I’ve got one of these. The danger with them is that there’s no cut off if it kicks back on you (so it’s not legal for anyone else to use). That’s why it’s safer not to cut with the front end of the bar. When I adjust the chain I have to hold the end upwards while turning the nuts, so that the chain doesn’t become too tight.
Aup Big Texas, yeah it was to tight .. it worked a little better after just need new top end and bottom end bearings and seals. I’ve got a stihl 350 cut off saw that needs the same work 👍
I've got a 08s it's a great saw, but its a pain in the arse finding the right bars so its easier to just dril a hole, opposite on a new bar as it does the job.
@artschull Yes as a chain oiling hole. The oil tank is on the other side of the saw, unlike newer saws which have the fuel and oil tanks on the same side. Ifyou get a drill bit the same size as the existing hole on the guide bar and drill through the hole on the guide bar and keep going till you have gone through the other side of the guide bar. Both of the holes will then line up with the oiler on the saw.

*Chain was way too tight, any dunce can clearly see this.*

i have one for collection only..wont start been in the shed for years ! what is the petrol oil mix ? I forgot its beemn that long!

Yeah I did go full send on those nuts will be more careful next time too nice of an old saw to ruin 👍
