Never ever should you clean electronics with water!! Corrosion will destroy the contacts of the cartridge. Isopropyl rubbing alcohol is recommended to clean them. When the contacts are clean, a functioning Game Boy should be able to play the game just fine.

gameboy pocket was my first gameboy!! I got the gold donkey kong pack one. still in my cardboard.
