Thank you so much! I kinda skipped through the video. So for anyone thats watching, you don't need to replace the thermal module. Following these steps I was able to detach the metal cover plate exactly as shown, remove the glass square, then when I pushed the thermal module down I heard an audible click noise. Like it was going back into a socket. Turned the camera back on and it fired right back up. My warranty was out and after reading reviews, it sounds like Flir would rather sell you a new one as the "fix" for this costs more than a new camera. I had ordered a new one yesterday for $1100 Canadian and thought I would try this to see. Took me about 15 minutes with a heat gun. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm really happy that the video was able to assist you in fixing your Flir C5. It's always a great feeling to know that the content I create is making a positive impact. I appreciate your support! 💪🏻
Thank you for the video there isnt much when it comes to troubleshooting these. I was wondering if you know a place i can get a replacement lense for the thermal module? Thank you.
I have had this camera and use it for home inspections several times per week. mine hangs on boot up nearly every time UNLESS it is plugged into external power during boot up! The other issue I have is that it drains the battery when powered off (standby mode), so I just keep it plugged up all the time.
Thank you very much! This saved me from purchasing my father a new one for about a thousand dollars. It could be summed up to 4-5 minutes if work, which did it for me :)
I'm so glad I could help you save some money! It's always great when a little effort can go a long way. It is a shame that this expensive piece of tech has this design flaw! 🫤
I had the same issue with my Flir camera. I had no idea what was the reason behind the problem - thank you for your video with the explanation. Fortunately, I have received a new device from the producer but I suppose that the problem might occur again.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm happy to hear that my video was helpful to you. It's great that the producer replaced your device, but fingers crossed that you won't face the same issue again - If so, it might help again! 😉
hello , i own a C3-x Flir camera , after no use for a while and keep in his bag , camera start to view heat in left of the screen after 1 minute of use , this is a bit disappointing because camera was kept in good conditions and sensor had fail , i don't know what i will do ,i'm a bit afraid if i disassemble the camera or sensor inself camera will completly die for good, if i had warranty for sure i was use it :( , to bad for this " cheap" camera
Hi George! Getting into the C3 is much easier than the C5. There are some videos out there showing how to open them up without causing any damage. I think if you're careful, you won't harm anything, and you have nothing to lose since it's already not working correctly! 💪🏻
So if I understand --- simply boot into safe mode and then download/reflash firmware? Enough times for it to finally "take"? There doesn't seem to be a fix here besides trying to get it to boot to safe mode.
Yes and No! These cameras often have the issue that the thermal camera module comes loose and won't operate anymore. That was the big takeaway I wanted to transport with this video. With the device I showed in the video, more bugs were involved. ;-)
Tenía el mismo problema con mi camara. He comprobado que esto funciona, muchas gracias por el video, mi cámara ahora funciona perfectamente, saludos desde chile
What an absolute piece of rubbish. So many people all over the world have been sucked into paying good money for this piece of crap. We purchased 8 units for our maintenance dept. and 4 of those are now being used as paper weights or door wedges. Thanks FLIR.... for nothing....
I totally agree with you; it’s completely unacceptable how frequently these failures occur. Have you tried the fix I demonstrated in this video? The loose module is often the root cause of these problems.

Hey, are you referring to the red IR filter?
@@CanWeFixThat yes and thank you for replying
Unfortunately, I have not found any source to get these. :-/
@@CanWeFixThatmine still works I just didn't know if it made that much of a difference. Thanks again
It's hard to say; but I do think it is not a big of a deal, if it was a slightly scraped off.

Hi! It sounds like there is an issue with the battery gauge/power management IC. 😕

great as always :) a cam for 700 euros makes such a cheap impression :D
That is really ridiculous, how many devices of this model are affected. 😂
@@CanWeFixThat gap in the market :D
@ SebastianL.83 There is a gap in their engineering team. 😁
