  • BPI increased their trust fees this 2024! In some cases, they have doubled these per annum trust fees. Painfully, they are doing this across the board from their BPI-ALFM Mutual Funds to BPI Wealth UITFs. While there are literally dozens of alternatives out there with many mutual funds and UITF's being offered by banks and investment companies, I will be zoning in on the alternatives for my favorite UITF from BPI, the BPI US Equity Index Feeder Fund. I've talked about this in many of my previous videos and how most of my investment money has gone into this fund. But with BPI's doubling its trust fees from 0.75% to 1.5%, I am thinking about where I can move them. I've come across worthy alternatives from BDO, EastWest Bank, and Metrobank --- all of which also offer UITFs that are also tracking that S&P 500. Will I be moving my money here? Watch this video to understand the pros and cons of these other S&P 500 UITFs.

    I like the BPI US equity feeder peso class. Nakakainis yung laki ng trust fee pero malaking bagay yung peso lang sya no need to exchange to usd tska maliit each top up pwede. Malaking bagay for me na hindi naman ganung malaki mag top up monthly..

      Most convenient talaga investing via Peso Class. I wish meron na nito when I got started a few years ago. Anyway may benefit din yung Dollar Class na pwede mag appreciate.

    Hi! I'm a bit new to UITFs and currently have one in BPI. How are trust fees deducted? is it deducted on a year basis like makikita ko ba sya on my history in the app that fees have been deducted? Thank you for answering :)

      The reflected NAVPU would already be net of the fees ☺️

    Informative videos as usual Mark... Thank you. You mentioned Metrobank and EastWest tracking iShares Core S&P 500 UCITS ETF. I looked it up and their expense ratio is "ETF's TER (total expense ratio) amounts to 0.07% p.a" Now that is very, very low compared to our lowest of .50% here in the Philippines. Having said that, can you comment on why there is a huge disparity. I believe the difference in percentage fee will be huge over 20 years of constantly investing. Perhaps there's an explanation that can hopefully help me make sense of it all. Thanks again.

      BDO too. No doubt that ETF's would have lesser expenses. If you have the means to invest in them through tried and tested brokerages abroad or don't mind investing in them via new apps/online platforms, then by all means. UITF feeder funds are anyway proxies to these ETFs. I won't claim to deeply know about ETFs (except for the basics) so I won't go much into comparing them and UITFs. What most of us have reliable access to here in the PH are UITFs, so until we can really vouch for ETF's after testing the new platforms over a long period of time, UITFs are what I can safely recommend.

      @@ZiggingbyMarkSigg You are absolutely right... I made the mistake of comparing UITF and ETF per annum fees. They are different investment products which I incorrectly assumed to be similar. I don't know enough either to know the difference between the two. Perhaps a future video request from you about this since you have a great way of explaining things that many of us understand. Yes, it is very frustrating for BPI to double their fees to 1.50% and I thank you for showing us these alternatives so we have choices. I just hope that these other banks won't take this as a cue to increase their own fees. Cheers man! Very appreciative of your work.

      Thanks! I went into my vault and actually found video from 2 years ago that might be a good primer on ETF / UITFs+ investing. I almost forgot about this 🤣 nothing too exhaustive but practical tips on these 2 similar investments. And some of the fees/charges may no longer hold true but for the most part, I think still useful hehe th-cam.com/video/p2Ib98e4J0Q/w-d-xo.html

      Yes of course, would be buying at the recent navpu and starting from scratch. To be clear, I'm moving all future investments. The current ones staying put until I redeem them

      basically makukuha naman nya at present value ung investment, so kasama ung compounded amounts, di naman naka lock in ung gains like sa retirement funds/bonds na may lockin periods, kaya pag nag start sya sa iba, compounded padin un, mag incur lang ng expenses for tax on gain or loss if ever i declare nya since may gain sya due to appreciation. final tax are already been deducted din by the bank upon receipt so wala nang aalalahanin don.
      in summary, average buy nya will most likely be his initial position kung same fund bibilin nya and different bank lang. assuming same exit and entry amount

    Sir do you also invest in BPI US Equity Index Feeder Fund Class P? (Peso) And what is your recommendation it is ok to invest in class A or class P? Thanks

    • @ZiggingbyMarkSigg
      @ZiggingbyMarkSigg  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've only invested in Class A since I invested years ago before there was the option for Class P 🤔 I inquired about investing in Class P but it seems that I'll have to sell my position and close my USD investments to do this. Investing in Class P seems easier not having to open a USD savings account etc. But Class A has the added perk of possibly earning through forex too. There are pros and cons
