Very thorough thanks Ron for sharing with us...lots of improvements but more work to be done to ensure from a tech perspective customers feel like they are getting value for money for the price of these cars we know driving and aesthetics are top notch! I think if the camera alone was on par with segment rivals the rest would suffice and we can start focusing on the great things about these cars rather than complaining about the short comings!
I believe the projection mode is where you can send pictures and videos from your phone onto your screen. Because it showed that little illustration, and it said device management
I have a 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia. I absolutely love it. 2 things that doesn't set well with me are: The rough vibration at startup and the backup cameras software are terrible.
Can each driver setup functions individually, per key, as you do with seating positions? And can you input letters by typing on the centre console knob? And wiki works when car is off? (eg to check car via a dashcam when parked)
Maybe I missed it but did they upgrade the back up camera and make it full screen. Also did they fix the issues where to open/close the hatch you have to hold the button. Plus is you don't close it all the way it gets stuck and have to sit there and open it all the way open to then be able to bring it back down???
You knew I was waiting for this.... You KNEW I would scrutinize it... What you didn't know was that I was able to visit a dealer down here in the 305 and touch it myself. Thoughts: 1. Little bit of lag in responsiveness. 2. Too much border. What are you doing with all that dark space? 3. The aesthetics of the dash inlay looks better on the Giulia than the Stelvio (which offsets the fact that the Stelvios cup holder cover is way better than the WTH open cup holder space on the Giulia). 4. The back up camera needs to be updated with a somewhat larger display. 5. They are going to have to do some OTA software updates pretty quickly because the lag mentioned in #1 is going to p_ss off some folks . 6. Luckily you get CarPlay/Android Auto... Still waiting for the QV's...keep me in the loop @Rons Rides

Have anyone experienced a dark backup camera at night time? Anyway to fix it? Dealership mentioned to make the display brighter but that’s not convenient while driving either. TIA

I would have to say the fact that it will receive updates over the air. That being said the fact that you have several different forms of accessing the different options and layoutsis it feature that useful because that way people can make their experience of interacting with the car their own
@Marcelo Lopez Its so much more personable than before and Alfa thought long term with the over the air updates. Makes the user experience a lot more friendly.
Rons Rides Italian cars are about the driver experience, now as far as technology they suck because there focus is on that experience of feeling the car. Now I don’t have a problem with that because I love sports cars but my wife cares more about the technology and Comfort. I believe I didn’t see car play

I researched my purchase of my 2018 AR Stelvio TI Sport for about a year...(before they were on US shores) and I am absolutely in LOVE with my 2018 Stelvio...no surprises, no big complaints; truly the best all-conditions car I could’ve hoped for! I LOVE MY STELVIO Q4 FULLY..! Here’s the question: I love driving and being fully-in-control of my car...the newest Alfas let enthusiasts be enthusiasts without too much distraction from the road... ...will this new Marelli system add or subtract from the true Man v. Machine interface..? I love the simple Marelli system in my 2018 Stelvio because it just lets me DRIVE...will I gain by moving up to the newest tech in a newer model of a car I already love..? I ask because I’m in a lease due late-2021...should I wait for even more advances...or buy the wonderful Stelvio that’s loved me back for all these months? I’m excited to see what Alfa might have in the near future!

What are the settings in Natural (throttle, AWD, steering, etc.)? Curious to see what they say in that mode? Can each mode be customized or are they just showing information?
I'm almost positive it does because the 2019 systems did. I had a guy come into the dealership to test it with his SD card.

@@RonsRides aptX needs to be tested with any new Android device that supports aptX through Bluetooth (almost all new Android supports this codec), not the SD card. You probably talking about FLAC audio files.
Unfortunately you cannot add navigation to you Alfa Id the options isn’t available/added from factory. Thats what I’ve heard but someone correct me if I’m wrong.
I prefer the older system. I'm a simple guy. I don't think many people buy Alfa Romeo for the technology. This brand is about the driving....as it should be. I don't know why automakers even bother spending so much money into infotainment systems. Most people just use their phones anyway. Just use a software that can integrate the phone into the car's screen and that's it. Apple car play or Android for the fools. I have never used my car's navigation. I rather use my iPhone's map app.
But that's why not many peoply buy Alfa Romeo at all and in order for the brand to survive it must evolve. Besides new technology is "bad" until you get used to it
Italian brands have never been super deep into digital media in infotainment like that. When you look at Maserati, Ferrari, Lamborghini etc, a lot of their infotainment have been sub-par because they are more performance and passion driven. The other stuff is a plus but not the main focus point as it is for other brands.
Such bullshit. The default "home" screen for many is Apple CarPlay or AndroidAuto. Many of the controls he mentions are one-time settings. And the fact that they cram so much in there negates the benefit of a larger screen. Besides, as a Giulia QV owner (2018), I can tell you the best music comes from the engine and exhaust. Turn off the radio, place both hands on wheel, and enjoy these cars for what they're meant to be.
This system is garbage. Tom Tom over Garmin and no wireless CarPlay. You can make a car that drives good and still have good tech. I think that’s a cop-out. My 2011 ford had a better system and had AC seats.

I believe once you get over the learning curve of the commander knob, you’ll never need to use the touchscreen aspect on the infotainment system.

Hi Ron, if you change the D N A on the screen to say dynamic does it affect the dial knob which could be on Normal
That doesn’t switch the mode. It shows you what each mode does.
