"You are more than your work". Don't know where I got it from, but this quote helps a lot when I'm struggling and feel like shit about my work and compare it to others and try to do way more stuff than I'm capable of. We just have to learn to be ok with the current skillset we have and balance the creative side with other things.
I love you picked out that quote, I find myself falling into that trap a lot to the point where if I don't make something or post something I feel like I'm fading away from the picture ala Back to the Future
This chat is such a mood-booster on this rainy day! In the middle of all this crazy stuff going on, it's so nice to just chill out and talk about the things we love. Reminds me to take care of myself so I can keep doing cool stuff. 😊Thank you, EJ and PJ!
@@eyedesyn Also, after a wild experience with office politics recently, I realized just how much is out of our control. It also got me thinking about AI and other tech - sometimes, we just gotta focus on what we can control and enjoy the ride everyday! 😊
It's alarming and indicative of the privileged in this industry who fail to realize their immense responsibility to stabilize the boat on which they float. People like PJ who run full scale studios can only do so because they are from the old world and got in early. That's it, its purely nodal real estate. They were there at the start of what became a globalized network culture and the anxiety occurring right now across this industry is because what once was a specialized skill to create with a technical imagination is evolving to become a general literacy for the new culture itself. To hear PJ say he will gladly go hire the cheap group is because he doesn't realize his responsibility to stabilize the industry -- he's not alone, none of the old world really understands this and so even PJ gets pumped and dumped and it echoes across the entire network like telephone. What needs to occur to stabilize the industry is likely not going to happen. PJ and the old world will be fine because again they got lucky, they have no idea how lucky... they get to float on top of everything underneath them and cherry pick as they please. This makes it nearly impossible to scale yourself without connections to the old world. Its like when the guy from google says, "we never could have predicted social media would threaten democracy...." Well when attempting to plug 8-billion people into one another the repercussions will be manifold. It's time the old world starts to recognize this global evolution and phenomenon as something we all need to be more cognizant of and if you were there at the start of its evolution to digital you should be required and incentivized to help build and setup a more equitable future. Anyway, big picture, don’t think too hard about it, just make art man, fuck yeah motion graphics!!
Very insightful and its great to know that even the big leagues like Laundry go through the same things one as a freelancer goes through. I feel like this are a little bit more possible now that I'm not alone in that feeling of "Damn, I cant keep up!"
2 Legends in the building! 🤙🏿🤙🏿
PJ/EJ duo!
EJ interviewing PJ? Today is a good day.
Laundry has been KILLING it lately!

How great would it be if our industry had such a balanced and down-to-earth perspective as PJ?
