In this video men's style, grooming, fitness and lifestyle expert, Aaron Marino of IAmAlphaM, AaronMarino, and Pete & Pedro presents minor things that may sabotaging your hair potential.
Hair Style Mistakes and Fixes
1. Selecting a hair style that will never work for your hair - you need to be in touch with reality in terms of your hair. Alpha gives examples of emails regarding of hair types that will not ever work.
2. Using too much product - using the wrong product, not having enough hold, or your hair is too long are the issues. Product selection is critical to your hair satisfaction.
3. Cutting off your side burns - it looks terrible for everyone since your face is not framed and your hairstyle doesn't have a nice, cleaned finished edge. The exception is if you shave your hair.
4. Touching and fixing your hair all day long - it's annoying and also will make your hair greasy. Fix it and forget it!
5. Not using your hair styling product properly - emulsification is key to using hair styling products properly. Alpha demonstrates.
** Don't act like your hair is fragile. Get the product to the roots. Alpha's favorite product that he uses is Pete and Pedro Putty.

+oPtimus make sure you blend it at first or else it'll look like a different landscape.
The way your hair grows is also really important. How it naturally sits without any product in it.
I personally have a double crown on the back of my head (it kind of looks like a spiral, or a rose) these are particularly hard to work with because they have a bad habit of falling back into shape, or going completely out of control. Like Alpha says, don't be afraid to get rough with your hair, if your like me and you've got a double crown you need to pull your hair tightly if you want it to stick to the style you want. Or find a style that goes with your parting.
I have fairly thick hair of slightly longer than average length and I use a soft clay to style my hair and a hairspray which doesn't leave you looking like you had a greasy bag of chips rubbed on it, because the soft clay alone isn't enough to hold it in place (I mainly use it for styling) but if I used anything like a putty or a matted clay it just looks like I've let paint dry on my hair.
I use a combination of rubbing and clapping with the soft clay, as it seems to react faster and work better with a mixture of the two. The hairspray the holds it all together provided you don't get that one arsehole in the club who finds it fun to skin their hand through your hair.

I've kept my hair very short for a couple of years now, and slashing the sideburns is a good look to me. There isn't much I disagree with from alpha, but this was one of them.
Perhaps for the men with longer hair, this would be a good tip, but it's not for me, and I think cutting it gives a sharpness to the hairline that is unique.

hey Alpha, you should do a video on where to part your hair on the side based on your face shape. my hair went forward for about 12 years until I recently decided to side part it. I like it and I think it looks better but I dont know if the part is too low or too high! I cant seem to find anything on this subject and you have been my go-to source of info for this stuff for about a year now. I love your work man!

Found out that Groom & Clean is the only healthy and leading hair control for hair off of Google. I use only that for right now because of that reason. It also makes my hair look healthy, natural and classic looking.
Old Spice Spiffy pomade is the best hair product I've ever used. I get told all the time that my hair doesn't even look like it has product in it, my hair is just naturally styled. Seriously, Old Spice Spiffy is the best. Can't recommend enough.

I wouldn't listen to the comment that the "hustle and bustle" of American cities somehow affects this... sure it might, in NYC. I doubt any other U.S. city would have that sort of effect. Most U.S. cities are chill to the extent that most people don't have to talk abnormally quickly or loudly on a regular basis, and even then, I'd doubt that even living in NYC would make a difference, as I've met plenty of people from NYC who don't speak notably differently than anyone else.
Most of these TH-camrs are probably just trying to speak loudly and clearly to more effectively communicate their points, be engaging, seem confident, and to follow the trends of other successful TH-camrs who also speak with similar verve. It's a marketing/sales tactic more than anything else. Billy Mays was a champion of this tactic (albeit that he obviously wasn't a TH-camr).
Thank you for taking the pain to analyze this phenomenon ;-) I think you're right saying that it's a marketing/sales thing. I can only say, it has the opposite effect on me, I hit the stop button right away.

I do it a few minutes after I get out of the shower, so a little bit wet, so when it drys, it gets a good hold
Best tips to do your hair:
1)Find a suitable hairstyle ( i am going to ask my barber towards which side my hair naturally grows)
2) spread your hair little amount of product very well
3)Don't constantly touch your hair all they long
4)get in there get that product to the root all the way up, your hair is not fragile

something I've been doing for a long time when styling my hair is I'll wet hair, soak it, like rite out of the shower. without drying it I'll put in my jell. get it everywhere and then I will towel dry my hair and style as needed with a comb. right amount of jell. hair still kinda looks wet but isn't. works great for me and I'm surprised I've never heard of anyone else doing it lol

I use that "Axe messy look" hair gel. At first it looks a little bit greasy but 30 minutes later my hair stays there but the slightly greasy look goes away and my hair looks "unintentionally mess" but fixed. Every morning what I do is blow dry my hair first, then gel it then heat it up again with a blower and I'm set.
