As long as your phone has the lightning connector, you can use either cable on the ports in the center console
The info on the iPhone cable is incorrect. You can use USB-A or USB-C with any iPhone. Just because your phone came with one or the other, it is not restricted to using that cable type.

Informative video, however I was able to connect my old iPhone 6S to Carplay using the rear console plug and a basic charger with no issue.

I accidentally hit charge only or media not sure but my Apple carplay is not showing up again to connect. In what setting do I change this to reconnect my my phone to the Apple carplay system?

I had thought the 2020 models were getting wireless CarPlay. Is that not the case, or is it coming in a future update?

I would love wireless CarPlay but I havent heard anything of it but if so Im assuming it will be in a over the air software update. But thats just me.
I agree with another few comments this is strange. I have the 11 Pro Plus and its a normal lightening connecting that charges using the normal lightening cable and also as you just shown from USB C - Lightening whichever. I am very confused about why it has to be plugged into a USB C connector. Hmm...stupid strange.
The CarPlay interface is very nice and I really enjoy using it and will not purchase a car that is Android only because its that good 😃👍
Ive never been able to really sit down with Android auto since have haven't owned one in years but I heard its a bit of a pain to setup vs being plug and play. Im as confused as you are with the cabe. I even tried the usb port on my car and it did not work as well. Not sure if its a setting in the phone or what.
Rons Rides Yes it is weird. I have quite a collection of cars and as a Maz owner its just straight forward and normal. Probably my most normal everyday car I own that has has CarPlay and also works as normal with the Apple lightening cable is my Kia Sportage GTS Line latest model, works as expected. I just cant wrap my head around this with Alpha...:(

They are very comfortable and also very aggressively bolstered for fast driving
They are comfy, please try the sport seats and the seats in the lusso. The interior quality is good but you''ll enjoy high end packages like the lusso package and sport packages.
You’re wrong I have a iPhone 12 and can charge and transfer data’s with a normal USB plug.
You should be able to use either plug for either phone. I have a Google Pixel that has been charging with USB-C for 4 years and it works with Android Auto for either cable. The cable shouldn't matter just so you're aware. It's possible you had a faulty USB cable or that that USB-C plug is the only place that Apple Carplay/Android Auto works for any device for this vehicle.

Jesse if thats the case im going to have to contact you because my KIA Stinger doesnt connect on CarPlay with the usb 2.0 as where my iphone 8 worked just fine on it. So i'll double check the Alfa's but I know for sure it doesnt work on my car.

Now that there are over the air updates as a software gets updated they will probably make it more responsive. What you likely see there is a system that steals capturing telemetry and usage metricsso that they can determine where they need to improve the responsiveness and functionality. That's straightforward software product development.
Thank you Jordy and thats my biggest gripe with it but I hope over the air updates will fix the lagging in due time.
I believe the 11 still comes with the 5w charger.

Didn't realize the 11pro had a different charger cable but you're right, they get the usb 2.0
Now that is strange. Any usb 2.0 port should charge it.
