I hope that RDR3 is LOOONG. You could run through the backstory of Arthur with Mary, join Duuutch, Annabelle, Hosea, Bessy, they could make up some more scores, you could recruit John, Bill, Javier, etc. and all the women. Last mission: Blackwater Massacre
Epilogue: You could play as John that one year he was away or they could make it so that Mac really did get away and that Milton was just trying to intimidate Arthur, so you could play as Mac for that and/or free roam.
Hope it will come 10 years or later, rockstsr is also working on gta 6 and we don't want to exhaust them
If the last mission was the black water massacre then it would take us into the beginning on rdr2 where they are on the mountain so that couldn’t work (unless the epilogue is where we play as someone other than Arthur that may have left the gang before the black water massacre

I always thought the character Mac that was mentioned could be more explored in a future game and like you said have the last mission be the Blackwater massacre where he inevitably is mentioned to have died during and we then play as Arthur for the epilogue or something. I say Mac because it also mentioned that he seemed to have a strong relationship with Arthur and Jack and every RDR protagonist has had a strong relationship with Jack.
It will either start in 1911 as Jack, or go back to 1890 as Hosea and show how they started the Van der Linde gang, show them recruiting everybody though the years and then end with Blackwater Massacre. The Epilogue will be a pre RDR2 Arthur
Probably a prequel, because Jack was in war at this time, so it would make no sense to rdr premise

Nah. Their story has been told. Time to start new story with new characters. Main protagonist could be just getting out of the civil war and heading out west for adventure and wealth. Because anything after rd2 timeline isn't the real wild west.

2 trumps 1 in my opinion. I grew up playing 1 but when I played 2, 1 just seemed ancient. It needs a remaster desperately, I loved it.

Rdr2 started devolopment decently soon after rdr came out. So either it's started or it starts once GTA6, possible the biggest hype uped release ever, comes out.
It took 6-8 years to develop 2, 3 would probably take close to ten. so maybe we get a trailer by 2030
Rdr2 was profitable but considering it made 1.38 billion in its first year and gta v made 1 billion after 3 days rdr2 is not nearly profitable enough for them to consider making a third so soon after gta 6.

Everyone says this, or even farther in the past, but then when do you end it? The only other breaking off point is the blackwater massacre, the failed job, but the epilogue for that would just be Red Dead 2.

what could happen is that Arthur could have been in a coma and the tuberculosis could have just been in his dream but the Van Der Linde Gang is still real.
Simply we need an even further prequel: Dutch's gang from the early beginning to the disaster of blackwater. We could see Arthur's family and early life as a boy and there could be 3 playable characters: Dutch, Hosea and Arthur! Imo this would be awesome and it would end the red dead circle

I heard rumors of a long storied remaster of rdr1, so playing as Arthur might be out of the window unless I’m wrong and rdr3 ends ups being the prelude to rdr2 story wise and then you play as younger Arthur, maybe then you can change enough to be married to mary and get some happiness instead of this constant depression and feeling of always missing people and the past in rdr2

I'd like to see RDR1 remastered in RDR2's engine before that happens.
RDR1 uses a old version of it, basic the same of GTA IV.
In RDR2 the engine improve a lot.
I think RDR3 will be with new main character and new story.

For all I love the Van der Linde gang I hope that RDR3 takes a different aproach and have us play as either a different gang, a bounty hunter group or whatever and have the Van der Linde gang play a side role in the story while still catching glimpses of the characters we've come to know and love

@@ReynzWatashi I do hear that depending on where your shot and from what your shot by, don’t won’t instantly die, but yeah I do notice how more tanky enemies are in rdr2. You can shoot someone in the chest leaving them a giant ass bullet wound in their chest, and they will still be able to move like normal.
In rdr1 enemies will walk in an injured state from body blows, and leg blows, or if you shoot them in both knees, they just won’t be able to walk, so it evens out any tankiness, so I’d hope rdr3 goes this fun route instead.

rdr3 will have one who died before rdr2 and arthur after the death as protagonist.
Bad idea tbh, it's better to focus the character writing to one so that the player can immerse themselves rather than create 3 playable characters since it will ruin immersion. Unless each chapter is very very very very long, and then again very long chapters are a bad idea since players will quickly get tired of the game.

Rdr3: you play as a new outlaw that befriends Arthur and at the end you die and play as Arthur in the epilogue. Change my mind
Arthur didn't make friends outside of the gang really, especially not with other outlaws. They were competition, you see how every other gang treated one another. Arthur would shoot another outlaw dead especially before the events of RDR2. It's a pretty thought, but the most likely outcome is an entirely new cast of characters, farther back in time, in a different part of the world.
