- We finally get the 3 bottom plow. Trying to figure out how it works. Clearing brush in the fruit tree area so we can plant more fruit trees. Geoff drops off his little Black Lab puppy so we can babysit it. back to the greenhouse farm. It is getting busy. Farmhouse cooking.
Thank you kindly for watching Molly Moo. She gave your doggie daycare five stars on Yelp. “ Joe lets you nap on his feet and has endless things to chew on…..”
The inside wheel on your plow is your guide wheel. It runs in the furrow from your last pass. Your outside wheel is the depth control wheel.
Molly really touched my heart. We lost our black lab a few weeks ago due to old age. He went peacefully at home.
I'm sorry for your loss.❤
Coulters keep the plow following behind the tractor. Without them set right the plow will tend to follow too far right or left. Those mouldboard bottoms will pull easier once you get that rust worn off. When you finish smear them with some heavy grease to prevent some of that next yr. 🍀
Getting camp opened for the season. Cooking sausage on the grill and a brown lab came over to inspect things. Young feller and I enjoyed some good food and then he left to where ever he was going. Memories are not about the game you take but the ones you miss and visitors you did not expect. Life is good.
What a lovely comment.
@@pamelar5868 Thank you young lady. Lifes pleasures come in small packages. Enjoy them all.
Joe, you are so right to keep the willows. They help keep your property dry, as they love wet lands!
Glad to see you are feeling better. Your humour is priceless. Hello to Melissa and the pups as well as all the kitties😊
Joe I really respect your drive and what you have accomplished with you and Melissa God bless you guys.
oooooo you tease at the end dammmmmmmm it lol.....
Card board boxes are great for walking on in the green house. They also kill the weeds below them.
Fantastic video Joe. Things are going fast 😂. At the very end you were really turning over some dirt. Can’t wait to see the totally plowed field. Keep ‘em coming we love it.
Thanks Joe and Melissa! Everything looks great! Glad you got your plow!
With all these projects you keep adding to your list, I have to ask, do you ever get anything done? You have the workshop, the art studio, the guest house, a green house, tilling fields and planting fruit trees, getting a cow, cutting next winter's firewood for the furnace, the tent, hunting and fishing, the list goes on and on. 🤪
Goals and plans--keeping life full and fun❤!
Cant remember if you have a wood chipper, but that brush would make some great mulch to throw around the saplings to keep the weeds thinned down
I planted those cherry belle radishes about a week ago. They take 3 weeks to grow and are mouth watering to me when roasted with some olive oil with other veggies. I have red potatoes already planted in barrels. I got food grade blue barrels and cut the top half off and use those to plant potatoes. When they are ready, I get a tarp and tip the container over and pick up the potatoes. You can't even get 10lb bags of potatoes around here anymore. 3 to 5 lb bags and that's it. As always, a very enjoyable video, thanks.
Oh! Yes! Save the willow for sure!
Joe thanks for the M H D every time I watch the vids you show america still has a shot look forward to all your vids! Best wishes to you and Melissa 👍🇺🇸🎯❤ Mikey Maz Pittsburg N.H
This was a really interesting video, and there is nothing better than a puppy. I could watch tractors and puppies all day long!
Greetings from North Missouri Joe. I bought a Jackery 1500 a few years ago. I have a sump pump situation just like you. I needed/wanted it for no power thunderstorm loss of power possibilities. It’s a good peace of mind tool. As always I enjoy your channel.
That alfredo dish made me immediately go cook something!
It did look yummy❤!
Hey Joe I said that you were gonna be so busy that we won’t be able to keep up, and thanks for sharing! 👏👏👏🤩🤩🤩💯💯
If i had that stove i would cook breakfast on it once in a while on cold relaxing mornings.
Glad to see you are doing better. You appear back to normal. Always moving bending and lifting. Never lived on a farm or drove a tractor so what you are doing is fascinating to me. Cannot wait till next video to see how the tractor, plow, and disc do.. be safe!
Love that old cook stove.
the lever is to lift the wheel when you start your farrow after you make a pass then you an adjust your depth nice looking plow hope it works out for you
I thoroughly enjoy all your videos. I’ve been doing masonry for 22 years and watched You building and Your woodworking is amazing
Hello Joe good to see you up and about
Thanks for sharing with us Joe and Melissa, enjoyed the video so much. Hope you can find a book for the plow or even better find a source for the operation on a Farmall site. Looking good with cutting back for the tree and blackberry planting. Stay safe and will catch you on the next video. Fred.
All through the video I wanted give you a shout out as "Farmer Joe" and finally right near the end you were ploughing. Awesome and thanks Farmer Joe !!!!! LOL
Well Joe, let the farming begin. I would think there might be some older farmers around you that could give you some great instruction on that plow, good luck! Thanks much for the video.
Got to love Minnesota weather when you live so close to Lake Superior. The plow looks pretty cool can’t wait to see it work.
Memories of changing the shears on the 4 bottom JD plow. Many many hours pulling it behind first the Model R then the 4020. Our plow was great. Never broke. Smooth furrows and a beautiful lay of soil. Just a great experience pulling it. Best of luck!
Glad you are getting 🐄 😊
Great video,Joe. I always enjoyed brushing clearing. Always satisfying. Crazy how you can watch the water rise as you’re talking about the sump pump. Take care and thanks for sharing.
I bet you & Melissa have lots of enjoyable conversations about hopes, plans & dreams for your all's place. It is fun to hear about some of them as time rolls along for us all. Thanks for sharing what you do.❤
Another great video. Can’t wait to find out about those bikes.
Hey Joe since you guys have all that wind and weather you can put pipe insulation on your green house poles to help perserve your plastic
What the heck?? Leave me hanging like that... Well it definitely works.. Looking forward to seeing more.. Stay safe and have a great day.👍🤓👍🤓.Randy.
Little Genius, Little Wonder plows had all steel wheels, including the tail wheel. The colter cuts the sod ahead of plow point/landside & moldboard turning it over. We plowed at 8" depth. Your plow points are likely 14". We plowed in 2nd gear at 2/3 throttle. I loved the smell of freshly turned soil. Btw your plow was made in late 40's to mid 50's & $100. for an 8" spike tooth drag in good condition is a steal.
Molly is a doll! 👍🇨🇦😎🐾💖
Couldn't help but wish you had a Forestry Mulcher making quick cleanup of the area your working on. Have ever seen one in action? Amazing I have in person and several times on TH-cam.
I agree but I will now mow this area as it gets grass and instead of moving the brush like I did, I would have a thousand pieces I would have to move. I could use one though in the side pasture on the road side since I do not mow there.
You can put a sway bar on one side of the rear lift arms and they won't sway anymore.
I was born & raised on a farm with an M & a little genius plow. Ya don't plow a hillside downhill. Nature with the rain & all pushes the dirt downhill on its own. Wish I was closer, I'd have you plowing in 5 minutes!
The yard is looking good joe, keep up the good work. Im planting a bunch of fruit trees this season and expanding the garden. MN life
plough looks great.🤩👍👍
❤ oh the puppy is just cute ❤
Big fan in South Carolina. Love your content
Gosh, I love that stove!
Food looked great!
Great video!
Lab pups are the best!
awesome Joe!
Love your videos I try to keep up with you and Zack ben watching you for a long while
You are becoming a farmer lol 16:37
Nice work
As always, thank you for sharing. PS- Good choice buying a McCormick! Been a fan my whole life!
Happy to see you feeling better you have to start plowing your garden before it gets too late I want to plow anything in 30° weather r35 degree weather is it not going to work you start planning when it's a little warmer in the seeds can handle the warm ground when it's too cold your seed will die
That stove Joe ! what a wonderful bit of kit that is. Such a shame manufacturers only make bland, featureless, lightweight equipment today. I hang on to a 60's gas cooker just because we will never see build quality like that again.
Dang it I want some plow action Joe!
I, for one, hope for and expect longer videos from you ! Great video as always !! Take care Joe
EXPECT ......just a little demanding
His videos on both channels are longer than most channels and I enjoy that. I’m sure Joe knew exactly how I meant that comment. Being that the comment was for him. Lol
I wish I could come up there after my surgery and have time off had a bit of experience with your old M and your bottom plow since was a kid
That is incredible that you have that much water flowing under your basement floor.
Yeah, I hear you joe and your right, you do use it for sure. What just the bucket? Or same thing I guess.
Watch out for glass products and you’ll be fine LoL
PS
You are a Bugger to go!! Amazing hard working tradesmen/ farmer/……
In wet land try and keep trees that respire a lot of water, it helps. Swampy ? maybe if you can't drain it grow cranberries !!
My grandma used a stove like that only I think it was greenish
Thanks Joe ! 😊
Oh yeah Joe, you are becoming one of those guys now are you.... Making us wait with Cliff Hangers.... Shame on you... Just joking. with you. Looks like from that 10 sec clip it is going to work well for you. Can't wait to see how the entire back 40 looks when you are all done. I will see you on the next video !!!! 🙂
Hey Joe, youre working too hard, again! 😂 Dont forget to pace yourself, take some to relax in the evening, and dont be a stranger! Swing on over for a bedtime story or two! 😊💖💐
Thats a really cool old stove what year, ill bet could find something similar or same in European countries.
I think you need a clevis on the plow hitch loop that hooks to the tractor drawbar. L&M shows them, Koch straight clevis . Koch 4048111 Cylinder Stroke Control Segments. Put these on the hydraulic cylinder shaft to set your plow depth.
Are you all going to finish the guest house? Also when are you all going to demolish that old trailer?.🤔🤔🤔
Wow glad to see you getting all the equipment for you homestead.
If you get a cow or something else isn't that going to cut your time at the cabin?
They need more attention than other animals.
We have a chocolate lab and she’s our baby. They’re so smart and loving 🥰 Her favorite treats are fried pork skins and greenies she also loves celery.
👍👍
I still watch,
first video on the channel i watched was about Nelly, i was searching pittie videos. the second video you had just posted it was when you went and picked up the disc. and now youre finally using it, lol. i thought you bought it and were just gonna let it sit in the field. with all these new implements i see a cordless power grease gun in your future.
My sump pump goes off every five minutes I live in Buffalo. We’ve got a Lotta rain lately.
Plow right in front of your firewood pile? That’s going to make things fun for deliveries. Hoping its just the camera angle.
nearly a hot dog there under stove lol
👍👍👍
Do you have any sandy soil that you could pull the plow thru to shine up the moll boards this helps it scoure . Then after that keep it greased.
A cow that will be fun! Joe are you going to still make a covered area to park the tractor under one of these days?
How is that fiber connection treating you Joe? It must be nice not having to drive to Walmart to upload a video!
It is super fast. It is so fast that the original "plan" we signed up for we decided to get a cheaper plan that reduced the speed and cost in half and it is still very fast. This video took 8 minutes to upload. With the first very expensive plan it would have taken 4 but we did not need it that fast and the cost was expensive. With the old internet DSL it would have taken probably 5 hours if not more and we would not be able to stream tv shows at the same time. Not having to drive to walmart is very nice.
@@NorthernSeclusion Hopefully that means more videos for us! Thank you for all you do Joe.
I think I would like to have one
Grandpa had a farmall H and it would pull a two bottom 16" mould board plow all day long in 2nd gear so your M should pull that 3 bottom just fine.
At 43:03 you lost an item onto the ground in case your missing a part you know where it is
Our pure bred mini Aussie is 4 months old now and is a mess. He acts like he’s on crack and bites everything but we love Velcro
Handle adjustment is depth adjustment
Handle is one of them but since it only has 1 handle instead of 2 and instead of the second handle it has hydraulics It gets more complicated.
I have gotten so I take a photo with my phone of my list...so I should have one or the other lol
Next video, I was taught the first pass with disk you are supposed to go same direction as plow, some forum opinions say slight angle
You have deers outside your home. My place I have rabbits all over the yard. Under my shed.
Deer
your hitch is improper u need a u type draw bar so that the pin has pressure on top and bottom of of unit that u are pulling
, you need to put up a wind sock somewhere.
7 months of the year the wood boiler tells me exactly the way the wind is blowing. The front of it faces straight north. I look at it daily several times to see.
That’s what happens every time 😊I left my phone or I left my wallet at home
Control the depth with the cylinder or have some kind of a stop
Yes a M will pull a 3 bottom plow
So, you going to buy a planter, when you get done with the field?
Heck no, I am just going to use my hand held seed broadcaster. Planters are expensive and it is not that big of an area.
@ 40:00 if you want venison next fall i would hunt at home!!
What variety of blackberries are you growing?
Wild ones.
Your tractor will pull it.
Will you be finishing the guest house?
Eventually.
