Update: I'm using my son-in-law's TH-cam sign-on. My name is Lew, I live in Pittsburgh and turned 69 last July. I'm trading my 2014 Moto Guzzi California and buying this Road King. I stopped in at SRK Cycles two weeks ago. It was so cool to talk with Sean. He's a great guy and a savvy business man. Within minutes, he made a fair deal with me and the bike will be shipped to Pittsburgh on January 6. The deal included the shipping, installing a back rest, removing the radio/speakers, PA State inspection and oil change. Thank you, Caleb, for handling all of the details and paperwork. The cool thing is that I bought this bike based on Sean's video. I think Sean has mastered the art of demonstrating motorcycles on TH-cam. If you see a bike that you like on this channel, I encourage to call Sean or Caleb. I'll do another update after my Road King is delivered and I take my first ride.
No radio, no fairing, no gps... that is exactly why I bought my RoadKing. For me it is the best of what a large frame motorcycle can be. I think you did a great job explaining the appeal of the King.
UPDATE: I bought this Road King in December. Before delivery on January 6, SRK removed the radio/speakers, installed a backrest, oil change, PA inspection. Delivered in Pittsburgh on the date promised in perfect condition. Took my first ride on this beauty last Sunday---fantastic bike. This was a great buying experience---Thanks Sean and Caleb---and I will definitely do business with SRK again.
That’s awesome. I bought a 2019 road king special 114. Just turned 1600 kms first service done.looking forward for years to come. Question for you did you any engine problem, you always read about the negativity that people have with their engines but never hear of the positive good outcomes. Cheers
Wow! Really? That is awesome sir. I'm 58. Retired Air Force. I'm buyin a 2013 rk w/7k miles on the clock. Then I'm taking off from Sacramento to Grand Canyon North Rim from there up thru Utah n over to Royal Gorge, CO, then where ever the road takes me Retired life. Btw, Been riding since I was 8. My last bike was a 2015 SG special.
Paul Clark I’m 71 and also have a 2017 Road King. Living in SW Florida gives me a chance to ride year around. Have some health issues that hold me back from big rides, but take the bike out as often as I can. Loving it.
Amazing how we change with age. I wouldn’t be caught dead using a windshield when I was 19 and had my first Harley. At 32-33 I decided to put a windshield on my Dyna Wide Glide. At 36 I’m ready for a batwing fairing and lowers 😂. The “ old mans” bike is looking really really good to me these days ! 👍🏼
When were young we do lots of crazy things to justify not having the stuff we just can’t afford. Give that 19-year-old the opportunity to roll off the factory showroom floor with the top-of-the-line features and all of a sudden anyone without full fairings is a Plēb. Our sensibilities are formed by our means of production.
The road king was my entry level bike, never had a problem with it. After a day of riding I was pretty much used to it. I figured I’d start with a bigger heavier bike instead of gradually working up to it.
Yea I’m trying to get into my first bike and was thinking about a road king. After he said he wouldn’t recommend as entry I was like why??? Saw ur post and glad someone did what I was thinking lol
I absolutely love the HD Road King Classic (I wish they were made in the US). The simplicity, the spoked wheels, the white wall tires, and the avalanche of aftermarket parts. Such a joy and beauty to behold. For my retirement, I purchased a brand new 2012 Road King Classic (blue/black) that I configured with my preferences. It had the touring trunk, the HD GPS, the BOOM audio twin speakers, adjustable backrest, etc. Unfortunately, in 2017, the divorce lawyers required a sacrifice and my dream motorcycle was lost on the chopping block. But I digress. I’m 56 years young and have been riding since I was 13. I’ve lost count of the number of motorcycles I’ve had the pleasure to ride and own. Having said that, my 2012 Road King Classic was the best riding experience I’ve had on a motorcycle. I’m retired now and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to own one again, but at the very least I have my fond experiences. No one can ever take those away. If you own one, enjoy the good times and make lots of memories.
For Harley twin cams, the issues were solved before they released the 96 engine. So if you get an 88ci (99-06), you may need to do cam work. The 96ci (07-10 for baggers, 07-12 for softail and dyna), and 103ci are very rare to have issues. That's why prices from an 06 to 07 jump quite a bit in the used market. You can find 99-06 Harleys for 5 grand or sometimes less all the time. It's rare to find a post 07 Harley for less than 7 grand.
midwest farmer I hope your right. My 99 rk motor self destructed at 49000 miles.now have a 09 rk with 33000 96 ci any issues with this Motor that you know of?
@@dennypluto4028 I don’t believe so. My father in law has two with a TON of miles. I bought his 3rd one a ‘11 RK it only has 13k miles, however he hasn’t had any issues with any of them. Just stay up with maintenance and you should be good! Great motors.
I had a 2003 twin cam 88 on a RoadKing. Never had any problems with the engine. I put 79,000 miles on it. My only complaint would be the primary chain adjuster which required frequent adjustment. Wish they came out with the automatic chain adjuster sooner.
I love your videos and how you honestly assess the different bikes. I also really appreciate your boldness in sharing Scripture in each video. Thanks for letting your light shine!!!
I love large big E-glide fairing. In summer I use a small 8 inch windscreen with wind deflecters on the fairing for cooling, and in winter a 13 inch windsplitter screen with closed wind deflecters. Works great.
I own this year RK and absolutely love it! I love the detachable windshield, and rear cargo so I can set up to tour or cruise the blvd! Just put a Saddlemen seat and the handling and comfort has improved so much! Like you I wear a full face helmet and have a Bluetooth Sena so my music is always there.
Just bought a 2010 road king classic because you spoke so highly of them in your videos. Love this bike so much. Best bike I ever owned. . It's so versatile. Thanks !!!
I didn’t care much about Harleys till I rode one. I was sold in like five minutes. It was an Eaglerider rental leading up to two HD rentals for out west trips with my girlfriend. Then I bought my 2014 103 Roadking. I also rented and owned Wings and Beemers but I’m done with that. The only bike I ever had that ever made me feel so good was my 76 Honda CB125, but I was 16!
I agree with your feeling about the Road King. All the extras (fairings, radios, gps, etc.) I don't need. I went with the Indian Springfield for the same reason. If you like the Road King, you will love the Springfield.
Well, personaly, I like RK because of it's simplicity and many variations of look-styles. I prefer black polished mid-apehanger with bullets turn signals on it the same look like a new RK special.
I like the wide bars too i plan to swap out the bars on my 2002 FLSTC. I have a wrecked 01 FLHRCI Road King I am rebuilding and the bars on it are trashed so i will put a nice wide set of bars on it. The Road King is suppose to have 114 K on it but the compression is not far off and the cam tensioners and chain looks new. i asked the guy who i bought it from if the motor was rebuild but he didn't know he only has it 6 months when he got hit. It was in storage from 2009 to 20019. Love Harley-Davidson motorcycle and the Road king is closed to my 72 FLH and i love it had it over 30 years.
@@disht2 2003 here. I changed the cam tensioners at 49,000 and have 89,000 on it now. The tensioers still are usable but I'm going to put the 3rd set by 100,000. The cross over pipe broke on me twice so I went with Patriot Defenders. The bike runs great!
@@martincvitkovich724 I changed the cam chain tensioners to the hydraulic tensioners just to be safe. Lucky for me cause the stock pads turned out to be chewed up pretty bad. I opened up the motor and even the pistons were carboned up, the cylinder walls still showed the crosshatch marks from the original tooling. I blame epa for the carbon build up.
@@disht2 Great! I would have done that but Harley paid to have the 2nd set put in even though they were still usable! Extended Warranty) Now that the bike is up in miles, and I'm pushing 70 Y/O I can't justify the expense. Maybe I should but I'll invest in the tools to change the tensioners and replace the cam bearings.
I bought my 2010 Road King this past January. 3884 original miles but it had been stored somewhere that was wet. The whitewalls were yellowed and rust had started to form on the chrome in places. It also had a stage one on it. A new set of whitewalls were put on it and gone through mechanically one end to the other plus a 5K service. Next it was put on the dyno to make sure it was dialed in. Then I spent 5 hours polishing every piece of chrome and another three hours doing a wash, wax, and detailing the bike. The latest addition was a Harley solo seat. You wouldn’t know it was the same bike now. I have the original windshield but I prefer it without it as the view is just amazing compared to the 2018 Street Glide Special with the bat fairing on it. It’s turn key and go and no stereo system or navigation which makes it totally awesome to ride compared to my Street Glide Special.
Lionel here in central California. I just bought my 5th Road King, 2022. My 96 had 59k, 00 had 60k when I sold them. I still have my 2003 100th anniversary with over 207,000 miles. The bottom end is still original. Same primary chain, clutch, starter, stator, rotor, regulator, and the total fuel injection system. Just made it a 95 inch with a mild cam at 51k. My daily rider is a 2008 Road King with over 77k. I've been in 38 states, from California to Florida, up to Washington DC. I've as much as 1200 miles in one day, a few times without a single problem. Yes I am a Road King guy, but I am sure I would be happy with any of the other Electra Glides. The Road King has the most accessories that can be added to in Harley's line up through the years. Just saying...
I have a 107 my friend had a 103 I rode his couldn't tell much difference. But the 107 is 1 cam and has the e.i.t.m.s. which means the back cylinder shuts down at idle to control heat. It works great. I got the torque cam and the stage 2 and it really surprised me 25% more power
I traded a 2014 ultra classic for my 2016 Road King I have now and absolutely love this bike. I did the beach bars the second year I had it and went to a true duals exhaust. Vance + Hines. I will keep this bike forever. Great video.
@@donaldcotnoir1865 I KNOW that looks good. Getting some accessory upgrades done next week. I have a "Bar n Shield" and "Chrome n Rubber" theme going on. Getting Chrome and Rubber Rider boards, Extended gear shift and brake lever with Chrome and Rubber pegs. Grips and new bars are next. And more chrome.
Good video, I think you’re right about no windshield that’s what it’s all about being out in the wind. Great idea to rent a bike sometimes you don’t know what you really need and want.
I bought a 2019 Heritage Classic 114 as my re-entry bike after a 30 year layoff. It was a great choice for getting back into it. I do love the RK and may go to one next summer. Thanks for the video.
2002 Road King Classic Stage 2. I run a Dragonfly fairing and stereo system. Being up in the Sierras, we have huge bugs in the summer and very cold temps in the winter, so I like the fairing.
Yes I love the Road King too. Although I have a Deluxe. One point I’d like to make about back tests is that if you are ever hit from behind you’ll probably break your back. Take it from a guy that who was hit from behind.
I have a 99 RK love it stage 1 only changed bars from aftermarket Beach to mini apes might go back to the beach , have 3 seats , has a lot of chrome 21” I get complements everywhere I go and people can’t believe it’s 20yrs old !! Point being it’s the most versatile HD load it up strip it down! Over the years it’s changed it’s appearance!
I’m so much like you I grew up on motocross then sport bikes. I always hated Harleys but then I rode some and I’m in love. Now I have a road king special and it’s the best thing I’ve had so far. People don’t know until they try
I have two Road Kings, both FHLP Police bikes. My 2018 has the Milwaukee 8 motor. Both have the tour pack and the back rest. Great riding bikes. My only beef is I haven't been able to ride them enough! Gonna retire very soon and plan to fix that situation. Not really sure how you can get a better riding bike. Is perfect - for me.
Right! I like my bike naked. Stereos and gps are just a distraction when you are communing with the road and giving attention to your own thoughts while on a nice ride. I’m riding a ‘04 1200XLC which I just returned from a road trip to PA from TN. A Road King could be in my future.
I disagree with a Road King not being suited for an entry level rider ... It depends on the rider ... My first bike was ... And still is an '05 Road King .... And its perfect for me ... I will never own a different model... I will always be on a Road King ... Unless that Rune is cheap lol
I had a road king but traded it for a Road Glide special. I hated the windshield on the Road King so I rode without one. It was only comfortable up to 55 mph without the shield. I run the stock short screen on the Road Glide with the vents open all the time. A lot smoother air without too much wind.
Road Kings ride better than a Heritage. A Road King is the same frame as a Road Glide or Street Glide. Heritage is a softail. Don't get me wrong, softails ride great, and with a few mods they ride great for road trips. However, the larger bikes from the factory are ready for long trips. For example, I have a softail and I can tell you I'd be strongly considering a different set of shocks and better seat at the least if I was going to do a cross country trip.
I bought a 2019 Road King because it was absent the stuff I did not need and did not wish to pay for. Just did 1200-plus miles from PA to NC, around NC and back again. The RK did it just fine, even in 100 degree heat.
No radio great no distractions can concentrate all of my efforts on other people who can't drive a car and follow traffic signs and traffic laws I have a 2008 FLHRC Road King classic and wouldn't trade it for ANYTHING the upgrades are to much to mention but It's all worth it to me get a ton of compliments from the color (purple) to the chrome and of course the sound
I fell in love with a 2007 Road King Custom. Haven’t bought it yet. I’m looking for a cruise control unit as HD didn’t offer it on the Custom but did on the Classic. Would you know where I could get one? HD doesn’t offer it anymore.
If you’re riding a bike thousands of miles, that’s the bike. I love my ‘12 Road King, not sure as much as my ‘05 VTX 1800, but I plan on holding on to this one for many years to come..
This has been and continues to be my favorite motorcycle channel on all of TH-cam, and there are some great ones that I support! I just had to say that and get if off my chest, and yeah, I get that I'm a little late to the party. We all have times of "staying ready in-season or out," but I want to express how much I look forward to seeing more of this content down the road!!! Grace and peace, Scott
I owned a 2003 Road King. Loved that bike and put 79,000 miles on it. Had a 2016 Street Glide, liked it, but in the end wished I had bought another Road king. I missed the openness of the RK and found all the electronics on the Street Glide too distracting. Plus the fairing adds weight and makes the bike more top heavy.
I just picked mine up yesterday on the 10th. Bday gift. My bday is tomorrow. My first bike ever! I got a 2005 Road King. No windshield on it yet. They gave me a back rest for free. That was nice of them. I was so nervous to ride away on it, yet extremely excited😂. A nice 40th bday gift from my wife. I can’t stop looking at her🥰. I live in Florida. It’s the first time that I’ve said I can’t wait for it to warm up😂. It’s been really cold lately🥶. I can’t believe that I actually have a Harley in my garage, my God😃. I’m not a Harley guy, but I do respect what they produce. My dream bike is the Indain Challenger. I’m not a picky guy. I’m extremely grateful for what I got. All thanks goes to the Lord, and my wife🙌🏽
I liked this bike so much that I bought it. If you think Sean, Caleb and the other guys are cool on video, treat yourself to a trip to Landisville. I met Sean and Caleb in person and they made the transaction for this beautiful Road King soooo easy.
I was blessed back in 2018 when I bought my 03 road king classic never thought I would own one always said if I rolled up on a king I'd have it together its been a great bike lucky to own one
I sold my 2001 Road King and my 2002 FLSTC twin cams. I'm looking for an Evo Road King I'm done with computer bikes. I agree the Road King is my favorite Harley.
Thats definitely a good point , i currently own a Fatboy and would like a long distance tourer . The better suspension of the Roadking would be something to look in to.
Different strokes for different folks. I went without a windshield for over 20 years, but once you use a windshield and notice the lack of smashed bug juice on your jacket, and the increased comfort not having to hang on the the handlebar grips to compensate for the airpressire against tour body,, at least for me I won't go back to no windshield. I have my clear windshield cut down to 4" below eye level. Most of the air is deflected over my body except for a layer of air pressure that the helmet air scoop grabs air to go through my helmet. My previous helmet only has two air holes facing forward. My latest helmet has a small 1" scoop in front, a i/2" air space above your head, and the exit vents to allow the air to exit your helmet. But like I said: Different strokes for different folks.
I bought my 2016 Road King because, for me, that is what a motorcycle looks like. Those three lights, that windshield, that weight and that style. I Love My Road King, it suits me perfectly. And, yes, I completely agree with you about the windshield. I keep the windshield off all summer long.
2001 roadking with apes and full fairing with infinity stereo and 4 5.25 Polk audio speakers and it's by far the best bike I've ever owned. I'm a roadking fanatic also I don't have the backrest yet but I'm looking for a good deal.
7:49 - The 103 was the engine with cam chain tension adjuster issues, but it was pre 2009, which was before hydraulic cam chain tension adjusters were introduced. It is also a twin cam engine.
I've got exactly the same bike just a few months ago and I absolutely love it! As for the bars, I got 16" ape hangers and for me it looks great with them and also handles great)
A motorcycle is a tool. I’m not the biggest HD fan but a Road King is a good solid bike for commuting and long distance. It’s not made for track days. If you want to get your street Rossi on you’ll need a sport bike. Is a Gold Wing or Victory Vision a better bike? For some yes but as Sean says, it’s not what you’re riding but the ride itself.
I just went from 1 full fairing 1 mini fairing 2 no wind shield.....to 1 windshield 2 no winshield Mini fairing wasn't that bad but the full fairing was way too much for me. I might will do a good sound system.....my fairing had a crappy radio w/crappy antenna and crappy speakers
Great review and point of view! i think you got it right. Myself i ride a dyna fatbob 2011 at the moment, but thinking to go over to a touring model. SG/RG's are nice but with the fairings and infotainment built in that will expire at some moment, which makes you get the choice: change it out for newer device, accept the lesser functionality if you don't or buy another motorcycle. With the RK you can do infotainment change outs much easier. hm. something to think about... i still like the look SG/RG also... owell... choices choices 😁 have a great one! Greetz from a rider in the Netherlands
I liked my 01 Road King more than my 02 FLSTC. I sold them both and bought a 98 Fatboy. If I were buying a new Harley I would buy the Road king I think. I am a fan of a windshield my first bile was a 41 45ci Sports o solo with no windshield. In the summer of 70 I was coming home at night and was hit right in the chest by a big barn awl and almost crashed so I have had a windshield since. On my 72 a car going the other way hit a hunk of tailpipe in the road that smashed my windshield and shaved the mirror off the bike but didn't hurt me much.
@@jaketester9555 I will be honest with you, when I got the bike delivered to me, I just walked around it and sit on it for two weeks while it parked in my garage. It was intimidating. Ride it on Sunday morning, weh the traffic is calm, and with every time you ride it you start fell it more and more. And a very important advice: be aware of your limitations, and don't push your luck. I got used to it fast, but it toke me about a year to be completely relaxt and calm on it all the time. The first year I rode only 1600mile. Next year 11K. As your practice, the weight issu will disappear. Another advice: I took a day course with Ride like a pro. If you are not familiar with this, it as a 1 day cours held by motorcycle police officer coach. Helps you with low speed maneuvering. Game changing. Be patient, and know your limits. Good luck, and see you on the road!!!
I'm 60, been riding since I was 6. Got an 06 twin cam 88 lowrider a few years back. Felt awkward on it. Got a 2012 road king a year ago. I'm 225 lbs and i can lay the RK real low in corners. I think it has something to to with my weight and the weight of the bike. Bottom line? I'm way better on the twisties on this bike than ever before.
I have 07 flhrs road king custom. Im 5ft 4. I could reach ground best on the custom. Plus I put a screaming eagle reach seat, gave me another inch or so forward and a bit lower. Love it unfortunately im selling it now because of spine issues . I like the touring ride, the bad ass look, and its a harley.
Just got my wife an 07 Road King, shes 5’5”. Went from a sporty to that. She’s getting used to the extra weight but loves the ride and added power! I just put 10” mini apes and a 22” windshield on it. The apes bring the bars back and make for a much more comfortable ride 👌
Had a 04 Road Glide two years ago. Sold it and in November I purchased a 03 RK Anniversary Edition. I live in Wisconsin, could not drive it (purchased off two honest friends, 27,000 miles on it). It’s being stored right now, getting it lowered and handle bars adjusted. For some reason due to the fact I haven’t been on a bike in over two years, but had a 2012 ultra, before that a 97 softail, then I got the 04 Road Glide. I’m getting nervous about jumping on the RK. Been watching several motorcycle videos a week just to get my mind right to overcome this little self doubt. I plan on picking up the bike and going directly to a nearby large parking lot to practice and get the feel of it. Any other suggestions? Thank you for your video
I just purchased an 04 rk classic. I absolutely love the bike except the stock bars are big turn beach bars. I hav carple tunnel syndrom and these make it almost impossible to enjoy this bike
Totally get his statement about feeling more connected to your surroundings. No windshield on my Sport Glide and love it, especially on 90+ F days. Some people treat the wind like it is acid rain. If you hate wind, drive a convertible.
A-men, lose that windshield! I totally agree that less is more when riding. Almost bought a Road King but went with a 2019 Sport Glide instead and love the small bikini fairing. Have ridden her from coast to coast twice, and didn't feel the need for more fairing. I see these massive fairings on bikes that are mainly in-town bikes and i think to myself, they might as well be in a car! Nearly bought a Road King and still want one. Someday i'll have one to compliment my Sport Glide! A blacked-out Road King Custom with those stretched bags and a 114!
Yes, they CAN handle really well if the rider is good. I ride a Sporty and I have a very hard time keeping up with my buddy on his 99 Road King in the mountain twisties. I couldn't believe how great it handles. His Twin Cam 88 has lots of low end torque and that big cruiser eats mountain two-lanes for breakfast. I think the only thing limiting his speed in turns is his foot boards. Before I rode with him I was one of those who profiled the BIG BAGGERS. I'm glad I was wrong.
I am torn between the FLHR and FLHT. Both the best values in the Touring lineup, both with clear advantages and disadvantages, and both about the same price 🤔
I haven't actually started riding but love the look of them I am 5ft 4. Would I struggle with any of the cruisers do you think? Assuming with a few years of experience. I personally love the look of the Electra glide.
Hey Brother, I don't know if you've noticed but, when you make left turns you kinda turn wide. Your wheels don't cross over but, your handle bars seem to. Hate for you get side swiped!
If I ever buy another Harley, it'll be a Road King. I like the simplicity of it (e.g. no fairing, electronics, etc.), yet it still has hard bags and the robust touring chassis. If you're a bigger guy (e.g. 200+ lbs.) you'll appreciate that touring chassis on longer rides. Plus, they just have the classic old school Harley looks like the Heritage used to have before the Harley brain trust screwed that up with the new design/look.
I live in a more remote area without a selection of helmets to look at. I am looking for a full face helmet that I can put my glasses on easily with the face shield up. With speakers that would talk to my phone would be great. Any recommendations?
I have a 2016 Road King with the 103 and honestly I’m not all that impressed. The ride is satisfactory, the handling is kind of cumbersome, but it is what it is and I knew that when I bought it. On a scale of 1-10 I’d give my bike a 6.5. Color Billet Silver Spoked wheels with whitewalls Old guy rider. Almost forgot to ask. Anyone else think the. Whitewall tires handle more poorly that the standard tire?
I think the road kings handle amazing. Now I’ve been riding a total of a month all together by first bike was a dyna low rider 1450cc now I’m on a 1997 road king. The bike is so stable you can dip into turns real easily
I consider reliability to not just be how durable or easy to maintain something is, but how easy is it to find knowledgeable mechanics and how easy is it to find affordable parts. I also don't think a twin cam is that hard to maintain or repair, especially if you have a CV carb.
The more of your vids I watch, the better I like them. I've watched a bunch, they are interesting and entertaining. loved the line "until I started riding them". True that.
Converted my fatboy into a RK clone, with a S&S 124. Kind of regret not just buying a RK now, would have fathered the touring frame over the softail. Especially after talking to everyone i know with a RK and the differences, and watching these videos.
I ride a 99 Road King, Owned Hondas, Susuki, and Kaws before. Loved them all. But the Road King will be with me until my estate is settled. What a wonderful feel to it. Handling and comfort with enough power response to be everything I want

At 36 I’m ready for a batwing fairing and lowers 😂. The “ old mans” bike is looking really really good to me these days ! 👍🏼
I’m 32 , have 98 WG. There are some days I seriously consider putting the windshield back on. Just can’t bring myself to do it yet.
You want a GeezerGlide.
I’m 34 I want a RG and I like windshields
Sport bikes make you appreciate aero
When were young we do lots of crazy things to justify not having the stuff we just can’t afford. Give that 19-year-old the opportunity to roll off the factory showroom floor with the top-of-the-line features and all of a sudden anyone without full fairings is a Plēb. Our sensibilities are formed by our means of production.
go with an fxrt fairing that'd be so sexy
The road king was my entry level bike, never had a problem with it. After a day of riding I was pretty much used to it. I figured I’d start with a bigger heavier bike instead of gradually working up to it.
Pushing aroung 800+ lbs of bike as a beginner... smart move.
Same…
Yea I’m trying to get into my first bike and was thinking about a road king. After he said he wouldn’t recommend as entry I was like why??? Saw ur post and glad someone did what I was thinking lol
I feel safer on a touring bike. All my accidents happened on an Indian scout.
I’m 69 and ride a lot! Go buy one that’s used and get on it!
It's rare to find a post 07 Harley for less than 7 grand.
the only real issue i know of is the shitty compensators.. baker has like a 2 month long waiting list
midwest farmer I hope your right.
You hit the nail on the head!! Love Love Love my Road King.
I love large big E-glide fairing. In summer I use a small 8 inch windscreen with wind deflecters on the fairing for cooling, and in winter a 13 inch windsplitter screen with closed wind deflecters. Works great.
The Road Kings windshield is its secret weapon👍
The road king just tops it all when it has tall ape hanger bars makes it look just 😍😍😍
I own this year RK and absolutely love it!
Thanks !!!
Road King for ever. Simple clutter free, you can see the road in front of you. Great for short rides long rides all around great bike.
what about the Heritage
I didn’t care much about Harleys till I rode one. I was sold in like five minutes. It was an Eaglerider rental leading up to two HD rentals for out west trips with my girlfriend. Then I bought my 2014 103 Roadking. I also rented and owned Wings and Beemers but I’m done with that. The only bike I ever had that ever made me feel so good was my 76 Honda CB125, but I was 16!
I have 6 credit saved up!
I agree with your feeling about the Road King. All the extras (fairings, radios, gps, etc.) I don't need. I went with the Indian Springfield for the same reason. If you like the Road King, you will love the Springfield.
How about the Vintage?
Well, personaly, I like RK because of it's simplicity and many variations of look-styles. I prefer black polished mid-apehanger with bullets turn signals on it the same look like a new RK special.
Thanks for the daily videos. It takes my mind of the negative stuff.
I love my 2019 road king I've had 3 road king so far Love the way they handle No regrets
I have 98,000 miles on my ‘04 Road King and love it for all the reasons you describe.
Any serious work thats had to be done? I have an 03 with 40000. Always wondered how long they can actually last.
My 04 RK has 130k, went to 95 ci and changed out cam tensioners, bigger cam too. Love the bike since day 1.
80,000 miles on my 05 Road King. Love this bike!
I purchased an 06 Road King Classic back in February. One of the first mods I did was the riders backrest. Loving the Road King life.
On 2.
Road King RULES the roads!
King of the Road, King on the Road 😁😁😁
All hail the King!
I traded a 2014 ultra classic for my 2016 Road King I have now and absolutely love this bike. I did the beach bars the second year I had it and went to a true duals exhaust. Vance + Hines. I will keep this bike forever. Great video.
Nothing like em! 2007 here. Will NEVER get rid of it. LOVE it! Wide whites and all.
@@rudyvradio it's gotta have the wide whites for sure. Very retro looking. 😃
@@donaldcotnoir1865 Absolutely. Love my leather bags too.
@@rudyvradio my bike has the hard bags. It's glacier white and frosted teal. Has a lot of blue pearl in the white paint.
I ride a Road King because I want to hear the road noise, the engine and road, screw the radio.
Same
2002 Road King Classic Stage 2. I run a Dragonfly fairing and stereo system. Being up in the Sierras, we have huge bugs in the summer and very cold temps in the winter, so I like the fairing.
No windshield? Yes you’re young
61 and mostly no shield on my Road King and never a shield on my Breakout.
I'm almost 70 and took my first ride on this Road King on a 50 degree day in Pittsburgh. Love the windshield!
I like them for the reduced buffeting.
Makes riding so much less exhausting.
I ride a Road King. Out of all the touring bikes I've owned it's the most versatile to date.
Sean the real question is why chose a Road King over a Heritage Classic? Both have bags and a windsheild. Why pay more for a Road King?
Bigger frame and better suspension. Smoother ride for those who are concerned with such things.
@@prairiefarmer5994 thanks for the info.
Better brakes, suspension and bigger Tank that should do it. A definite consideration for the long haul
Ross Malagarie ...and don’t forget the lean angle. The big tourers corner better than the softtails.
I have a 2009 Road King and I have pretty much turned it into a CVO over time. It turn heads and I couldn’t be happier.
Ticky Tocky come see it and judge for yourself.
Once upon a time I test rode a Roadking with mini-apes and LOVED it. But I would prefer a Limited for passenger comfort and longer rides.
Cruising dowm the highway about 80 , what seemed like slow motion, I saw the tiny speck quickly grow to the largest bumble bee in utah. Bout knockr
Me off bike. Since then I use short windshield on road trips. Differentvstrokes
I bought my 2016 Road King because, for me, that is what a motorcycle looks like. Those three lights, that windshield, that weight and that style. I Love My Road King, it suits me perfectly. And, yes, I completely agree with you about the windshield. I keep the windshield off all summer long.
I’ve been riding scooters since 1968, soft tails, hard tails and baggers, you name it, only require 2 things. A back rest and wind screen.
Not a Harley fan but that's a good solid machine. Really enjoy your videos thanks and greetings from Scotland.
103 wasn't out in 09
The 2021 switch shows rpm’s and what gear you’re in.
I've got exactly the same bike just a few months ago and I absolutely love it! As for the bars, I got 16" ape hangers and for me it looks great with them and also handles great)
I love my Road King.
I just went from 1 full fairing 1 mini fairing 2 no wind shield.....to 1 windshield 2 no winshield
Mini fairing wasn't that bad but the full fairing was way too much for me.
My first ever motorcycle is a 2018 Road King. Love it! A beast hiding behind a classic look.
How hard was it to learn on a road king? I'm starting out on a softail heritage. I'm kinda nervous about starting on a such a heavy bike
Thank you so much! I've rode alot on dirt bikes, but never a heavy harley.
Roadking best Harley you can add a detachable fairing ect. Or nothing. Bet touring bike for sure
I'm 5'6" and there's a Harley Davidson Road King from 1998 which I could get my hands into, is it a good call?
How do you like this 103 in a roaling compared to a 110 screaming eagle
i love the road king because i love the ride... no windshield for me
Had a 04 Road Glide two years ago.
Awesome bro I'm 6ft 3 and quite a big bloke I'm looking at buying a roadking cause of my size
I just purchased an 04 rk classic. I absolutely love the bike except the stock bars are big turn beach bars.
I hav carple tunnel syndrom and these make it almost impossible to enjoy this bike
I have a 2010 roadking, love it!! But due to major back surgery I had to down size...picked up a 2020 street bob
Love my 2004 Road King.,Thought about selling it but decided to keep it. It’s been a great bike and never failed me. Colossians 3:23-24 ✝️
Is the 103 not a twin cam?
I think that’s the Milwaukee 8 single cam.
The 2014 103 is a twin cam engine, I believe the Milwaukee 8 wasn’t introduced until 2017.
That 103 IS a twin cam. The 88, 96, 103, and 110 are all twin cams. The 883, 1100, and 1200 are Evos. The Milwaukee 8 is a 107, 114, or 117.
I haven't actually started riding but love the look of them I am 5ft 4. Would I struggle with any of the cruisers do you think? Assuming with a few years of experience. I personally love the look of the Electra glide.
Too short....ride a scooter....lol. You will be fine. Just learn to ride before a bigger bike.
Love the fairing on my SGS I spent 45 years with nothing to block the wind and bugs , no regrets with a fairing here
I am like you with the fairings I have a snap on Memphis Shades Fats and lowers and they just pop off in warm weather...

Almost forgot to ask. Anyone else think the. Whitewall tires handle more poorly that the standard tire?
Привет из России!мне понравилось мнение автора по поводу дизайна и концепции HD .И классический дизайн всегда будет в моде .полностью согласен.
I think the road kings handle amazing. Now I’ve been riding a total of a month all together by first bike was a dyna low rider 1450cc now I’m on a 1997 road king. The bike is so stable you can dip into turns real easily
How big a difference does the new touring-chassie make on the road king?
I ride a 99 Road King,
Owned Hondas, Susuki, and Kaws before. Loved them all. But the Road King will be with me until my estate is settled. What a wonderful feel to it. Handling and comfort with enough power response to be everything I want
