  • @fogit4668
    @fogit4668 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You need to retune. I am guessing your bike is a 2007-2008. I have a 2005 Road King Classic with just 74,000 miles. Depending on your miles you need to check your cam chain tensioners. The outside one usually last a long time. The inside one tends to not last as long. Next thing is to replace the stock primary chain tensioner. I use a South Oregon Hot Bike tensioner that is hydraulic and has worked really well for 60,000 plus miles. The stock primary tensioner can over tighten the chain and cause damage to your flywheel, transmission shaft or both.

    • @seabass_m
      @seabass_m  ปีที่แล้ว

      i’ve bought the dyno jet tuner and will be tuning the bike in a video! also yes it is a 08 Roadking with 30,xxx miles. I appreciate your input, thank you for watching as well!

    • @fogit4668
      @fogit4668 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@seabass_m You are welcome. At 30,xxx miles you are about 5,000 over the point of checking the tensioners for the camshaft chain. I have done it on a friends bike. It is not hard. Just takes time and tools. Cyco tensioners are better than the HD ones. I have a new question for you. Do you have the stock shocks on the bike? If you do make sure you have enough air in the shocks based on your weight from the manual.

    • @seabass_m
      @seabass_m  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fogit4668 I was just looking up when to check the cam tensioners for my 08 which is a 96 motor and have seen that my motor comes with the hydraulic cam tensioner already, does that sound right? You make a good point to check them and i will be doing that. I have not checked the air in the rear shocks, they are the stock ones and i do want to replace those air shocks to spring shocks and lower 1” front and back.

    • @fogit4668
      @fogit4668 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@seabass_m Yes your 96" will have hydraulic cam chain tensioners. I am pretty sure they are to be checked at 25,000 miles. You have to pull the camplate to check the inner shoe of the cam chain hydraulic tensioner. When to do that you want to make sure you catch all of your oil that comes out of the dry sump and measure it. If you measure more than 4 to 6 ounces you have an oil pump that is not really working well. The other hydraulic tensioner I am talking about can be seen on youtube here th-cam.com/video/PqUa1f7BW9U/w-d-xo.html this video is of the one you would actually need.

      @@seabass_m With your exhaust if you lower your bike you will scrape the tips often and then have a horrible ride along with it. You can get an air ride suspension for front and rear that allows you to raise and lower it as you go and stop. It only cost about $3,500+.

    @roadkingrider6532 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think you don’t necessarily have to retune. However anytime you get a different type of breather or exhaust, if it’s not the exact same you will notice a improvement with a new tune.
