What an excellent, informative video Mick. Most of these beaches I know very well but those north of Fethiye have changed greatly since I visted 20 years ago, there were no facilities then, just trees and sand. I must admit I do like Kabak beach, it still retains the bohemian feel it had when we first stayed there.

Calis was our first beach in Turkey for our many stays 25 years ago and has to be our fav for a non sandy beach as has so much to offer with the many restaurants and bars 👌
I never knew about these beaches past fethiye Mick and have to say they are impressive 🫶
Olu Deniz is not the same as it was many years ago as so so busy now as we found out last year when we stayed in Sarigerme and took a drive !! We have stopped at many of the beaches past Olu Deniz on private boat tours and some are stunning with such clear water 🤩

Inspired by you, we visited Fethiye on a day trip from Rhodes last September. And through you we were also aware of Fethiye lacking beaches near the center.
Çalış beach seems like a natural place for us to visit. It is easily accessable, seems to have it all, and why go all the way to Sahara after sand.

Ive been traveling to turkey since i was 14 years of age , ive been to Istanbul, marmaris , icmeler , turunc , antalya , oludeniz , Fethiye, dalyan the list is endless , ive also travelled all the way from dalaman to batman by car stopping off in various towns along the way . One thing that i have found is that the further you get away from tourist spots the nicer the people seem to be . During the long car journey we picked up several turkish folk who were walking down extremely long roads , they didnt have thumbs out asking for a lift but it seems that its the norm just to stop and let strangers get in your car

@@mickandtrudie Thank you very much for your fast and kind answer. I have been on holiday in Calis in may 23 when the weather was not really inviting me to enjoy a day at beach ;-) but I intend to visit Fethiye more often.
Going here and there by dolmus was rather easy - jump on and find out where it takes you - so maybe a map with the starting points - if there are more than the mosque at the harbor and the gas station at the otogar - might be useful.

Merhaba Trudie and Mick, I'm not really a beach boy, I had made boat trips in Fethiye and on Sunday 25 June with the water taxi to Calis at your door, then I went to the local market. On my birthday I went with friends to: CAFE PARK TERAS, in Fethiye this is located on the fourth floor and there is even an elevator, from there you have a beautiful view of the harbor and the sea, this is highly recommended and you should also try to attempt 🙂

Very happy you are here, however I am not around (Mahmutlar).
I do love restaurants, smoking (and whisky). I do not go to the beach (my wife does though). I NEVER will throw away my smokes to the beach (as I do not go anyhow no issue). For me the best thing would be a EUR 100 fine for people throwing away, not being allowed to smoke is a big drawback I think (for me it would be a no go if smoking would not be allowed)
We live in Turkey and one big pluses is smoking be allowed in restaurants.
Honestly if would be blocked could be a showstopper (for me)

Us brits should hang our heads in shame, but I must say that the Turks seem to be the worst culprits. They have a long way to go in terms of environmental issues and responsible tourism. Great video though.

@resitaktas5728 I'm not saying British beaches are perfect, far from it, but by and large, they are good quality and cleaned regular (main tourist Hotspots). Our main problem here in the UK is sewerage overflow as our Victorian sewers can't cope. It doesn't stop me from going to your beautiful country as I love the people and food, but I do avoid the beaches. The content creator suggested banning smoking on beaches. He is 100% correct.

@@paulnicholls2351 we're on the same page. When it's commercialised people think they can ruin things that they paid for. Quiter ones and national parks are always better. I love UK coast & agree on smoking ban even though I don't think it would work
