- On December 3, 2019, Season 19 of The Simpsons was released on DVD! It was the same year that Disney bought 20th Century Fox.
Season 19 could be the final DVD release of The Simpsons due to Disney now owning the rights to the show.
Also, Disney had been quietly been putting the DVD and Blu-Ray releases of the show out of print. As a result, some releases are now expensive to get online.
For this video, I am going to talk about the history of the DVD and Blu-Ray releases of The Simpsons and talk about the mistakes 20th Century Fox made with those releases!
I will also be talking about why new DVD's and Blu-Ray's of the show will have a hard time being released by Disney!
Finally, I will also explain why you may want to get the releases that came out between 2001 and 2019 sooner then later if you are a Simpsons fan!
As a extra bonus, I have included all the release dates for the DVD releases that are not season sets at the end of this video. This video was mostly about the season sets and not the ones that were one-disc releases even though I did talk a little about them near the end of the video.

It’s a shame that we may never get anymore Simpsons dvd releases
I wish olive films or shout factory would gather the rights for more Simpsons season sets
If Disney has any input, they'll all be censored.
They should make blu-ray 3d and 4k blu-rays of this
I remember they said they were going to rerelease the 20th season with way better bonus features than the first release, such as commentary on all the episodes, though this was years ago before they up and quit releasing them after Season 17 for a time. Hopefully they will continue releasing the show on physical media and with Season 20 being the first season to be in HD, they could release the show on Blu-Ray so the picture and sound quality would be even better. I hope they don’t just leave it as the first 20 seasons. I mean, it would be great if they had a Complete Series release whenever the show ends.
I don’t think we’re gonna get seasons 21- onward on dvd since they have a bad history of dvd releases I think seasons 21 onward are gonna be Disney+ exclusives
I would love a 4K blue ray simpsons set but that would never happen
And not only are there going to be no more, but they retired the WHOLE RANGE meaning you can't even get the ones you're missing. I couldn't even get 18 and 19 because of how expensive they are, meaning my Simpsons DVD range is doomed to be incomplete.

Excellent video! I have The Simpsons Seasons 1-12, 18, and 19 on DVD and Seasons 13-17 and 20 on Blu-ray, so I should be all set! (As I don’t think that I’m loosing anything by having Seasons 13-17 on Blu-ray and not DVD.)
I really do wish that they would release more seasons of The Simpsons on physical media as well as finish The Disney Afternoon shows that as you mentioned they never completed. But I also would sadly have to agree that it seems unlikely.
Also are you aware that Disney also released their 1957 TV show Zorro Complete on DVD? Both seasons were released during the very sadly final wave of the Walt Disney Treasures, another series that I really wish Disney would continue on physical media in addition to The Simpsons and Disney Afternoon sets.
Actually season 19 was the first season giving to us by Disney season 18 was the last season giving to us by Fox remember Fox announced before that after season 17 we wouldn’t be getting anymore DVDs and blu rays as they wanted the Simpsons to be streaming instead then two years later they gave us season 18 on dvd because they finally understood that Simpsons world failed big time and during when season 18 was being released on dvd it was announced that Disney was buying Fox out so I think the only reason why they brought back the DVDs was because with Disney who has no interest in DVDs at all and with them also realizing that no one would support the Simpsons world that’s why they gave us season 18 on dvd
Great Video I used to own all of The Simpsons from Seasons 1 - 12 on DVD with The Movie and the Theme DVDs. But My Mom has sold them and Now I have Seasons 1 - 3 Reprints and The Movie. I watch The Simpsons now on Disney+.
