- The title says it all, this Saturday was like so many others on the Rhine around Cologne. Footage from the monthly recumbent riders' meeting, which turned out to be practically exclusive to vetomobiles.
These types of videos is how I on the west coast of canada found out about Velomobiles and commuting. At the time I was watching videos made by Paul Martin(sp?) from Brisbane, Australia.
Good scenery in your journey, thank you I enjoyed it...🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
war wieder mal eine geliungene fahrt mit gutes wetter un schoene aus sichten jj danke
Hach ich krieg schon wieder Lust...aber Saisonpause muss auch mal sein...

Who will we see at the Oliebolletocht in Arnhem this year?
Nice video, roads and scenery, I have Garmin, but not a Virb, am trying a Ali Express Dual Motorcycle camera with GPS and no screen, have just set it up on my Quest, but I'm not really into making videos like this, might do one from the OBT and the ride there ad back.
There's a good chance of meeting a couple of these riders in real life at OBT next month.
Thanks for the footage! A few questions 1) What chain ring size and gear are you in at 4:15 going up that steep hill? I haven't figured out the proper gearing for my Snoek yet that will allow me to go up steep hills but still have high speed capability. 2) What camera gear do you recommend for velomobilers now? The Garmin Virb 360 appears to be discontinued.
At that hill I am in the second lowest gear. My setup is 60 t chainwheel, 11-52 cassette. As to a camera, I have no good advice to offer as I am not looking for a new one. I like the virb360 but its battery sizes and energy management sucks.
@@rhein228 Thank you!
Cool schöne Tour
👍👍
Hills are harder on my recumbent trike compared to my bicycles. Would hate to think what it is like in a heavier velomobile. On my recumbent trike even though have low gearing with a rohloff hub ; due to extra time it takes to climb, alot more laborious than on the bicycles.
It is a bit harder to climb in a velomobile compared to the trike. On the other hand, the weight penalty is not that big if you think in terms of system weight. If a trike is at 15 kg and a velomobile at 25, that sounds like a lot, but the stiffness of the drive train compared to the trike will compensate for some of that difference. I find myself climbing at about the same speed on my and trike and my velomobiles.
Here’s some evidence on hill climbing by velomobile: th-cam.com/video/TeObUbXsHXg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=35ueyN16dlYnwiAf
