In this video i do my normal thing of walking.. filming.. catching everything on bodycam, whilst getting artistic video shots on the mobile (to then edit together later).
This time the body footage was the better content for sure as a crazy security guard gets upset with me filming😆

Architectural photographer here. I love taking photos there. I’m always approached by bored security guards. Some are on a power trip. Most are decent and professional. If I encounter problems, I always speak to a supervisor who will immediately arrive. Problem is always sorted in my favour. Canary Wharf is private estate, despite the road markings, bus stops etc so the guards can ask you to leave for any or no reason. However the Management are keenly aware and adverse of negative publicity, so tend to resolve problems like you encountered. Good to see you stand your ground. Nice views btw.

The problem is that the company employing the security guard is not training them to deal with this kind of issue. They take in low paid people and give them the basic training to hold the blue badge and maximise profits from the charge to the building owner. That's modern business, its how they stay profitable. The guards lack of knowledge is understandable , he is told what to do and see's someone doing something out of the ordinary and tries to protect the building. Its lack of knowledge not malice that got him into it. Not all security guards went to university and took law, There are many people who do not know the laws of the land working in security and even Policing. Laws change but retraining is a short sometimes overlooked thing that the guard may or may not get.

Hi! A former Security Supervisor here. Watch 01:30, this would give grounds to approach you, and was done to provoke a response from Security.
The S/O was wrong to pursue you like he did.
Usually a quick interaction is enough to detect the intent behind someone's actions. You'd come across as an auditor and would just be asked to politely stay on public areas.
Remember the Manchester Arena bombing and loss of life - this is why we look out for stuff (like someone filing cameras like you 01:30), but we should also be more professional than the initial S/O in your clip.

The problem, like the elephant in the room, is that from what I can see, nearly all these 'security' guards come from Afro-Caribbean countries and just find it virtually impossible to relate to life and work in the UK. They gain employment because no sane person would do that sort of job for the sh*t wages that they are paid. Also they are given no training whatsoever by their employers as witnessed by this idiot who had to be led away by someone in possession of a brain - perhaps he should have been wearing a white coat. Surely he must go home at the end of his shift and think to himself: 'Why do I keep going home looking like a complete prat? I think I'll do something about it'. Canary Wharf doesn't give them any training whatsoever - they couldn't care less. Perhaps he'll realise he's in the wrong job and apply for a senior position in Goldman Sachs on a starting salary of £100,000.00pa.

For all the comments here saying he was on public property - this is incorrect. Canary Wharf is a private estate, and not public property so they are entitled to ask you to stop filming there, or ask you to leave if you don't. Alternatively, it is possible to request permission to photograph/film there - I've done this myself for other areas in London that are privately owned but open to the public, and it saves a lot of hassle.

Worth pursuing this. Apparently Canary Wharf enjoys the same (real or imagined) status as the City of London because ports were owned by the country from which their goods came, e.g. Greenland Dock. How this status has changed over time, I don't know, but they seem to regard themselves as 'another country' with its own rulles and regulations, even though they are no longer a port.

We are not really interested in the Asda Tesco's vauxhall Costco places we can do that ourselves probably phone ahead and do it properly no worries as they really have nothing to hide, what u should do is go to the sites run by and owned by known criminals I think you will find the security a bit more forceful that's what we wld find interesting
