I’m in Chatham Kent. I just finished commercial corn yesterday.got seed corn in except one set of male corn.just beans to go.its been a weird spring.dry on top and mud underneath.cheers
Farmers in upper N.Y state are lucky to have a more forgiving window. Up in the Peace River Region of Alberta, they get an average of 105 frost free days. Seeding & harvest time are always stressful. It's pucker-up & pray time! Good Luck Grump. ps I'll be traveling by your way on July 7, plan to stay at a motel near I-90 in Syracuse/Liverpool/Clay. Would love to meet you in person? Bufford
Cousin and I managed to get seed in the ground before the end of April. BUT 🤔 we were way too dry, did not get any water for about 10 days, long germination period, very slow to grow. Then the rain came and got the usual washout zones. I will get to teach Stephen about stepping a combine over a washout rut. Could be loads of fun. Thank you for your update, Andy. 🙂
lol I’m 47 years old. Excavator operator now. Worked on farms all my life Always too wet, always too dry, always too cold, always too hot. My heart breaks
Wet here in SC as well. More coming today and through the weekend. We only plant a couple BAGs (big ass gardens) but the rain has definitely been a pain for us this year. Have a great weekend! 🍺🇺🇸
I have a 50'x 50' block of strawberries and the same for black & red raspberries. I've had to water for the last 2 weeks, here in west Michigan. Good luck to you, hopefully the weather starts cooperating.
Thanks for the update Andy, I hope for great weather for you and every Farmer out there, you all need very good yields for your effort and food for all
Fighting wet weather here in northern Iowa, too. Planted some corn on April 25, and some of it is still coming up where water stood for a day, and between tile lines. We got a boat load of rain and cold weather after planting. Finished beans today, trying to get ahead of the next rainy spell coming late this weekend and next week. Everyone is going balls to the walls to try and get corn and beans planted.
@thegrumpyfarmer Andy I was thinking about planting this week here in Maine but the weather was calling for rain all week and over the last few days it's been spotty showers granted yes we did slammed yesterday afternoon with a good rain shower to the point I decided that it was to dam wet to plant the gardens I figured I needed to let them dry a bit first so that the seeds hopefully wouldn't rot before Peeking there way through the soil. Not only that but I also tried to help the worms find the leaves that I put on one of the gardens but tilling the ground unfortunately didn't help much in that department.
We cracked the high 70s last week, but the past few days have been more January like with a windy 45 degrees. Planting much is delayed in my yard, with the next week forecast all rain. I'm surprised there aren't more alcoholic farmers than there are.
Feel for you Andy, hopefully drying out. We are standing at 6"+ above average or 18" for 2024 down here in north Texas from southern jet stream. Things wet, feel for the farmers here.
I planted 39 tomato plants 2 weeks ago.basically nothing but rain since then.all turning yellow and dying, how great!! Two rows of green beans, not one damn bean came up.gotta love ohio! All new seeds, too.😢
The best of everything concerning your planting, Andy. Certain areas in 🇨🇦 are getting lots of water, too. Even a major hail storm in Winnipeg along with 1.5 inches down pour. Hmmm, let's blame this on Climate change, NOT!
Farmers are at the mercy of Mother Nature. Over the years sometimes it’s either too wet, too dry, too hot, too cold, or. somewhere in between . Too bad we can’t control it like the government wants to do to people
I asked my neighbor yesterday how he gets his lawn to green up so fast? He told me he sprays it with Blu DEF because it's like 18% nitrogen, and it's the cheapest liquid fertilizer he can buy... I had no idea you could do that? You learn something new every day.
I think everyone is in the same boat with the rain. I was able to mud in another 43 acres last night but dropping another 60 acres from corn to plant it back to beans. Raining now. I’m gonna look at my records from last year but I think I was done planting corn and full season soybeans by this time last year. I have corn that’s not up and corn that is ready to be sprayed and top dressed.
I planted the field and garden 2 weeks later than usual and it still took 2 weeks to see things pop up, always gets a little stressful after 2 weeks, lol.
Super super slacker I am 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣 but here though😁😁 I hope the weather eases up soon for y'all, it runied my plans for more corn ground. But im a hobby farmer compared to the stresss y'all face😳 I can't believe what these idiots say in the public eye and people just cheer them on. Sad sad world we live in, they just don't get what all the hipe, keeps hidden underneath....wait a min, yeah they do...just too stupid to care 🤬🤬 Thank you Andy for bringing us along!! 😁😁🇺🇸🇺🇸🌽🌽🌱🌱
We are going back in the fields tomorrow. It looks like we could have three or four days of dry weather and actually be in the 80s before it starts raining again.
Neighbor up the road has not gotten one seed in the ground yet. menonite dropped some triticale on Saturday and is just getting it picking up yesterday.
Don't feel like a orphan. I farm in SE ND and it's been wet here as well. We have most of the crop in and if it doesn't rain over night I should finish. But 20-30 miles away some haven't been in the field yet.
Always a pleasure watching your videos. Keeping you in prayers and thoughts of prosperity. People don’t understand how difficult things outside there control can effect their lives. Farmers do from weather to butholes God Bless your family
Hoping you get a reasonable window for planting!!! The political and other frustrations only continue to eat away at a farmer as the clock keeps on ticking toward the last day(s) of planting for corn and beans to mature before a killing frost. Unfortunately the liberals don't have a clue about the demands/frustrations of rural life as long as they can squander our country's finances on stupidity.
Just went to the liquor store .....and the Asian Indian employee was ten minutes late opening .....six months ago the Female american owner had a meltdown in front of me .... she said that I can't get one of these Indian men to follow directions ....they treat me like I'm the employee ....she has at least three Indian Asians >...such is life in the NEW AMERICA 😮
Good one Andy! Hopefully you'll be able to get out there and plow soon. As for the "One more Thing" - these folks live in a cocoon of stupidity. Hard to believe anyone would vote for them.
They're obviously good swimmers. You crack me up.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I think you're about 8 hours behind us in the weather. Maybe 20% of the crop in our area has been planned and it doesn't look the best. I'm sure some will have to be replanted.
Grumpy Farmer . A family in British Columbia I talked to on Sunday they need rain so they don't have wildfires . God's mercy falls on the just and the unjust
Andy, I hope you're still can find your corn and beans we got all ours in and it's coming up. Yes it is getting late now after the middle of May Hill keep up the good work the Ilinois farmer take care bye
If farming were easy, everyone would be doing it. If Dolly Parton was a farmer, she would be flat busted like the rest of us! (I'm talking financially for those of you who have their minds in the gutter)
Those are also the ones that never say a bad word because they’re living off of their TH-cam money and as you know, I really don’t give a fuck I show the good the bad and the ugly
Farming. One profession that success solely depends on mother nature. Well this week the hurry should get the Trump case that is unless the judge kicks it out and not even send it to them which I highly doubt since he too wants Trump convicted. I do hold out hope there is at least one person who has common sense and we have a Hung jurry.
Last year, we were 10" below average. So far this year, we have had just above half of last year total, so are basically ahead. Or not. It's weather, and farmers deal with it. As to your governor, krappy hochtler, well.... 🤮
Do you know why Mexico doesn't have an Olympic team. Anyone who can run, jump or swim is in the USA.
🤦♂️🤣🤣🤷♂️
HA!!!!!
Three things are certain…death, taxes and Grumpy starting a video with an ALRIGHT…😂
Alrighty 🤣🤦♂️
Ontario Canada, we managed to get first corn in, only the fields on the hills! Long days for us for the next two weeks too! ❤🇨🇦🇺🇸
Weather is crazy

I’d trade some rain for dry
I just turned 3 plants into 6, but I start early indoors.

Yeah something needs to change
Here in SE Wisconsin i just got out of bed, the sun is shining, and it was comforting to watch a video from Grumpy Farmer.
Appreciate it
Hope your weather improves. In SE WI the hope was that all planting was done before Memorial Day. Dad only had about 230 acres of plow ground.
Not sure if we will
Thanks for the video Andy, I hope the weather clears up for you!
Thanks mark 👍🏻
Shit down here in bowling Green Kentucky its been raining for weeks ..very wet spring down here
