Confidence is the most difficult mental skill to develop because it takes time and repeated success to build. But if we recognize our low-confidence moments and work strategically to overcome them, then you'll gain more confidence and have more self-belief.

Confidence is definitely key. In my teens just didn’t have it! Before the English schools championship would beat my Hertfordshire team mate.....at the English Schools he finished 8th I finished 123rd....confidence was definitely the issue.

Part of confidence development is to give yourself workouts and runs that build your confidence IMO (Ie. don't give yourself a GMP workout in the first few weeks of your marathon block. I know it sounds logical but I see so many that try to make every workout a fitness test. Inevitably, there is failure and then the confidence wains). Being consistent in your running and going out in adverse weather situations also develops confidence for me.

Would you ever consider doing a video on inconsistent foot striking? I notice that my left foot suponates while my right is neutral.. And I've always had lower leg pain in my left leg

You probably need to see a PT.

Hah! Same, well at least I get mild left patellar tendinitis. I think it’s honestly glute weakness in my circumstance. I have a history of back injury accompanied by sciatica down my left leg. So I’m doing some PT that will most likely help me out of it. There’s something with your form aside from your foot strike that is out of wack most likely.

I struggle with confidence the week before a race. Normally it's the thought have I done enough to reach my goal? If racing helps to overcome that how do I do that when there are no races?
