Nice informative video. My only nag is how did you get the circlip out of the shaft housing. I have just repaired a new clutch spring on this model and it took me more time to get this circlip out than the whole reassembly time. I did not have a long very thin pair of circlip pliers ( about £ 50 .00 a pair. ) so had to adapt to very thin long nose pliers, but it was a job to get it out and back in again. Limited size of the shaft and vision to see inside the circlip.

To be able to take out the coil since it is not giving any spark, do you have to remove the cylinder or is there a easier way? Got a spare with same year/number etc..

Doesn’t the metal choke rod go in that spring on the stop start leaver, I rebuilt a 550 xp and didn’t put the choke rod in between the spring on the stop start switch and the choke flap wasn’t fully open so it was restricting the air flow which made the air to fuel mixture of so this made it run like crap. Not sure if it was to do with the age of the saw as it was 10 years old

when you are remowing ghe flywheel i think its easier to hit on the screw but first screw the nut so it lines up with the thread of the scre and just use something to lever of the side and hit with hammer good video btw

Need help ...I bought an Husqvarna chain saw 326 the fellow who sold it to me started it and cut some wood and I bought it The day after I was using it and it went terrific for the first quarter of an hour then it didn't start anymore I though it was a carburettor problem and got one from China replaced it but didn't start . One thing that I could not understand why it so hard to start and I got a sow arm I said l may remove the cylinder off and see what is the problem ....The piston has a little scratch on the front the it has not damaged the ring ...Then I decided to test if there is any big gap in the ring and when I fitted it in the cylinder there is a millimetre gap --- plus or mine ---- the question a would like to ask you should I replace the ring and the piston ----there is no scratch in the cylinder . I forgot to mention that when I removed the plastic(?) from the cylinder and carb. that is shown 5.50---on this video---the part has 4 screws that are fitted to the cylinder ....when I removed it the gasket (?) that is glued to cylinder got a bit damaged only a little bit should by another one or use some gasket glue when put back ? ALSO for the first time I saw 2 piece of plastic inside of the cylinder probably this is the reason why the piston goes hard ??? Can be removed ? Thank you

What did you use to clean the saw

At 1:15 in, yep it'll run. I just used my gray one this past weekend. Its older than some of my coworkers and more dependable than some.

excellent video saved me a lot of time and more monye after gettinrg it back for a repair shop..It came back just as bad so followed your video and did it myself...repair shop failed to notice clutch was totaly gone ....I will be paying them a visit 😠 many thanks bud👍

i have 2 questions for you if you don't mind answering, 1) i have this saw and i have cleaned all the carb and it runs but for some reason when it's warm when you press the trigger it's like it wants to cut out so several quick presses and hold it runs full on do you no why it would do this ? 2) i have new bar and chain and i tighten like most show how to but the chain keeps coming loose is the a reason why if not how do i stop this happening thanks

I was given a 550XP that had ingested it's spark plug electrode when going full chat, thanks to this video I was able to disassemble it, and fit a replacement piston and ring, now it's back up and running again. Amazingly the bore was perfect, yet the piston was so badly shot it had lost compression (ring forced in and peened) Anyway, I'd like to thank you for putting this up, it really helped me out.

Why would you not leak test the crankcase to see why the first cylinder failed. I guess its job security when you end up putting another cylinder on because the seal's😮 leak.
