinging centerboards which have performed very well in the past. Very simple to retrofit and better than dagger-boards because they swing up when beaching.
Ha, you guys beat me to it! I had the idea to make this a few years ago. Good on yah! How much does one of these cost?
The hull parts are $129.00 each and the aluminum crosstubes are about $80 or so depending on size.

Dude - put two solar panels on that and you can drive around with no pit stops required - you can sit on them in the blazing sun - they don’t get hot
from 2013?? How did I not see this video before.
Boat not registered, the marine patrol would have a field day with you, very cool design though.
in my state you only need to be registered if your boat is over 16' or is engine powered. electric power is exempt.
u sell that white netting in kit aswell?
Dude I live in Minnesota Land of 10,000 canoes. I want one.
I cant find the kit anywhere :(
This is a one of a kind so we don't offer a kit. We can build another if you want to order one just the way you want it.
AWESOME....i looove living in tampa bay.
Something tells me you have been to the Philippines. Might try using a square end canoe and slap a motor on it.... Americans want speed.
really nice Boat!
How about with a Sail?
We did sail this on and it did fine in light to modest wind. I wouldn't take it out the the big waves as it is not self bailing. One like that is in the works.
GENIUS ! =D
I could sleep on these
Good for fishing I say…
@0.35 its flat just like the Earth!
luv it lol
That's no longer a kayak or canoe!
You are correct, it is so much more now.
I wanna take it in the ocean
With a gas engine
Wouldn't need more than a 2 hp
один поплавок лишний
6 to 8 people on that??? NO Thank You!!! haha
Not that you would want to, but it's nice to know that you could if you had to.
