@@rock_gymnast89emma61 you didn’t catch how possessive and controlling he is? he is definitely not the sweetest boyfriend, rory constantly has to tip toe around him in hopes he doesn’t get angry at her
And she succeeds to get worse. She cheated on Dean because of Jess, then she doesn't break up with him and gets angry because Jess has a (kind of) girlfriend. Later on she travels to see Jess and kisses him because Logan cheated on her. And it isn't over: Logan proposes, she doesn't say yes and ends up being the other woman again, since she slept with Dean when he was still married. Something was not right with this girl. :/
Honestly Rory didn't really do anything wrong. She didn't want Jess to stay and Jess refused to leave so she asked Paris to stay so that she wouldn't be alone with Jess because she knew Dean wouldn't like that... Honestly I've been both Team Logan and Team Jess but Dean just always irritated me.. He was way too insecure and short tempered and didn't even let Rory explain before yelling at her.. Dean wasn't ready for a proper relationship tbh
Dean has a right to be mad. Maybe not this aggressively, but by all means he should be upset. Rory lied to him, Jess has done some bad things to Dean to make them on bad terms, plus it was obvious to Dean by now that Rory and Jess had a little spark. He totally was right to be upset, and at the end of the day all his suspicions turned out to be right. And if the roles were switched, we would all be saying that Rory has a right to be upset if Dean did the things she's doing to him.
Dean was possessive and jealous before Jess came into the picture. He was jealous over Harvard (Rory dedicating time to extracurricular activities instead of hanging out with him all the time), and Tristian despite nothing going on. Dean had trust issues and rarely let Rory explain herself even when there really wasn’t anything going on. He drove her away.
At this point I disagree with majority of the comments. Dean knows something was up. He could feel it. Knowing what isn’t being said. And getting frustrated that everyone is eluding to no reason to be concerned. His heart knew. My heart broke for him here! And Rory was being so naive concerning Jess for a long time. And should have stayed away from Jess for Deans sake. But she liked Jess and couldn’t help it. Sad but that’s the way it went..😕 Poor Dean...
Thank you! Everyone says Dean is possessive and controlling, but the truth is Dean realized Rory was falling for Jess. Anyone would react the way he was if their boyfriend/girlfriend was lying to them and emotionally cheating. Dean isn't a bad guy, just heartbroken.
I’ve always thought Dean was kind of jealous, controlling, and possessive. I get why he’s upset about Jess liking Rory, but he could be nicer about it, and he doesn’t need to blame Rory for it.
just because there may have been a little something between jess and rory doesn’t give dean the right to lash out at her CONSTANTLY, yes rory and jess did obviously end up having romantic feelings for each other (starting while she and dean were together) but that dosent make the relationship between dean and rory any less toxic and emotionally abusive
Dean just seemed way too jealous & possessive of Rory. Also, seemed to be a bit controlling. Not any guy I'd want my own daughter dating. Strange to me how Lorelai didn't catch on to this and or have issue with this.
she didnt lie to dean, she didnt know he was coming over or that he was intending to stay she asked him to leave but she also isnt rude so she didnt want to be mean. we see she did want to be alone because she was kicking paris out. he was yelling and wouldnt let her explain, he was getting worked up over nothing its just dinner and they werent even talking he was talking to Paris. he shouldnt have yelled like that when she was trying to explain
Lourei liked dean even though he was completely abusive and toxic and hated logan even though he was very polite and a gentleman, every fight they have he was right, be had mistakes but he never screamed or scared rory like dean
i’m so annoyed that dean didn’t give rory the benefit of the doubt. rory was being truthful abt not planning for paris and jess to come and although she let them stay, she prob would’ve done the same for dean if jess and paris werent there. and i hate how he automatically blamed rory and started yelling at her before she even got to explain herself.
this comment is two years old but idc. yeah rory didn't plan on inviting jess or paris to hang out with her, but she still let them stay in the end. and she was not being truthful, she literally goes along with paris's lie and when dean asks rory if thats true, she says it is. she lies to him about the situation.

Poor Dean... All those people liking Jess for getting between them just justify cheating. Rory was naive, but Jess knew what he was doing. So did Dean. Boys aren't blind to other boys trying to steal their girls, especially when it's this blatant. Dean had a right to be angry and hurt. Jess and Rory had great chemistry, but Rory should have put a stop to his behavior by telling him they could be friends, but that he needed to stop forcing himself on her and respect her relationship with her boyfriend.
Rory wasn't naive! She liked him from day one when he put the notes in her book! When Jess pulled that prank she didn't even introduce Dean as her boyfriend, after that she was eyeing him after he fixed the toaster later at the diner, she was eyeing him after the sleigh ride incident, after he bid on her basket she turned it into a full fledged date they went to get pizza, and went to the book store, later that night she called him on the phone to flirt, and talk to him, she was really pressing for him, and Lorelai to get along, she wanted him to stay when he brought the food at the end when he asks if she really wanted him to leave she says she really wants to avoid a fight with Dean, and here she is again flirting with Jess through the window! She is not naive she knew he liked her, she led him on, she liked him, and the attention he was giving her, she was just too scared to break up with Dean because it would change her "perfectly" planned out life! She was falling for Jess the whole time, but was stringing Dean along! I love Jess though I'm team Jess, but Rory was not naive she was into Jess the whole time!
@@tobytheshih-tzu6329 Yep. I am Team Jess (as of now, only in S3) because of the connection Rory and Jess have and they are more compatible than her and Dean. Rory and Jess were both wrong for how they hurt Dean in the process though.
@@tobytheshih-tzu6329 This comment is gold! Everyone likes to pretend that Rory is so innocent and that her relationship/connection with Jess was spontaneous. They like to paint Dean as this overdramatic possessive boyfriend. The truth is, Rory and Jess were emotionally cheating on Dean which later lead to a physical connection. Everyone could see Rory was falling for Jess while with Dean even her mother told her. Poor Dean noticed too and that's why he acted the way he was. He was only attempting to keep her. Rory and Jess both did something wrong. Rory involving herself with another guy behind her boyfriend's back and Jess deliberately going after another guy's girl and bullying him.
I don't condone Rory's omission and I understand why Dean is suspicious; HOWEVER, the behaviors that Dean portrays are really troubling. While watching these scenes and knowing how the future of the show unfolds, it makes me think about the way he and Lindsay fought and that whole mess.
Lol "Rory wouldn't lie" they say staring at her, her mother in blissful illusion and Dean in knowing Denial. I think Jess was the kick start of Rory growing into an adult and you see some of her worst attributes emerging, cold-hearted hesitation, entitlement, selfishness. I think that Dean is over the top and scary in the way he screams and gets violent, but I also think he knew deep down they were not compatible and in his mind Rory deserved "better" at least intellectually, so he believed she was going to leave him and all his anger and frustration took the form of Jess and he kinda lost it. And Rory strung him along for so long too, it could be because she was young and confused but the way she evolved later makes you think it was her just growing into her adult persona.
Dean is always up in her business. If she wants to be alone then let her be alone. And he is SO controlling literally Paris was there too!! And the fact that he can’t just trust Rory like yeah you can not trust Jess whatever but not to trust your girlfriend? That’s just messed up. And he always yells at her for no reason he is so rude. He could have handled the situation way better than he did. He is so disrespectful. There is so much more I could say.
M e and he thought she was. And she wasn’t doing anything wrong. But she knew if he knew jess was there he would get mad. Yet she wouldn’t be doing anything wrong. Also they came unannounced.

Ok, I understand that Dean was jelaous, but He went way too far and He was so toxic, He was always controlling Rory and He always made Rory stressed and at 1 point I was just fed up with him. I think Rory and Jess were the best couple, only that Jess had self-esteem issues, being the reason of making him impossible to be loved, but once he grew up he grew to be an ideal partner of Rory. I wish Rory chose him over Logan.

Plus, i dont think she would have invited Dean anyways because *she didn't really want him there* nothing bad in that, she did tell him that they would hang for the entire day after. Dean needs a chill pill.
Dean is also a teenager like Rory but people give him so much shit which I don’t get. 1. If the cards were reversed people would hate on Dean for doing something like this to Rory. 2.He was her bf and really cared about her and thought she was doing laundry the entire day so he wanted to do something nice for her and spend a little time with her. Rory lied to him on the phone when she didn’t tell him about Jess and he got mad because he didn’t expect for him to be there and also for his gf to lie to him. She lied to him multiple times in that scene alone and if Dean would’ve done that you guys would’ve torn him to shreds. 3.For those of you saying Jess liked Paris unlike Dean, Remember that Dean met Paris under totally different circumstances. She hated Rory and was talking shit about her when he first met her so he didn’t like the girl who hated his gf but Jess met Paris when she was Rory’s friend(ish). Dean had his opinions about Paris but was okay with her being there and didn’t necessarily hate her. 4.For those of you talking about Dean’s trust issues let me remind you that the next day when Rory is flirting with Jess (even if she doesn’t realise it)at Luke’s diner Dean is just standing outside and watching them but he still believes that Rory would never lie to him so he doesn’t go in because he trusts her and he did till the very end. He trusted her until the 24hr marathon thing where you can clearly see that Rory has a thing for Jess but doesn’t wanna admit it or break up with Dean so he gets frustrated and breaks things off. Also Rory did cheat on Dean and didn’t tell him so was he ever wrong🤷🏻♀️ 5. For those of you saying ‘jealousy isn’t attractive Dean’ if Rory was in Dean’s place she probably would’ve reacted the same way. Remember when she met Bobby(who was Logan’s colleague)for the first time and got so jealous and it was her first time meeting her. Dean already knew that Jess had feelings for Rory because of which he got jealous. The only thing he did wrong was yell at Rory but Rory wasn’t perfect and he wasn’t as well. Ok that’s my rant.
@22 Jess is better in terms of the chemistry between him and Rory. They just fit together better than her and Dean, but I agree with OP too. Rory should’ve just been honest with Dean and ended their relationship. It wasn’t fair of her to drag Dean’s heart through the dirt like that.
Can we just acknowledge that poor Dean is outside watching his girlfriend flirt with another guy. :-D She may not know it, but that's what they were doing.

Look at how easy Jess got along with Paris, they all enjoyed having an intellectual and casual conversation together whereas Dean would of hated being there.
Jessica Sebastião your not wrong but even before Jess arrived he was such a baby. Like broke up with her for no saying I love you after only 3 months. Like it was her first relationship he could have cut her some slack and even if there was no Jess if she lost the bracelet he would have yelled and yelled and yelled. Just an opinion
no dean was always a bad guy, before jess arrive and after jess leave, he was always trying to find an excuse to treat rory like crap and yell at her
I am interested to to know what you think of loghan Jessica
I mean it wasn’t just Jess he was jealous with Tristan too, and Rory didn’t even like him. Dean had his protector possessive trait to begin with. But that’s my opinion I’m now team Rory after the revival 🤣🤣🤣
I think it's the other way round, Dean *is* a bad guy and Jess could sense that.
Their relationship is so toxic.
Dean is being so possessive, like Jess wasn’t even doing anything they were just eating food and having a good time, srsly Dean!?
He wasn't being possessive. Rory lied to him and made him feel like a fool. He was upset and had a right to be angry. I don't understand all you people saying he was being possessive because he cared for her. You've obviously never had a decent relationship where someone truly cared about you. When someone cares about you and you hurt them, what do you expect them to do? Just put a smile on their face and pretend like they're happy?

Man what a wonderfully intelligent and engaging conversation they were having... you know, until Dean showed up and ruined everything. 😂

Two people who sees Rory as this perfect little too-good-for-the-world seeing Rory with happily talking with a man who’ll actually show Rory that there’s more to the world than being everyone’s perfect little sunshine and would actually push her towards knowing her two potential.
Re-watching these clips and seeing how Lorelai and Dean have been with Rory made me appreciate this director’s parallel 🤷♀️
I LOVE IT
Dean can’t blame her for lying, he always overreacts when it comes to Jess
But like...he was right.
He was sensing the truth.
He should have gotten out gracefully or sat down to really talk to her.
He never overreacts. She is gaslighting him about her attraction towards jess, he wants to beleive her, but he can sense the opposite
I was looking forward to Paris and Jess banter
Scenes like this remind me of why Paris is my favourite GG character! I love her. Such a great friend.
And as much as I love Literati, seeing how much crap Rory put Jess through he and Paris would‘ve made a cute couple too, lol
I never liked dean..
what the heck! why not?? just because he’s nervous that rory and jess have something going on behind his back doesn’t mean he’s a bad kid. he is the sweetest boyfriend and he’s so protective of her and they are just the cutest couple. why don’t you like him?

I love how this episode ends. "Rory wouldn´t lie..."
Dean wasn't ready for a proper relationship tbh
idk how lorelai got so mad at jess over everything meanwhile she literally just glossed over how toxic and possessive dean was
When you see Rory and Jess in the very end scene ( 3:54 ) you can tell they are made for each other
Paris minding her own business
Dean : what the hell is going
Deans behavior in this scene is very disturbing.
She should’ve just broken up with him. He’s a mess.
She didn’t lie. They came over without her permission and she is Rory so she couldn’t say no.
He should've dumped her if he didn't trust her.
@@suripantx or, Rory should have dumped him if she can't be trusted. She was falling for someone else while having a boyfriend, not cool.

Dean was so sweet in season 1, but now he gets so annoying and nervous.
Nah he was way too possessive Dean is her boyfriend not her master Dean was even annoyed that she was hanging out with Paris
EXACTLY!!!!!!
@@jessiea893 I would rather say that Jess was selfish about breaking Rory's and Dean's relationship.
The fact that dean was so toxic at the end of their relationship is so bad. If he knew he should’ve just broken up with her earlier
just because there may have been a little something between jess and rory doesn’t give dean the right to lash out at her CONSTANTLY, yes rory and jess did obviously end up having romantic feelings for each other (starting while she and dean were together) but that dosent make the relationship between dean and rory any less toxic and emotionally abusive
Dean just seemed way too jealous & possessive of Rory. Also, seemed to be a bit controlling. Not any guy I'd want my own daughter dating. Strange to me how Lorelai didn't catch on to this and or have issue with this.
Paris looked so cute when she was eating and looked up at Dean entering the kitchen lol
3:59 Such an ironic scene. Lorelai says she wouldn't lie and yet there it is in front of them .... 😂😂
Let her talk, Dean! The fact Paris had to lie to shut him up defeats the whole point of honesty - which she was trying to explain.
she didnt lie to dean, she didnt know he was coming over or that he was intending to stay she asked him to leave but she also isnt rude so she didnt want to be mean. we see she did want to be alone because she was kicking paris out. he was yelling and wouldnt let her explain, he was getting worked up over nothing its just dinner and they werent even talking he was talking to Paris. he shouldnt have yelled like that when she was trying to explain

Lourei liked dean even though he was completely abusive and toxic and hated logan even though he was very polite and a gentleman, every fight they have he was right, be had mistakes but he never screamed or scared rory like dean
Idk about Dean, but I feel like Jess is a great friend for Rory and Logan is her true love.
paris and her little "hi" i love her
i’m so annoyed that dean didn’t give rory the benefit of the doubt. rory was being truthful abt not planning for paris and jess to come and although she let them stay, she prob would’ve done the same for dean if jess and paris werent there. and i hate how he automatically blamed rory and started yelling at her before she even got to explain herself.
Exactly!!
this comment is two years old but idc. yeah rory didn't plan on inviting jess or paris to hang out with her, but she still let them stay in the end. and she was not being truthful, she literally goes along with paris's lie and when dean asks rory if thats true, she says it is. she lies to him about the situation.
Dean’s yelling should not be “justified based on the circumstances” at all. Rory shouldn’t have let him speak to her like that.
bro jess was even trying to cover for her to dean 😢

Poor Dean... All those people liking Jess for getting between them just justify cheating. Rory was naive, but Jess knew what he was doing. So did Dean. Boys aren't blind to other boys trying to steal their girls, especially when it's this blatant. Dean had a right to be angry and hurt. Jess and Rory had great chemistry, but Rory should have put a stop to his behavior by telling him they could be friends, but that he needed to stop forcing himself on her and respect her relationship with her boyfriend.
lol she wasn't that naive. she was just to big of a coward to admit what was really going on with her and jess.
The biggest red flag of deans is how insecure he was about him and Rory’s relationship like 😅
Paris is an amazing friend no one can deny that
I don't condone Rory's omission and I understand why Dean is suspicious; HOWEVER, the behaviors that Dean portrays are really troubling. While watching these scenes and knowing how the future of the show unfolds, it makes me think about the way he and Lindsay fought and that whole mess.
Paris is such a sweet and good friend ❤️
dean made me so angry here. he's literally such a possessive weirdo. it's sad how scared she was around him
Lol "Rory wouldn't lie" they say staring at her, her mother in blissful illusion and Dean in knowing Denial.
Also they came unannounced.

i love luke, jess and paris! they are HILARIOUS
Some people are like ‘Rory’s so horrible’

exactly! everyone saying how Dean is so great conveniently tend to forget how emotionally abusive he is.
Also Rory did cheat on Dean and didn’t tell him so was he ever wrong🤷🏻♀️
