So sad watching this, he was one of the best composer off all time, when i watched this movie at age 10, i was so impressed of musics, it was so emotional for me and still it is.
The music in Braveheart pulls the heart strings and brings the scenes to life like l've never seen before. It is music I can listen to over and over. The scene "The Gift of Thistle" is one of my very favorites. It stands out and says everything with the music.
Mel Gibson was right. James Horner did the best score of his life. It shows. Horner worked with Gibson two years before on the man without a face, an excellent movie. I think after this film and Apollo 13, I think Ron Howard and Mel Gibson when they were doing Ransom a year later, they thought who would do the music for the film, even though Howard Shore was composing for the film and Ron Howard didn’t like the score for that. I bet he and Mel Gibson thought their friend and collaborator James Horner would do the score for the film. Personally I think it worked for the film. Howard Shore is ok but James Horner rest his soul was much better.
For the love of a princess is so beautiful and I can remember exactly where I was the very first time hearing it. It means so much to me still til this day. No matter the turbulence of my life I can always return to a peaceful time with this score. Wow!! That video definitely broke the monotony of crime investigation videos for me. Lol. Freeeeeeeeeeeedom!!
It’s a huge part of the movie, so much so that I think it could have been a flop if the score wasn’t right. It ended up being a masterpiece, because of the score. The DP was excellent as well.
“I think James is going to make the best score of his life” Mel Gibson was absolutely correct there.
Horner's music is timeless - so wonderful.
those really were the days ... RIP mr horner
RIP ..braveheart is his ultimate masterpiece
It's so sad watching this now. James Horner, thank you so much for the beautiful music. RIP.

in the same class as Elmer Bernstein, Maurice Jarre and the Master Morricone
This is how a human must live and be! R.I.P. Sir. James.
James Horner has proved himself...with some of the greatest scores for our times....but BRAVEHEART...is his best!
