Good morning,Maddie Wow, the cowries are amazing today. Love the lynx, mini sand dollars, wenteltraps, the bubble shells, and the sundial. There are so many just amazing shells. Thank you for another wonderful shelling adventure. It just helped me today. You always make my days better. Thank you for just being you. Have a wonderful day, Maddie
G'day Toni 👋🏻💖 The cowries were especially spectacular this time; they usually do not appear in such lovely condition and in such numbers like this!! There was a lot of variety for the other shells as well; I think that there is something for everyone to live in this big adventure. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch a few extra long ones lately, I'm glad that they can help. I wish I could make all of your days better 💖
G'day Teena 👋🏻🐚 It's a really lovely large one! They're not always a lovely golden colour, they can come in browns, reds, greys, bluish tones, and oranges. They're a really lovely species, I wish I found more of them! Thank you so much for watching 🥰
Good morning Maddie, what a wonderful day at the beach. What wonderful finds. Geez the Wentletrap witch strikes again 😂. I'm going to start calling you the queen of mini's lol. Love the thorny oyster, the scallops. My favorite is the lynx. What a beautiful shell. That acid stuff will bring it right back to its original beautiful. Thank you Maddie. Looking forward to you next video. I guess your just going to have to take. Up beach combing as a full time job 😂 just kidding. Sending hugs to my favorite sheller. Again Thank you for sharing.
G'day Roberta 👋🏻💖 It was a beautiful day out there, with a lot of shells to find! So many wentletraps once again, but I think this will be the last of them for a little while until the mid-moon tides return with more minis... but even then, so many wentletraps isn't guaranteed! That Lynx Cowrie is getting plenty of love this time; it's like a golden nugget that everyone is drawn to! Not sure if I will acid dip it; I don't like acid on cowries because it can eat away at the shells too quickly, and I dunno, I don't like the texture afterwards on them. I think I might bleach this one to fight off that pinkish fungus, then spend some time to polish it with the wet sand paper. It won't be perfect, but it will be better! As always Roberta, thank you so much for watching 🥰
G'day Susan 👋🏻💖 I can't remember the last time I had such a successful day in both the rock pools and the wracklines 😁 Wish there was more Cone shells to show you this time, but we'll have to settle for that cute little Music Cone...the elongated tip was quite interesting to see! Hehehe, the cowries really did steal the show though, I think the Lynx Cowrie is the crowd favourite this time, but thank you for also mentioned that Cat Cowrie 😺 it's extremely beautiful and in glossy condition, so it deserves some love ❤️ Thank you for watching the extra long shelling adventure 🥰
The lynx cowrie, the lynx cowrie is my favorite today!!! ❤ What a fabulous day for cowries and wentletraps. 🎉 I bet you were jumping out of your skin! 😂 The spondalus at the end was a beautiful colored one. I really like the fraudulent sand snail too! 🐌🐌🐌 Thank you for an exciting adventure Maddie! 🥰🥰🥰
G'day Pam 👋🏻💖 I think the Lynx Cowrie is the favourite today 🤩 must be something about those red teeth one it 😲 The Wentletraps were lovely little additions to the day...I wonder if I'll ever be able to fill my smallest jar fill of them? Ohhh and you liked the Spondylus and Moon Snail too 🐌 very unusual finds, I think!! Thank you so much for joining another big shelling adventure 🥰 I've been making a lot of long ones lately because of all the shells, so thank you for spending the extra time to watch them...I wonder how long I can keep this length for, now that another round of school holidays have arrived!
That Cherry Cowrie is really something. So beautiful. The Wandering Cowrie is also very beautiful. Today you are the Cowrie Queen! My fav is that Cherry though! Very special!
G'day Green Thumb Gardener 👋🏻☘️❤️ I felt like Cowrie royalty this time 😂 the Cherry Cowrie was a nice find, but oof, I wish that Wandering Cowrie wasn't a stinker 🤣 Thank you so much for watching 🥰
Hello 👋🏼 Maddie! Just am so far behind with your videos, lol 😆 The 12:12 Donkey is a favorite today. Really gem shell.. The Yellow Toothed Cowries are on fire today! So many nice looking ones.. Wow! What a pretty Lynx Cowry 😍 Love the spots! 😂 I think you startled Mr. Crabs in the Shouldered Triton.. 😆 Very nice Cat Cowry 🤩 The Gaudy Dog Welk is another favorite..Adorable little shell. Thank you for the fun hunt my friend!!! TTFN 👋🏼 ❤
G'day Mimi 👋🏻💖 Oh my goodness, you can never be "far behind" here; just enjoy them at your own pace 😉 I'm glad that you did like the adventure though, there were so many cowries to pick and choose from!! The Donkey does deserve to be a favourite 🦓 it's just too cute! Same with the Lynx and Cat Cowries...gosh, they're either named after animals or food, aren't they?? Haha, those Shouldered Triton; it was all I could do to not drop or throw it away in surprise 🤣😅 the crab sure has a nice home 🦀 Thank you so much for watching 🥰
Pancakes, coffee and Maddie's video, best way to start my day off. Beautiful cowries today Maddie, i would really recommend a minis video, or shell pile video, just to see how many different species you find. As always i enjoyed your adventure, keep up the great work.
G'day Jeff 👋🏻☕ Whaaaaat, pancakes as well?? Lucky man! As, this is a minis video!! I haven't seen a proper shell pile since last year I think, but this is a minis video 😂 I just spoiled you guys by making it extra long with some rock pool shells too; I don't usually get lucky with rock pools and wracklines together; it's usually one or the other 😲 but also, there will be more minis next time too, and I won't have so much luck with the rock pools 😅 I'm glad you enjoy them so much 😁 Thanks again for always joining me if these adventures 🥰
G'day Leslie 👋🏻🏖️ It's not every day that I can show new shells... I think I've found a lot of what I can find from these beach 😂 so much shelling to gather hundreds of different species! The big Lynx Cowrie is a really fun find too 😁 Thank you so much for watching 🥰
G'day Donna 👋🏻💖 It was a cute little handful!! Did you know that "Wentletrap" is the Dutch word for "spiral staircase"? It certainly suits them 😄 Thanks for watching 🥰
Hello there Maddie! The wandering cowrie was lovely, oh no a stinky cowrie, did you take that home?😷😂Flask shell very pretty. Very nice music cone, posing as a cornetto! Yes hermit crabs do have expensive taste and always pinch the best shells. Love that eroded cowrie. I especially like the spotted parts. Yes, the lynx cowrie beautiful! We are still getting the odd nice day but temps are dropping at night time now and it’s a bit cooler. I did see a small lizard just outside the house last week. Quite a rare sighting here. It was small and perfect and enjoying the sun before it heard my dog coming and then it ran off- lovely to see! I hope the spring days there are warm for your shell hunting. ❤xxxxxx
G'day Alison 👋🏻💖 Ahhhh actually no, I decided to leave mister stinky behind - even though he was so lovely looking, I think I might have passed out from the stench on the drive home!! Oh wow, you are the second person to mention that flask shell... I find them sometimes, but I mostly chose to cut them out of the videos because I didn't remember the name until recently, and I thought they might seem unimpressive? My bad! Those hermit crabs, or my gosh, I saw two at the beach today with very unusual and enviable shell homes; they really, REALLY do have expensive taste! I mean, I would too if I lived at the beach every day!! Ooof, the cold days are coming to stay. Alison, I think it might be time for you and the doggo to vacation somewhere warm 😂 or you know, bust out the throw blankets and get that radiator running! Give your doge plenty of pats from me 🥰 Thanks for watching!
I had mentioned last video that it’s lovely to see you find such wonderful cowries!… rings even more true in this video! The “gleaming and shiny” yellow toothed cowries were amazing as well as the donkey, unusual clandestine, cherry and cat cowries as well. I think my favorites for the day are the sundial and fraudulent moon snail as they aren’t your usual finds. Thanks for the adventure!
G'day Abigail 👋🏻🐚 I think I'm quite spoiled at this beach... You need to find a very fresh shell for it to be gleamy and shiny, and not every beach has lots of freshly emptied cowries like this one 😲 So many standouts this time, especially with the red cherry 🍒 Love your picks for the favorites; the Sundial and Fraudulent Moon Snail really are unusual finds for here 🤩 Thank you so much for watching the big adventure 🥰
Hello Maddie 👋🌊 I really like the lynx cowrie and the sputnik sea urchin spine. My fav shells of the day though are the donkey cowrie, the snakehead cowrie, and the two shiny yellow tooth cowries. Special mention to the sneaky hermit crab that startled you and me both, haha.
G'day Oceanluvn Gal 👋🏻🏝️💖 That Lynx Cowrie is very eye-catching isn't it!! Oh, but the sea urchin spine as well, I think you are the only person to mention it; it's quite interesting as well! I love your picks for the favourites: such a nice Snakehead and Yellow toothed Cowries, and that Donkey should have gotten more love from me than I showed it... it had you to appreciate it, thank goodness 😂 Heheh, thank you so much for watching 🥰
G'day Natalia 👋🏻🐚❤️ Yesss that Music Cone is very cool with those elongated spiral! The little Donkey Cowrie is adorable too, I think it might have gotten overlooked at the end, but it's definitely worth being a favourite this time 🤩 Thank you so much for watching 🥰
Loved all the wentletraps! I have only 1 lol. I’ve like to shell for more. Wow all the cowries were amazing. That I think that cherry at the beginning with the purplish base (at least that’s how it looked on my TV) was so pretty. That Lyns! SWEET! Cat was beautiful. The sundial was SO pretty with that b/w! I understand your comment about taking empty shells in response to people saying you should leave them-I’m honestly sick of the few that comments on my videos about that. There are no shortage of shells and human kind has been shelling for ALL time! It’s engrained in humanity since ancient history! They even used shells for money and taking live shells wasn’t even a question back them-they just did it. Researching my video about royal purple dye it took thousands of murex shells just to make a tiny bit of dye…I was reading where it took over 10 thousand shells!! And that was only for purple dye imagine all the other ancient uses they used shells for! Moving to today…after a storm thousands of “empty” shells are washed up!! THERE ARE SHELLS FOR THE CRABS PEOPLE!!!! The issue is crabs are choosing TRASH b/c in some parts of the world there is so much trash they choose the lighter homes (bottle caps etc)….anyways, rant over lol but I’m about sick of those comments. And with dreading like here in Florida, millions of shells are piled up EMPTY after the sand sorting and are used for under foundations of homes in Florida. But oh no, it’s us the little shellers ruining the world-yeah, sure! 🙄 Since January that I’ve been putting content out I’ve deleted about 7 comments and banded 2 users.
G'day Roxann!! You'll find more, don't you worry ;) I think it's hard for you Florida folks to go about looking for the minis when you have all of those amazing macroshells to find... who's going to scrutinize specs on the sand when you can walk up to a huge lightning whelk instead? Ohhh yes, it is a cherry cowrie in this video and yes; it does have purple teeth - some cowries have bright colours in their teeth! Hahaha, rant away!! I want to give some of my thoughts about it all too, so be prepared for a return rant. I have also received comments about that; they think that the hermit crabs own every shell on the beach. That's like saying that one flock of butterflies owns an entire forest, or one gaggle of geese owns an entire lake. There is plenty to go around for everyone but these people, if you'll excuse me, get a bug up their butts about it; like they're suddenly very concerned for this very niche animal in the environment. Do they not realise that driving a car is worse for the crabs (nature in general) than collecting a few shells? Or that the roads, homes, and businesses they use have cleared environmental land so that humans can thrive? Will they abandon their modern lives and return to be hunter/gathers... oh wait, that's harming animals too isn't it XD but who knows, are they also going to give back the air they breathe? Heck no, but yet they suddenly are so very, very concerned about some empty shells that a crab may or may not use as a home. Just accept these comments into your eyeballs, and then move the fingers to the touch screen to tap tap block them. Ohhh for the crabs with the trash homes; it was a bit of a boiling pot that splashed over onto us. I also got 2 or 3 comments about that too. It all happened when a viral video on that big animal channel (The Dodo) spread awareness about this issue with only one view of the topic (that it was a terrible problem). I believe it was only at one beach in Japan, and there was no conclusive research as to why the crabs were choosing plastic instead of shells, but like you; I suspect that the colours, textures, and lightness of the plastic material where what interested the crabs. But since then, people watch this video, are biased by it, and are then recommended our channels due to the similarity in content... they see us collecting shells and feel the need to get preachy about it. They have not done any research into the beaches were live at, or the crab populations, or any kind of shell numbers or ecological data, but they feel like they know everything they need to know to yuck on our yum, so to speak. Most of the time, these people have strong opinions that aren't worth reasoning with (some are more polite, so I reply to them) but there are some that I will happily hide from the channel. And that's fine; everyone has their own opinions whether they are right or wrong. I will say though: 99.99% of the people and comments that I get are so supporting or positive or interested in shelling, and they make everything worthwhile. I was honestly expecting a lot of negativity when I started because, you know, it's the internet, but I've been very pleasantly surprised. Also, I remember your stories about the shells being used in housing foundations; that's really wild to me! You guys really have to many shells to be able to do that! Ohhh and yes, the royal purple dye; I watched a TH-cam channel's documentary about that a few months ago after first hearing this story from another shell collector. It was something like "why is it so expensive?" or something like that, maybe you also watched it. It was about a man in Morocco (I think) who had a passion for recreating the lost art of making this purple dye. Fascinating, and the man's practices were as sustainable as possible, and with none of the snail going to waste. Yet he copped a lot of hate for it, poor man. I'm too nice to end a snail's life, but that's just me living a very easy and privileged life in a first world country; I understand that these creatures are a vital resource and/or food source to many cultures. As you say, humans have collected shells for decorations, food, and tools since ancient times; it is natural for us.But it is truly the very privileged and modern folks that can have such big concerns over small matters while living at the expense of the environment they claim to defend. But that's people for you. Again, most of the ones that I've seen here are lovely though; yourself included. Thanks for watching, and listening to my even longer rant!!
G'day Bree 👋🏻🌊 That's one big date! Actually, if the Cherry Cowrie is extremely dark, some people will call them a strawberry 🍓 cowrie 😂 Thanks again for watching 🥰
G'day Trudy 👋🏻💖 The Lynx Cowrie is wonderful this time; so large with a golden colour. I think I will spend some time to shine the full side with high-grit wet sand paper...should look good! Thank you so much for watching 🥰
G'day Jan 👋🏻💖 The minis shells are so loveable: so intricate! It's nice that I can find them so fresh from here, their patterns and textures are still intact. I love these mid moon tides that bring the minis ashore 🌊 Thank you so much for watching the big microshelling adventure 🥰
G’day Joyce 👋🏻🏖️ This was a really wonderful trip for the glossy, nice-quality cowries 🤩 Ahh, they are worth favourites, but does one species stand out more to you here? I’m curious, though in your shoes I don’t think I could pick just one either 😂 Thank you so much for watching 🥰
G'day Hurriyet 👋🏻🏖️ Yessss cowries are the best ❤️🤩😉 I wish you were here...but I suddenly wonder, have you been finding anything interesting in Turkiye? I can't remember now if you live near the coast or not. I hope you've had a few fun shelling adventures as well 🐚🐚🐚 Thank you so much for watching 🥰
@@SandCoffeeRocks Hi maddie😍l live near the coast.Antalya is so beautiful touristic city in Türkiye. There is a lot of beaches but arts of shells is less than your country. We have a few arts of cowries.byeee maddie🥰🥰🥰
G'day Lori 👋🏻🐚 I was incredibly lucky this time, I don't usually find so many glossy cowries in one day. So beautiful 🤩 Thank you so much for watching the big adventure 🥰
G’day Famz 👋🏻🐚 Ohhh you’re coming up 🤩 I think you’ll have a wonderful time!! Be persistent and take your time, sometimes the shells really like to hide. Thanks for watching 🥰
G'day Denise 👋🏻💖 Ohhh that Lynx Cowrie is an eye catcher!! I wonder if it's the only cowries with red on the teeth? Cherries are purple, and other species also have coloured teeth, but I suddenly can't remember if any others are red 🤔 I digress 😂 Thank you so much for taking the time to watch the extra long adventure 🥰
@@SandCoffeeRocks wow Maddie! I was having a really glum day when I got your response, you brightened my day! Thanks for taking us along with you on your shelling adventures. Thank you for all the information you give. I always wonder about the purple bits and I'm wondering about that white frilly stuff too:)
G'day Nature Beauty 👋🏻🏖️ My goodness, hello to you in India! Do you live near the coast too? I think the Indian Ocean also has a plethora of amazing shells 🐚 Thank you so much for watching 🥰 and I hope you have your own amazing shelling adventures over there in India 🌏
G’day Tammie 👋🏻🏝️ That’s a good idea…but also, do pills still come in bottles? They’re all boxes and blister packets here these days 🤔 but no worries, I have plenty of dollar store craft jars for shells 🐚 a lot of the minis that I collect go into them eventually! Thank you so much for watching 🥰
G'day Sylvia 👋🏻🐚 I'm glad to be able to show you some new things 🤩 there are so many different kinds of shells around the world; especially here in Queensland, Australia 🦘🌏 Thanks for watching 🥰
Oh my goodess Edrie, that kind of shell is that 😲? I think it's, hmmm, maybe a sweet swirly seashell with two colours... maybe orange and white? What do you think 😁?
Hi Maddie I’m loving watching your channel and would love if you can point me in the right direction for a good place to look for checkered bonets. I’m from WA but currently traveling the QLD coast.
G’day Jane 👋🏻🐚 Hello to you visiting Queensland! Hmmm I’m not sure to be honest; as you can see from my videos, I find some intact Checkerboard Bonnets, but never a tonne… you can always try visiting my beach (location in videos data), but also, do you have a 4WD? If you do, that opens up some possibilities. I’ve heard that Double Island point has bonnets, but it’s a long drive out over the sand so 4WD is the only option. I can try to think of more spots 🤔 also, have you found any good spots in Queensland to recommend for collecting shells? Would love to extend my range 😁 Thank you so much for watching 🥰
No worries, I hope you have a safe and happy trip 🏖 I’m a bit surprised that you haven’t found any good beaches up there; Port Douglas in particular is known for its shells, and it’s only a bit further north from Cairns. Maybe Bowen or areas north of Mackay. Don’t forget Yeppoon too. Not sure if any of them are specify good for Checkerboard Bonnets though, but there are shells of various types to find. I think, like everywhere in Australia, that there pocket of places with shells on the shore, while other areas may have very little. Keep searching for the shelly beaches!
@@janedavidson8348 Try Kinka Beach ;) I didn't get to try many beaches while I was up there on one weekend, but the playlist is here: th-cam.com/play/PLXOZDMn4qoJTmLMNeRra2V7jP0dgY7Pdv.html Please let me know what other beaches you try and what you find there; I'd really appreciate it for planning my next trip up there.
That cherry cowrie looks just like a date ….great finds again
G'day Bree 👋🏻🌊 That's one big date! Actually, if the Cherry Cowrie is extremely dark, some people will call them a strawberry 🍓 cowrie 😂 Thanks again for watching 🥰
Love the cowries, wentletraps and cines.
G'day Di 👋🏻🏖️ Hehe, I think you picked the best shell families from the bunch 😁 Thank you so much for watching 🥰
Hello Maddie, Favorite is the Lynx Cowrie love it. Also saw some new ones. Thanks. Take care. TRUDY
G'day Trudy 👋🏻💖 The Lynx Cowrie is wonderful this time; so large with a golden colour. I think I will spend some time to shine the full side with high-grit wet sand paper...should look good! Thank you so much for watching 🥰
I love the mini shells. They always amaze me how perfect they are! 😊
Cowries are my favorite.
Amazing shells 🐚 😍. Congratulations Maddie .

This makes me so excited for my trip up that way in November :D
G’day Famz 👋🏻🐚 Ohhh you’re coming up 🤩 I think you’ll have a wonderful time!! Be persistent and take your time, sometimes the shells really like to hide. Thanks for watching 🥰
My favorite shell today is the lynx cowrie, I also liked the oyster shell. All the others are pretty special too.
I am from India. Nice sea shell and cowries ❤👍👍
I keep a old Tylenol bottle with my shell bag to put minis in 🐚 Love those littles
Nice beautiful shells

Hello Edrie 👋🏻🏖️ Awww you are so sweet!! Thank you so much for watching so many shelling episodes, I hope you really enjoyed these beach adventures 🥰
Where are you shelling from? Many of your shells I’ve never seen before. I use to love shelling Enjoy your videos!
G'day Sylvia 👋🏻🐚 I'm glad to be able to show you some new things 🤩 there are so many different kinds of shells around the world; especially here in Queensland, Australia 🦘🌏 Thanks for watching 🥰
Arthroon Selevath-Two Toned Acastri
(Acepaya Alemotoma)
@@SandCoffeeRocks thank you for replying. No good beaches so far. Heading south down the coast from cairns. Will update you if I find a good spot :)
@@SandCoffeeRocks do you have a recommendation for where to shell while in Yeppoon? :)
Thanks!
