There is another parallel that reinforces the "son of Joseph" typology. In the Old Testament, Joseph is warned in his dreams, and his dream interpretation helped save the lives, leading the family of Jacob to flee to Egypt. In the Gospel of Matthew, Joseph (the husband of Mary) is warned in his dreams, and this ends up saving the lives of Mary and Jesus, causing them to flee to Egypt. I don't think this is mere coincidence. This seems to me to further reinforce the typology of Jesus being the "son of Joseph".

Since this is not relevant to salvation by pondering the notion of Jesus being suggested as Messiah bin Joseph - another corelation could be as Jesus said forgive them for they know not what they do- ties into Joseph forgiveness for his brothers - I see the similarities in Joseph and Jesus but I choose to bring it back to God's Spirit singling out the faithful which makes one family over direct bloodlines..in other words I prefer the spiritual connection over the physical -(1 John 2:6) that is what The Holy Spirit can accomplish by making connection inside the chosen people and outside ( Gentile) this I think is the Dr.'s point

I have bought both Mitchell’s book about Messiah Ben Josef and Jesus the Incarnation of the Word and read them over and over. What joy they have given me. I have bought them for pastors. Buy them, read them. The Lord is really magnified in the books. And like the facets of a beautiful diamond the light of the Lord shines through this neglected teaching. I thank the Lord for this man’s work. ❤❤😊

What a fascinating series! As I watched this and they were discussing for Jesus to be both descended from David and Joseph, it would come through his mother Mary, I thought back to Genesis 3:15, when God is expelling Adam and Eve from the garden. Here, God says that there would be "enmity between his seed and hers." Women do not have seed, only men do. But in this unique moment, God makes this extraordinary statement, I believe it is foreshadowing Jesus' birth and lineage through a woman. I am not aware of any other time when anyone made such a statement. I am once again deeply moved to see the extraordinary detail of God's divine plan of redemption to restore all that was lost when sin entered the world. The story of Jesus, son of Joseph, may not be for us Gentiles, but for those of the divided kingdoms of Judah and Israel. Learning this as a Gentile only increases my awe and praise!

It makes sense to me that Jesus assumed the role of Messiah son of Joseph in his 1st coming, and the New Testament looks for Him to assume the Messiah son of David at His 2nd coming, at the end of the Tribulation.
The topic of Jesus containing all the different DNA is VERY fascinating! It brings to mind the passage in Ezekiel 37:17, where we read of the 2 sticks becoming 1. Could this be a dual prophecy? Can it be fulfilled by Jesus and the reunification of the whole house of Israel?

We have been going through Joseph's story in our study of Genesis. As we talked about similarities between Joseph's life and Jesus', I mentioned that in Joseph's case, his brothers recognized him afar off and plotted to kill him. One of the other ladies brought up this same parable you mention from Jesus, and again the wicked tenants recognized him as the son from afar off. It has changed my perspective on whether or not the rabbis and pharisees in Jesus' day just missed it or whether they knew He was Lord, but they would rather remain as lord themselves rather than bow to Him. They liked having the worship of people. They, unlike John the Immerser, were not willing to become decrease.

You may have miss the point, as the emphasis in this video about Joseph. He is the son of David, but he refers himself as Son of Man. The point in the video is that Jesus does not refer to himself in the Gospels as son of David …so that the Ephraim Expectation for the messiah of Joseph , they could see Jesus as fulfilment . And as for your passage you cited....read many many times...did he call himself son of David? And furthermore, he is the son of David but is he the Son of David? Did you not get that "vibe " ... Jesus is saying "Really , I am the son of David?"Think really carefully about the passage! Which anyway you have kind of pointed out anyway

@@celsacamporedondo9573 you will not be suited to talk to the Jews. You don’t understand what the people above are talking about. One for Israel primary mission are for the Jews. Thus the messianic prophecies include the understanding of son of Joseph. If you study the verses, you will see it yourself. I myself have seen something about the blessings for Joseph before but I don’t understand it all, my understanding is quite simple …and the foreshadows for Joseph as the type of Jesus in the first coming is very strong, and not as David like King. They were all shouting Hosanna, son of David but he did not meet their expectations. Read the scriptures as they have cited and check it out for yourself. He is saying the rabbis have done it for thousands of years ago and made the case for son of Joseph as the messiah ( one of). Do a Google search and read the Jewish websites. So if you want to evangelise to them …. You work through the Scriptures like what The Bereans did as recorded in Acts. You search the scriptures.

Beautifully mapped out! YesAnyone who identified Christ as the Promised One in many of the Biblical Varied ways to Him, Christ always held that it was His Father in heaven whom gave the inspiration. 🎉
It always came from The Holy Spirit!! As God Was Walking Upon His Earth With His Creation from every Tongue and Tribe!

This is the 1st I've heard of Messiah ben Joseph, amazing and fantastic. As a new teaching I proceed with caution. But today, reading Zechariah 12 -14 in David Stern's Complete Jewish Study Bible pg 887 the Messianic Prophecy, The Return of Messiah, in the last paragraph the commentary speaks of two Messiahs, one who would reign on David's throne and one who would suffer and die. The suffering Messiah was called Son of Yosef after Biblical Yosef who suffered even though he was innocent. With this I am more settled, I now have a second witness of this new teaching and extend many thanks to One for Israel for bringing us ever closer to knowing our Messiah. Thank you and Shalom.

Be cautious here though , Jesus told the Samaritan woman that salvation is of the Jews . Jesus was the Lion of Judah , not an Ephraimite. Paul also refers to Jesus as a priest according to the order of melchizzidech in which Jesus is not of an earthly priesthood

John also refers to Jesus in Zechariah 11:11 “…..And the poor of the flock that *kept MY WORD* knew this, that it was
    *THE WORD of the Lord”*
    John 10:27 My sheep
*listen to MY VOICE* ; I know them, and *they follow*

This is the way I see it:
1- "Jeshua the Son of Joseph" means the way locals recognize him, as they refer to his father Joseph here on Earth.
2- Jeshua the Son of David" represents the root of his lineage according to the prophecy.
3- "Jeshua the Son of God" represents his truest and heavenly identity.

How wonderful! Our Messiah is Son of God by the power of the Holy Spirit, and through his mother's lineage; Son of Aaron, (priest) and Joseph and David (King). God knows the end from the beginning and tell us, if we dig for the hidden treasure in His Word. Thanks to you all; 3 "wise men" 😊😊 From the ends of the earth I will Praise Him

We're studying John's gospel in BSF this year, and this is really great (and we studied the divided kingdom last year), although if John was writing to Galilean Jews, how could he have been doing so from so far away in Greece, as he spent much of his later life in Ephesus and then on Patmos? Also (an edit from earlier), God said the "woman's seed" would crush the serpent's head!

Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away; but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory; the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory; but just as it is written, “THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD, AND which HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN, ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM.”

This presentation is an absolute game changer. It ties the Northern Kingdom to the Southern Kingdom. It ties types of Messiahs and DNA Messiahs into one Jesus! He really is the Savior of all! All the scriptures of Ephraim and Judah make sense to me. The stick of Joseph and the stick of Judah being one in thy hand is Jesus! Ephraim is to gather in the latter days. Christ told his Apostles in Galilee, Go ye into all the world and preach my Gospel. Christ's apostle must have been mostly Ephraimites to be able to go into all the world? Wow. The dots are connecting!

I was aware of the idea of a Messiah son of Joseph for many decades, but it never occurred to me that some of the references to "son of Joseph" in the gospels would be talking about "the Messiah son of Joseph" instead of merely saying "Jesus was the step-son of the husband of Mary, who everyone knows is named Joseph". I also had not really realized that in the day of Jesus's ministry, the Galileans were not just "descendants of Judah who happened to live in Galilee", but were mostly made up of descendants of the northern tribes. I probably would have realized that if I had thought about it for awhile, but it had not occurred to me.

A small point: One would not refer to Jesus as the "stepson" of Joseph. Stepson would require Mary to have borne Jesus from a prior marriage, then to be married again to Joseph.
Jesus would have been legally Joseph's son.

This study is amazing. I think this could be explored as well, since number three is so intrinsic in the Scriptures. "A cord of three strands is not quickly broken” (Ecclesiastes 4:12). He is the Messiah the Seed of the woman (Genesis 3:15) all descendants of Eve, therefore the whole human race. He is the Messiah Son of Joseph (John 4) as presented in this study; He is the Messiah Son of David (Revelation 22:16).
