I am an ace and interested in all sorts of East Asian stuff, so I will put these on the list. If I read a book every day from my TBR, I might just manage to get to these before I meet my grave.
Oh, you had me with pirates in the video title. But NO ROMANCE? As an aroace, i need to read this IMMEDIATELY. I want a good platonic relationship so bad
Well, my dude, i'm sold. It just sounds fantastic and I adore the idea of a non romantic relationship between the two protagonists, the unexplored time period, and, of course, the quality writing. In my tbr already.
Such an amazing review! And it doesn't surprise me because I'm reading Origin Curse right now, and Sarah Kate Ishii's writing is truly breathtaking. I'd say her storytelling stands alongside legends like Robin Hobb and Brandon Sanderson, two of my favorites. The way she weaves the tale in Dynasty Codes feels like watching those beautiful Asian films, where each scene is like a living painting, steeped in mythology and full of wonder. The story flows so naturally that I lose myself, no longer in my room but in a whole new world, eager to explore more. What I love too is how she brings in traditional Japanese culture-it adds so much depth to the experience.
Absolutely LOVE your shirt! No romance!? Sign me UP. Side note: You have Alcatraz vs the Evil Librian books! I don't know anyone besides myself who owns them! You read them, right?!
@avsambart thank you! Haha um actually the shirt is official book guy merch and is available for purchase via the shop. 😇 Yes I LOVE the Alcatraz books! I'm hoping sometime soon to do a month of middle grade books and finally chat about them.
I went to her website to try and order both books. It redirected me to Amazon. I much prefer physical books. Unfortunately, paperback copies on Amazon are over $50.00 each. I would like to support this author. If there is an alternative method to purchase physical copies at a reasonable price, please let me know.
Unfortunately this is common for many Indie authors who need to use 'Print On Demand' services. The price per copy can be high. I would recommend eBooks if that isn't feasible. Or follow the author and wait for an update on sales.
The author wrote in her blog recently addressing this. That pricing on Amazon is not what she has priced them at. At the time of writing this, the price is back to normal on Amazon, but earlier today I saw them still listed at over $50. I ordered them from Barnes and Noble at around $23 each and can't wait to get them!
Hi. Thank you so much for the recommendation. I'd like to recommend a book not very popular and not even reviewed here on Booktube: "The sand sea" by Michael McClellan. I think it may be right up your alley. Best regards. 😊
So many booktubers only focus on the big authors and repeat the content, it’s so refreshing to find someone who spotlights indie authors
Im sold im a huge history buff and i love the idea of no romance between main characters
Another for the TBR, thanks!!! 💖😊💖

I love that you highlight more than the "big" series everyone else reads. I like finding hidden gems!
Added to my TBR!

I need this in my life!!!
Thank you! I did not know about these books at all!
I hate you Mike, you keep on expanding my tbr with great recs! But most excited for the Immortal Investigations not gonna lie.
You had me in the first half, not gonna lie. 🤣🤣🤣
The first law is one of my favourite and just finish sword of kaigen recently will definitely give this a go
Excited to hear about this one!
It's on my list now
Haha everything about this sounds awesome. I bought the first book for my ereader. Will take some time to get to it though.
Can you review the book infinity gate and the other books in that series. I LOVE the way you cover books 🎉
Absolutely LOVE your shirt!

More like this please. Thanks for the fish! Free with Kobo Plus FYI
Bought it! But I'm not a big fan of magic "systems" so hopefully it isn't too prevelant/dominant (looking at you Mistborn).

I just looked it up, and Sand Sea looks fantastic! I've added it to my TBR. Thank you!!! Good recommendation.
@@cronkthebookguy You're totally welcome. Happy reading. I hope you enjoy it. Thank you for answering my comment. 🤩😉
I'd love to try this series, but it doesn't seem available on Amazon for me
They're available again now on Amazon. I ordered them from Barnes and Noble earlier today, when they were still showing as unavailable on Amazon
Could you do The Last Horizon by Will Wight?
